First one is the steel trestle just west of Minot.

I'm guessing this SD40-2 is a former Union Pacific unit.

Good morning gentlemen. I'm on a cross country trip this week, vacation time. Started on Saturday morning and made it to southern part of Wisconsin by the end of the day. Yesterday spent several hours exploring Duluth, it's associated railroads and of course tried to photograph some iron ore train activity:View attachment 225327
Got into the Windy City no problem, but getting out was another matter.View attachment 225329
Next morning got off the interstate onto Route 53 directly to Duluth, some scenes on the way:View attachment 225333View attachment 225335View attachment 225332
Unused ore docks in Superior, WI:View attachment 225331View attachment 225330

The Hustle Muscle SD45 was pulling shot trips around Duluth:View attachment 225338
All familiar scenes! Glad you enjoyed it.

If you are traveling south in I-35 feel free to stop in, we live only 4 miles off the freeway about an hour south of Duluth

I drove that route often, must be us2. 107 miles to Williston, I think
Yes Sir, US2. I really enjoyed it two years ago when for the first time i drove it. This time i went straight north on route 53 to Duluth and started the journey on US2 from there. I must admit Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin have their own unique railroad beauty, especially with the iron mines and industry. The CN guys in Proctor didn't seem too friendly, but i did manage a few shots there:

Rare now and maybe one of its kind left in Bessemer paint scheme Tunnel motor:

This was one of my favorites in the Duluth museum:

It was impossible to get a good shot of it:

There is a very nice Northern Pacific 2-6-2 inside the main shed, but once again wery cramped for any good photos.

I love boats.
I do too! I've had many fun days on the water. As my back got progressively worse, I found it uncomfortable to ride on small boats. I still love the water, and the Atlantic Ocean is my favorite! Having said that I'm still glad I never gave into the strong temptation to buy a boat.

My favorite place on earth; Assateague Island, MD

The wild horses love it too!

The Troy Cave in the basement is a MESS!

The orkin guy is coming out soon–

An hour later....
The Orkin guy is gone. While I was typing the above, one of the bugs in the basement bit the back of my leg. No idea what kind of bug, but I keep a tennis racket shaped bug zapper down here for that occasion. While I was swinging it around my desk chair, not only did I get a satisfying crackle, I also got the text he was on his way.

So I finished pulling stuff out away from the baseboards in the basement. By this time, it was just my desk, printer cabinet, and the cat's chair.

He came and went. I put the basement back together, then finished typing this.

Good afternoon. It's partly cloudy and 94.
And my second air conditioner unit failed. I thought it was a little warm yesterday inside, but put it down to my perception.
Today, the compressor runs, but it only spits out hot air. I shut it down, and have retreated to the bedroom to try to stay sort-of cool. It's 84 humid degrees inside right now, even with one air conditioner running.

Sit in front of a fan.

Sometimes I like being outside so take the fan out with me. It helps!

We were blessed with a temp of 122. (They closed the Airport). That was the day my AC went out. The only thing to do was to get a Hotel until the AC was repaired. The AC guys made a lot of money that day.
