I'm wondering myself where painting weather went. We went from 45° to 85°+ overnight. I've got a few locos on a line waiting for paint, maybe this fall??
I don't want to run the ventilation fan to the paint booth in this weather, and since I'm still shooting Scalecoat here I don't want to run the oven to bake. My HVAC system is getting replaced in a couple of weeks, and I don't want to stress it anymore than necessary by running the oven to bake painted models. I'll be satisfied if the current heat wave breaks.

hey folks!

- workday almost over (almost)
- tonight is a come together of a modeling group a village next to mine, so i and a friend will attend. iam the only modelrailroader, the others of the group ar most diorama or just modelkits builders in different scales. but its always fun to talk with them and share ideas that work in my or those worlds :)
- tmorrow i will have another discgolf tournament as i told you already. well weather forecast does not look that great (last week we had 36 celcius at the tournament) this weekend it looks more like 24 celcius but with rain and lightning strike -.- well we see how this goes.

Good morning all!

happy Friday!

Our air quality isnt as bad as some of you are reporting. Its rated as poor at 138. I noticed it right away when I went out with the dog earlier.
Currently its a muggy 79F and the high will reach around 92F. Humidity and dew points are starting to go up.

Not much going on around here today. I have to rum my daughter to the DRs to get her sports physical at 10:30. Those are pretty much
an in and out appointment so we wont be long. Nobody felt like cooking last night so we got pizza. No dishwasher to empty. There is a
load of laundry I will start shortly.

Other than that nothing else to report. Hope the day stays quiet and I will be in the pool again this afternoon!

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All!
66F @ 77% rain, flash and booms.

Maria and I were sitting in our fav watering hole yesterday afternoon to get out of the heat. About 1430 people got a 'wild weather warning about lightning in the area. Ya, a bunch of us walked outside to witness blue sky with not a cloud. That was looking East, turned around and everything to the West was churning gray/black with flash and bangs which were about 8 seconds apart for most; mile and a half. We oohed and awed for a bit then went back inside. Rain then started. Next, people got a txt/message from BPA that said something like 'Out of abundance of caution and your safety we are killing the power to the Libby and Troy area due to lighting strikes'. What? Anyway, those messages came in about 10 seconds after the power went off. Was off for about 2 minutes; drat: no free beer. So, what safety? How about people that need the power for medical devices; cooking and AC. Ever witness what happens when the traffic lights go black? Free pass and not even close to slowing down or a left/right look! Big ID ten T problem; government at its best. Oh, and Verizone did not do the txt broadcast, looks like AT&T along with all it's little subsidiaries.

Anyway, the rain, flash and bangs kept up all night, still had a few in the last 1/2 hour although rain had stopped. So if the clock on the stove is flashing - is that the new DST now programmed into the stove?

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Good morning folks, 78 here, predicted to hit 93 and clear. Prayers up for all of you fighting the atmosphere from the wildfire smoke from Colorado and Canada. A friend of mine in Colorado had to evacuate and then was able to return to his home, they stopped the fire 23 paces from his home! Anyway, gonna meet some family for lunch in a bit, gotta spray some primer on an old Heljan Freight House kit I picked up before we go so it will dry.
You guys be safe.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 76°. Rained a bit yesterday, totaling 0.25" in a couple of different events; neither of which I would classify as downpours. The first was after lunch while I was napping and the second was later at the same time that I was intending to get into the pool. Some very loud thunder near dusk, but no rain for us. Came close but dissipated before getting here. Might reach the low-90's through the weekend, then the NWS is predicting at least a week of triple digits. At least our AQI is currently just at 37.

Made the grocery trek yesterday without incident. Didn't spend nearly as much as usual, but we just weren't out of as much this week. Gasoline in town went up another 25¢/gallon from last week. The local law enforcement folks must be feeling the crunch because they were out in force with their speed traps!
Next door neighbor, the troubled one, was released from the county lock-up Wednesday; let's see how long he can avoid violating the current restraining order. Let's count, seven years on the original conviction, 3 more months for getting belligerent with an officer during a traffic stop, (car also confiscated), 6 months for his first restraining order violation, and 1 year on the most recent one. That's 8 years and 9 months of the last 11 years. Bubba, his immediate next door neighbor, who took out the restraining order, will undoubtedly taunt him into violating it again! It's a complicated mess up on the hill starting with the original incident in 2014. Bubba didn't even live there when it all started, and the issue originated with a different neighbor!

No plans yet for today while I wait for it to dry off a bit.

Frustrating day out in the train shed yesterday. I have had a dead spot in the trackwork leading into an undeveloped area of the layout, that I have been ignoring. I tracked it down to a faulty switch. Replacing the switch would be a massive undertaking as it is connected to two additional switches; one leading to a passing siding and yard, the other to an industrial spur; all of which are already ballasted. There's no feeders to the industrial spur, but by applying power there, I can eliminate the dead section. So the obvious answer is to attach a feeder to the "+" side there. Easy enough for most, but I am the world's worst at soldering. Took me over an hour to get it right! But it works now. After that, it was time for a cold one and I don't model after I pop the top. Then it rained as I was headed for the pool.

