So you're saying he has a good camera? haha
I never mentioned the camera; good as it is.

Look at a scene and see what you see, not what you thought you saw.

Nature is wonderful. It is not 'perfect'. It looks after the weak as well as the strong.

See the bare earth amongst the grassland. See the different shades of green and brown

A weed is only a plant that man does not want.

Look around and see Nature in a different light.

All kidding aside, you are correct with the vibrant colors and texture. These pictures make a good reference for modeling. It makes it seem like anything goes.

And I got a lot of plants I don't want in my yard unfortunately... :P

Good Morning All. Looks clear and 76° to start our day. NWS missed on their forecast of 100° yesterday; it only got to 97°. That's the forecast for today and after that, they really don't have a clue.

Saw the nurse-practitioner at the cardiologist's office yesterday and she stopped one medication and made an adjustment to another. I'll see how this goes. I thought that we were going to then meet with wife's sister for lunch, but the two of them postponed it until today. I know better than to ask why. First off this morning is a follow up visit to the ophthalmologist regarding the laser eye surgery from a couple of weeks ago. I cannot believe that my wife made the appointment for me at 8:30, 30 miles away!
The garden keeps giving! I usually don't have Tomatoes this late in July, but I picked an additional 25# of them yesterday. There's at least that many more green ones waiting on the vine. We may have to consider processing and canning some more. The Yellow Squash is still bearing, another surprise. Meanwhile the Zucchini right next to it pretty much just gave up with only a couple of fruits.

I finally made it out to the train shed yesterday, after missing a couple of days. Townspeople were happy to see me. Ran a few trains including moving the semi-static maintenance train to the next siding. Had a few issues with a scrap metal train, so I pulled all of the cars off the layout for a maintenance inspection of each one. My records show that most of this unit train was last inspected/maintained in 2016. I only run it from end to end about once a month. I believe that most of my issues will involve couplers on Blue Box cars.

Dave - You posted about the homemade TV dinners not going in to the microwave. My family didn't get a microwave until I had already left for college in '69.
Tom O - While I don't like that ScaleTrains doesn't stock more, or have more distributors; I agree that they are the best run model railroad company today.
Mac - Great pictures. I'm surprised that you don't attract more RR police!

Got more to post, but that 8:30 doctor appointment is creeping up on me and I have to get ready.
Everyone have a great Tuesday.

David can clue us in to the reality but I've been told by people supposedly from the UK that what we call English Muffin is not the same as a muffin in England. Supposedly, while they look similar, they're not the same sort of bread. I have no clue if that is true.

All I know is I love a good English Muffin, toasted, with butter. (And add on whatever you want - jam, cheese, an egg and sausage, or whatever -- I used to melt a ton of cheese on top in the oven after toasting with butter when I was younger).
I figure I’m good for 2-3 English Muffins per week. If served with breakfast toasted with 3 strips of bacon, lunches when used is usually with a Black Forest ham or with peanut butter that melts in the heat of the toasted muffin. Wonderfully and oh so gooey!

Good morning all!

Kind of an overcast hazy, humid start to the day. Currently a very muggy 70F heading up to a high of 87F. Maybe a very slight chance of a pop-up shower this afternoon, but its only a 15% chance. Pretty much the same as yesterday. Sun should burn the haze off later this morning.

Last night was our last night of volleyball league and the girls played really well. Kind of sad to see it end. It was kind of a fun thing to do on a Monday night and wasn't one of those sporting events that killed most of the day.

Have some light laundry and errands today, Im thinking of getting out and quickly running thru the yard today. It doesn't really need it but I really dont want to do it with the excessive heat coming over the next few days.

Have a safe day everyone!

Yes I saw them. I generally don’t comment on pricing as what is expensive to someone may not be to another

But $70 for containers is not good no matter if one can afford it or not

I’m surprised Lombard has not gotten back to you

I stop at Hiawatha at least 1 time per month. Lots less discounting now that the tariffs are in effect

I sold last Friday 54 Walthers Scenemaster brand containers 40’ for $7 and 45’ for $8 and still made money. 4 differed buyers. 1 looker asked if I’d 2 for ) $10. I said no

As of late I have been shopping at both of those places online. I have been searching for a particular locomotive for some time. Lombard had it in stock and I purchased it online. I got an email for confirmation etc. then 3 days later I was surprised I had not heard or received an email for shipping yet. Keeping that in my mind I was looking at some of their prices on some Atlas locos. I bought a 2nd locomotive. Went through the process etc. Got emails etc. Waited another day no mention of the 1st one being shipped yet. So, I decided to email them and mentioned my 2 orders. Lo behold they responded and told me the 1st locomotive was no longer available. This did not set well with me. Apparently, they sold it in the store AFTER I had purchased the unit. UGH! They refunded me for that unit (it was an Athearn Gen 2.0) gave me free shipping on the 2nd unit that was the Atlas unit. I got it last week Thursday. Glad to have gotten that but I was not happy on losing out on the 1st unit as it was very hard for me to find that unit. Eventually I hopped over to Hiawatha to see if they had one, they did but not the road number I wanted but I bought it anyways. Both of them stores are actually pretty good with service, but I was surprised on being cut out on the first order. I went to Train World to see if I could get the elusive locomotive with the correct number I was after looking no luck, but they had another completely different unit with 50 dollars off, and it was the last one so ya I bought it lol.

