Woke up to 74, which is quite uncomfortable for our location, luckily a breeze outside makes it bearable.

I worked at a hamburger franchise called Burger Chef, in 1976, senior year hs.

We made good burgers and fries, had a thing called the "works bar", serve yourself lettuce, pickles, etc to top your burger.

The hamburger patties went on a conveyor chain passing over flame tubes, we regulated the speed based on the thickness of the meat. Grease fell below to a drip pan.

It was a good job, started at 1.80 per hour.

Will be painting people and putting together a couple truck kits, adding details, on the layout this morning.

Later, Dave LASM

Good morning all!

Happy Hump day!

A very humid, hazy morning to start. Currently the temp is 77F heading up to a high of around 95F. Heat index around 105-110 degrees.
No outdoor activities planned for today except a dip in the pool this afternoon will defiantly be in order.

Have a few things to do this morning of the indoor variety, but not much else going on.

I worked for quite a while last night on my grain elevator area doing some final blending of rocks and getting some of the other areas in a layer of Sculptamold. Its taking much longer than anticipated, I haven't posted any photos in my thread as there's progress but not much photo worthy.

Stay cool, and as always, Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All!
56F @ 83% kinda rainy. To hit 80F+ later, no rain in the cast for the next few days according to the guessers.

Bread: Not the band ... Even though ima Type II, still eat it depending on my glucose level. It has been my observation if you completely take something out of your diet, sooner or later you are going to binge on it; at least in my case. Keep in mind that you still need carbs - that is energy for the long haul; ya just have to keep it to some reasonable level. I use a bread machine and have for more than 20 years. Did the mixer routine before that and ever since don't know how/why I did that. I do not let the bread machine do everything as I can set it up to stop when done kneading, then dump the blob out, loaf shape to what ever I want letting it sit for a bit then pop it in the air fryer. Smaller enclosure so it bakes faster at a lower temp. Know that it disappears faster than any store bought.

Ozzy: Boy, we are gonna miss him. Who can forget biting a bat's head off - or Dove's for that matter. I seem to remember a snake also, but can't find any reference to that. Loved that last concert with him in the 'Kings' throne. The other Sabbath members too - when was the last time they were together - late 80's? And we thought T Nugent was the bad boy! My fav concert is still the one in Diamond Head, HI circa 1971, Santana opened for Led Zep and stole the show.

Shopping: love it, and like Willie mostly go for what is needed, along with side trips to meat and veggies to check out pricing. I have always told Maria 'If it is cheaper than hamburger, its dinner'. Yesterday Maria spotted $1.99 pork chops again, although she did not get any at that time. Those things are huge, almost 1" thick and bigger than normal. Probably go back today and stock up. Actually had the ones we bought last week for dinner. 3 minutes per side in a hot pan and done. Usually only use salt, pepper and garlic, this time added a touch of Fajita seasoning .. yummy!

I guess I must be part European. I like to shop daily. 😁

Most of you have been experiencing the high heat and humidity this week. Some may consider it just normal summer weather, but you have my sympathies. Stay hydrated and hopefully your AC keeps up with it. I hope I never have to experience another Black Flag day like the ones I experienced in Miami. When you can see the hazy moisture in the air it ain't good.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those wondering if a giant bat finally got revenge on the Prince of Darkness?

It's Troy again.

Worked on some models last evening, and a friend had a brilliant idea for storing them. I'll post the storage solution later.

First, meet the Infernal Automata. Capture a fire demon, stick him in a humanoid-shaped furnace, and send him out to blast your enemies!

I could see something like this at a BS or Oz concert. Not that I did much concert attendance. My hearing would be non-existant if I had gone to more than the handful.

I might name the above one Alice.

This one looks like Bob.

And this one... Definitely Ozzy

Good morning all, 87 already heading for 101F. Only plan for today is Church later tonight, so we are planning on staying in the AC. Had a new heat pump installed a couple of years ago and it handles this weather easily. And efficient, got the bill for last month and it was $182 for a brutal month temp wise last month.
@troyphoto you will appreciate this: I am attending Reapercon in Denton TX Labor Day Weekend and there are a lot of folks who give out small badge ribbons to hang on their con badge. I decided to make up some this year especially aimed at those who think they don't have to wash themselves.

I'll see you on the other side Ozzy. Thanks for all the memories and for being with me for most of my life. You may be gone from this earth, but you won't be forgotten. Your music and the stories of your antics will live on.

