Good morning crew. It’s a chilly 55f degrees climbing to the high 70’s. It’s cloudless outside but even better it’s day 2 of no smoke from Canada or Minnesota. AQI was 21 a few minutes ago.

Yesterday was good. I was at the bench for just under 3 hours prepping to make more trees. The rhythm was back and I was able to cut the wire for 36 birch trees in under 2 hours. Used up everything I had. I only needed 25 plus 10% but since I had so little wire left I kept going. My Amazon order for the next 150 trees was delayed from yesterday to tomorrow. The savings was almost 40% over a combination of Michael’s and the LHS. Plus the free shipping saved maybe 12 miles round trip of gas, so at $3.79 per gallon free shipping saved me $1.00 (car gets 35 to 40 miles per gallon) and a semi-impulse buy at the LHS. So I’ll say free shipping saved me at least $60.00

We had homemade pizza fries for dinner and then went to the granddaughter’s Miracle League Baseball game at 7:30. That was fun. Got home at 9:20 and decided to do some work at the bench. It’s nice again not to be 3 miles away from the bench. At midnight Terry came over to see if I fell to sleep or worst at the bench. I was forming the wire armatures into trunks and branches. Since did not set an alarm I lost track of the time

Enjoy your day

And the verdict?

After 2 donuts and a regular coffee I can say I'm never going to Dunkin again! The donuts were amazing, light and airy, the coffee even black was much smoother and not as acidic as Dunkin.

Tim Horton's has a new fan!
We were at a Tim Horton’s in Vancouver, August, 2025. Terry thought the coffee was very good but no great shakes on the donuts! I agreed on the donuts with her. Good donuts but we have some wonderful privately owned bakeries in the Madison area. I’ve not been to a Dunkin Donuts in maybe 30 years. Glad you had a great experience

#8s are wonderful but they use up lots of space. Unless you are running big steam and large 72’ or bigger box cars I’d stick to #6.

Have fun
I have just one #8 on a high-speed yard entry. I just wanted to see how big these were, how much room they would take up, and see how gradual the turnout would take the train into the yard. They really make the trains using it look great.

Good Wednesday morning. Finally a break in the weather.

Currently at 0800, 68°F/65°F with a dewpoint that continues to fall. I'm cutting grass in a couple of hours wet or dry. I suspect it will be much drier than last week's cut with the low dewpoint and full sun.

Expected high today is 84°F and 82° on Thursday, and, the pick day of the week...79°F on Friday!°!°!°!

I hope it's cool where ever you are. Servus!

Wasn’t sure If I posted this one over the last week or 2. I’m cleaning out the photo album.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who know what Alfred Nobel was famous for, before he got those awards named after him.

It's Troy again. I'm up, walked and showered.

While walking this morning, I was listening to the Dominion audiobook, and there was a chapter on Alfred Nobel, and how he helped with the minor details that was preventing or slowing the development of transcontinental railways.

And listening to the lead up to why he was instrumental, i had a brain fart that unlocked something troublesome in a book plot that I had shelved.

Whah-LA! and just like a TNT bang, the plot got unlocked, but will take some major restructuring. And I still have a book in front of that one in the writing queue.

I'm going to talk to ClaudeAI about this new plot restructuring. That's where I park all of my good ideas, and some of the brain farts.

Morning All! 59 in the Brew City this morning. going to 73. Weird after all that oppressive heat and smoke. I can do stuff outside today! 25 air quality, so I can breathe while doing it! Happy days! Taking some time away from the bench to do other stuff. Maybe a walk around the lake. The furniture got delivered and set up, looks good. The wife is happy, so I am as well! Had to catch up on three pages of posts here, and find myself hungry for calzones, strombolis, and pizza. 🤔

Good morning all!

Happy Hump Day!

A cool but sunny morning out there. I was a little surprised it was that crisp after the week and a half of warm humid weather we
have been experiencing. Currently it 62F and the high is supposed to reach a gorgeous 73F. There is a slight breeze. Looks like this
pattern will be with us thru the weekend.

Normal laundry and light cleaning tasks around the house this morning. I do have some yard work that I will do over the next couple
of days.

Not much else going on at the moment,

Have a safe day everyone!

Troy. I started out using Claude Ai and found it to be really inaccurate after continuous online digging. May I ask why you like to use it? I find both Google Gemini the free version and ChatGPT free and now paid versions best for my research and design needs. Did Claude have some upgrades?