Marco - Be careful and don't fall off the mountainside playing in the DiscGolf tourney.
Michael - My wife found some glass hummingbird feeders at Walmart that don't deteriorate in the sun. They work well, but they are more expensive...about $33 for a 2-pack.
Troy - Don't get me wrong, I love Pizza, but it sends my glucose levels up to heaven! I could never eat is as often as you guys do.

Today's musical birthday's include the late Spencer Davis was born on this day in 1939. He passed away at 81 in 2020. For Louis, who probably already knows, Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler is 77 today.

Everybody have a fine Friday.

I didn't know drivers got tips.
Tips, as in cash tips.
I've never seen an option to tip an Amazon driver
If you order groceries and some other items through Amazon Fresh, Amazon's Whole Foods stores or an affiliated store in your area you will have the option to tip the driver in your Amazon cart in areas where these are available. Typical Amazon Prime orders will not give the customer the option to give a tip in the cart.

Amazon has been expanding Prime to include many grocery items, no option to tip on those orders. Things like frozen foods and refrigerated foods will still come from stations where the drivers are expecting tips. Other items like sodas, water, drinks, dry goods and cleaning products may or may not come from stations where the drivers are expecting tips. Many drivers who are counting on tips are ignoring the "If applicable" part of the offers they see that would include tips, which pay less per/hour because tips are supposed to offset the lower pay.

Now back to baseball! ⚾

I've never seen an option to tip an Amazon driver, but Walmart includes a tip in your delivery order. I have to reduce the tip to a reasonable amount for what I get from them. I'm not giving a delivery driver $20 to deliver a $50 order 4 miles, which is how far I live from the store.

They get no tips from me. I live a mile from the store. I don't recall seeing anyone in the store ever receiving a tip from a customer. I like how they try and sneak that tip in and hide the box to eliminate it at the bottom of the screen. I hate Walmart and all they stand for, but in this tiny town where they eliminated all of the local competition, it's a necessary evil.

Same here!

Thank you sir and I did not know. But I love Geezer, he is my favorite bassists, and he wrote some fantastic lyrics too!

This one is for Geezer! On the original album, the bass solo is titled “Bassically”, and it leads directly into N.I.B. But over the years is just lumps together as the intro to the song. It’s one of the most iconic bass intros in heavy rock - fuzzy, melodic, almost like a lead guitar line, but absolutely Geezer. He used a cranked Laney amp- heavy fuzz and his signature pick attack That’s why the tone has that thick, almost six string guitar like sound.
Enjoy!

And N.I.B. does not stand for nativity in black! What does it stand for, where did it come form? - that makes for a good trivia question. Any Sabbath fans in the house?

Correct. He was well beyond the minimum recommended safe distance. He did not provoke the animal, and it appears this was in the picnic area. Just a guy enjoying the park and wildlife, unlike the biker chick who walked up to one and tried to pet it a couple of years back. He may not survive, so, hate to be a wet blanket guys, but there's nothing funny here. 🤷‍♀️

Grandpa is doing fine and recovering in the hospital. His femur was broken and that is the extent of his injuries.

Where did you read that he may not survive?

No Sabbath fans... No matter I'll share the answer.

What does “N.I.B.” stand for? It doesn’t stand for anything. According to Geezer Butler himself, the title is not an acronym. It’s literally just “Nib", the nickname they gave Bill Ward because his beard at the time looked like the nib of a pen.

Geezer has explained this in multiple interviews over the years: “It was originally just called ‘Nib’ after Bill Ward’s beard. People started putting periods in it thinking it stood for something, so it became N.I.B.” The periods were added later by fans and record labels, which made everyone assume it meant something mysterious or satanic.

The record label printed “N.I.B.” on the album. Even though Geezer named the song “Nib”, the Vertigo label added periods: N.I.B. That instantly made fans think it was an acronym. And in 1970, anything with mysterious initials on a Black Sabbath album was going to get attention.

About the rumor that it means “Nativity in Black”? That’s the famous myth, but Geezer has said many times - it’s not true.

Spent my “Canadian Smoke half day” at the train shop. The place is unique. Semi-organized. The guy keeps buying collections. Hardly any room in the aisles to walk. It’s like going to a train show. Athearn blue box and MDC/ Roundhouse kits are priced at $8.

Bought another car. 😲

Now these pics may be disturbing to some viewers but it’s not as bad as it looks. If you are a Tyco collector, then this is your place. Lots of Lionel too.

And this area… I really want to explore, but he won’t let me.

Crazy huh. He said there’s more in the basement. He won’t let me go down there either! 😡

#11 MERV would be better
Interesting how each HVAC tech have different opinions on this. Steve Lav on u-toob recommends not using the AC as an air filter. He says the AC needs air flow for it to work properly. Goes with proper sizing of the intakes balanced with the out put vents and size of the system. I don't remember what MERV level he recommended. But good that you keep a schedule and stay on top of that.

For filtration, I put a 20 inch filter on the intake side of my box fan. I don't mind the noise since it covers the tinnitus.