I was fortunate to see Ozzy too many times to count. Both with Black Sabbath and his solo bands. Black Sabbath has been my favorite band since I first heard my sister Cathy play their album. All the Ozzy shows I saw were great, he never disappointed me. I never saw anyone who could excite a crowd like Ozzy could.

For me, the two most memorable shows were with Black Sabbath at Ozzfest 2001 in Bristow, VA. And his first solo show in the US, April 1981, Towson, MD.

I bought his first solo Album "The Blizzard of Ozz" without ever hearing a single song. It had yet to be released in the US, but Record and Tape Traders had an import version. It was Ozzy, I knew it would be great, and I wasn't disappointed!

This was the first song I heard from that album. Ozzy's solo career was off and running!

Ozzy was a complicated and misunderstood person. This song captures some of that.
I'm not the kind of person you think I am
I'm not the anti-Christ or the iron man

Our local game store (owned by a woman) keeps travel size deodorant and breath mints in the restroom. For that very reason.

That said, there was one gamey gamer I felt really bad for. He came back from a couple of deployments in Iraq/Afganistan and developed a nasty skin infection. they got it cleared up, but he reeked 15 minutes after showering. They tried to keep him gaming, but casual shopper were noticing his odor despite him using medical grade deodorants, and the store keeping Febreeze plug-ins going.

99+% of gamey gamers, however, just need to develop a relationship with soap and water.

Yup, medical conditions are one thing, and just funky another. We had a player with a similar condition to what you described and when he came to play Battletech a couple of us would make sure to sit by him as we knew what it was and he could relax. Also, had 2 players with epilepsy whose parents made sure that I was at their kid's games or nearby as I knew how to deal with Grand Mal seizures. One the flip side of the coin, I have kicked foul players out of games I was running because they just didn't feel the need to use soap or deodorant.

Mornin' folks. It's 90F and 61% on the patio today. Weather app says it will reach 96, but I'm betting on hotter.

Two days ago I got a text from my sister asking if I wanted to come over for dinner today. I scratched my head a bit, 'cause she never asks outside of holidays. Then she started asking what I wanted, and whether I wanted cake or pie?

Yeah... I forgot until a couple of days ago that today is my birthday...

So later today I will head over to her place for burgers and fries. Yum! She makes the best burgers!

On the project front, however, I am... irritated.

I finally managed to get the train room cam all finished up and mounted, and... the autofocus refuses to focus. So now I'm going to have to go down a different rabbit hole, and worse, it's probably not a defective camera. Apparently this particular camera has problems in certain orientations. Not cool.

I was really looking forward to having that project done and over with, too, so I can finally get to the frigging point!

Anyhow...

I'm apparently getting rambly today, so I'll wander off now to get my day started. Have a good day, y'all!

Good evening all. The showers have stopped. A brighter evening ahead.
All the grandchildren are now on six weeks school holiday. They all move up one year next term.

Before that we are now hearing -------- (I know have posted this before, but ---)

Can I Sleep At Grandma's Today?

Mom, can I sleep at Grandma's today?

I heard on the bus this morning.....

When I managed to turn around to see the child, that made me go back to the past with one sentence...

She was no longer within my reach.

I travelled far...

When did time go by and make us adults full of boring priorities?

We fight everyday for something that we don't know if it's what we really want.

When in fact Grandma's house is what everyone would need to be happy.

Grandma's house is where the hands on the clock take a vacation with us and spend the minutes unhurriedly arriving.

Grandma's house is where simple pasta and homemade bread get different flavours. Delicious...

Grandma's house is where an innocent afternoon can last for an eternity of games and fantasies.

Grandma's house is where cupboards hide clothes and mysterious tools.

Grandma's house is where closed boxes become chests of secret treasures, ready to be unveiled.

Grandma's house is where toys rarely come ready. They are invented on the spot.

Grandma's house, everything is mysteriously possible. Magic happens and without worries.

Grandma's house is where we find the remains of our parents' childhood and the beginning of our lives.

Grandma's house, on the inside, is the address of our deepest affection, where everything is allowed.

That luxury no longer belongs to me, unfortunately. It will live with me only in memories.

Even so, if I could place an order now.... any order of all orders in the world, I would order the same thing....

Can I sleep at Grandma's today?