Good Morning All. Clear and 80°, expecting 104° today. But that was what we were expecting yesterday and it hit 110° for a bit over an hour. That's right, 110°! The NWS has revised tomorrow and Friday's high downward to just 98°.

Despite the heat, I was able to do a bit of yardwork outside and laundry indoors; before making an unexpected trip to town. Wife had misplaced a bill that needed to be mailed immediately, so off to the post office I went. Not one to waste a trip, I made an early stop at the pharmacy (usually Thursday), another at the local grocery store for a last minute addition to supper, and finally to the convenience store to fill up the empty gas cans. Since the mower is half full and the grass has gone dormant, I probably won't need any for a while but I'd rather not run out in the middle of the yard when I do need it.

Today's agenda is not planned yet, will probably spend most of the time indoors today.

No real changes out in the train shed yesterday, my nemesis creature is still knocking over structures by the east window, but no freight cars Monday night. That might narrow my search today for a possible body.
Still cleaning structures over in Ft Wish, but soon to be finished. Got sidetracked a bit while I upgraded lighting circuits. I finally broke down last week and ordered some disconnects to make structure removal a lot easier.

Something that I should have done years ago. Already successfully installed on a couple of buildings.

Tom O - Your post yesterday morning reminded me that it is time to re-do the driveway here...actually about 2 years past due.
Kevin - We did our master bathroom remodel about ten years ago. Really made a difference, walk-in shower and high-rise toilet are tops.

Local Texas boy, singer, drummer, and co-lead vocalist of the Eagles, Don Henly is 79 today.

Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday.

It works best with writing tasks. For authors it's a gold standard.

I'm using the paid plan, which has more checks on accuracy. The problem with all AIs is the longer the chat thread goes, the more likely it is to give bad links.

And, Anthropic told the US Regime to go pound sand about creating AI super-weapons and surveillance tools.

Good Morning All!
61F @ 64% little hazy.

Went to Sandpoint yesterday am for Dishwasher. On the way while going by the small airport at the corner of US2 and US95 I spotted 6 or 7 Chinook's and 3 or 4 that I think were BlackHawks on the ground doing nothing along with a ton of fire related vehicles. Air was clear there, so the fires are kaput. Still might be some small burns, hence the haze here. Anyway, dishwasher is installed and working without too much fuss/muss. It is a 'scratch and dent' that we got for $240 - $590 retail. I can live with the dent you can not see bottom left of the door. Maria is even happy although she does not deal with kitchen stuff - my job.

@santafewillie Ya might consider that you have a bat.
IMGP1240.JPG

This little guy showed up on the floor - I though it was lump of stuff the dogs or cats brought in until it moved. We did not know we had one and no clue how it got in the house. Got a glimpse of something flying near the ceiling in the living room and though it was a bird. So we looked in all the high places to help it get outside; nope, no bird found. After I found it on the floor, it dawned on Maria that the animals were acting funny watching *something* under our bed and we now assume bat. If this is the case for you, your spider/beetle/crawlies should go down; which might be a good thing. Give it a small dish of water and you should be good to go. If you want it gone, look under everything for it just hanging around. Place a jar over it and bang around a little - waa-laa bat in a jar and you can take it outside.

@DeaconKC Maddie looks to be a good find. Little scrawny so good cat food with high protein for awhile. Don't forget about all the needed petting!

How to tell if you are OLD:
Find a crowd of people and fall down in front of them.
If they laugh, you are young.
If they panic, you are old.

Good morning folks, only 82 this morning and only supposed to hit 90 today. Cooler for the next few days, which is great because we have Vacation Bible School Thursday through Saturday. @ctclibby yeah, I have been owned by several cats over my lifetime, so I can see Maddie needs some good food. Hopefully, your other cats will quickly adopt her. We had a shop cat at one place I worked named Lincoln. He was a BIG old tomcat and when the business was sold one lady took him home. She was worried that one of her other cats would try to bully him because he beat up on the other cats she had. About a week later we heard that the other cat tried it with Lincoln and found out it didn't work, as Lincoln quickly established who was the new boss. She sent us pictures of how the 2 smaller cats were now snuggling up with Lincoln as he protected them too.
Anyway, you guys have a great day.