Anyways not much else new just been fishing and traveling all summer. Here and there I been working on my layout on rainy days but when fall comes we will get on it more.

Hope all is well with everyone. Will check back later down the road.

Morning all,

Sunny and 71°, going for a high of 93° with heat index to 103°.

As Kgstakes eluded to we had surprise severe storms overnight. We had a quick power stop that woke the wife as it killed her cpap. Looks like we ended up with about an inch of rain. No damage at my house.

Finding that napping is a good hobby. I think it has to do with the meds. Pain is under control (yes I actually have some after the 2 painless shoulder surgeries last year.) So far, I'm still glad I did it now.

Still hoping all went well with Boris!

No worries Chad, to each his own.

I always liked Wendy's burgers, but the last one (over three years ago) I had was an awful greasy mess! Like anything it comes down to who is working that day.

I seldom eat out; I can't remember the last time. I prefer to eat at home and my wife makes me a sandwich to take on the road every day.

Now I remember, we had KFC. They had an eight-piece bucket of dark meat chicken for $10. An offer I couldn't refuse. KFC's original recipe is the best fried chicken my money can buy! I love chicken thighs, and my wife prefers legs, perfect for us. The only problem is it doesn't taste as good reheated, and an eight-piece bucket is enough for two meals for us.

I bought Folgers' 100% Columbian coffee at Dollar General for $9.99. I thought it was a decent price. Until I went home and looked at it with my glasses on. It is only 19.2oz!

I prefer Maxwell House 100% Columbian (it's all in my head) I ordered two 35.7oz from Walmart for $17.16ea with free delivery. Not much different than Dollar General.

Pineapple and meat... I don't get it. Sweet and Savory are two different things. In my mind 🤪 the two should never mix. I never ate desserts. but I was known to make a meal out of sweets.

Amen brother!

I pay close attention to prices; all bread products are up across the board. Even Aldi's white bread went from $0.50 to $0.75. I have no idea why; it is what it is.

I've been buying Schimdt's 6-4-7 breads. The Keto friendly breads, they are better for me being diabetic and they are all expensive anyway. I buy what I need regardless of prices.
We buy what we need and sometimes prices be damned. I agree. Terry since retirement does price shop as both a form of enjoyment and frustration at times. She has mentioned a few times that while prices hadn’t changed, they really have because of shrinkflation on just about everything. Those 8 oz pork chops we used to buy became 6oz. Even in a good restaurant the 12oz t-bone is 10.

This diabetic beyond the English muffins I don’t eat much bread during a week. I do not like any bread if it’s been frozen (that’s me and it’s in my head). Until Covid I was baking my own but they weren’t always healthy.

I never tried the “Keto” breads, how is the taste?

Both your comment and MIGALYTO’s really shock me about Lombard Hobbies. I truly believe along with Midwest Model trains out of Independence, Mo. and Hiawatha Hobbies they are top 3 in the nation. But 2 poor service comments do bother me. No matter how many fruit snacks they include in a shipment can’t make up for that. I have had issues with other online shops that after I place the order a few days later they emailed saying it’s not in stock and they have always asked if I want to leave a credit there. That is a firm no.,

Trainworld 2 times has done that to me, not had what I ordered.

When I’m desperate for something I alway look at Pacific Western Rail Systems @ PWRS.CA. Dan almost always has it but at retail. He drives the packages over the border and mails from a USA post office and almost always the next day. I know lots of modelers complain about PWRS but I have never had a complaint. When he has a rare sale, it’s usually a pretty good one.

Enjoy the fishing

Good morning from a south facing deck in Wisconsin. It’s a breezy 69f degrees that feels like 80 with way too much smoke haze.

Tickets are purchased, it’s finally (again) Superman at 2:45pm at the theater! I think today we should get there (3rd attempt)!

I got an emergency text from the grandson at 8 this morning. He went with his mom to her office which is located near the new house. The slot car track had no power. 10 minutes later he had power. He was unaware the power to the track is part of the wall switches. He did ask when I’d be over. I replied why, his answer was you need to show me how to hide the cracks where the module sections join each other! Wow! Scenery today with the grandkid. Neither the daughter (his mom) or his uncle ever showed interest in my layouts until they were both in their 30’s. Hey it’s a small success but it’s a nice step! I’ll be heading over there after a quick breakfast as he’s cleaning and tuning cars right now.

About 6:15 this morning I had just finished my 3 mile walk and was relaxing on the front porch love seat. Woman walking her dog said hi and kept going. I’d never seen her before. About 15 minutes later they were walking back and she started a conversation from the sidewalk maybe 40’ away. She had moved into the apartment complex across the side street from me this past weekend. Then she and Ralphie the dog were about 10’ from where I sat. Just really introducing ourselves and she asked if I was married. Said happily and within 30 seconds she and Ralphie were on their way. Terry said when I told her, yep you still got it!

Enjoy the day
