Well, howdy there internet peeps and those checking boxes.

It's Troy again.

Already worded 722 new words today. Realized that of my nieces, I still had a few more to put into my books. And since the one who just got married is an event planner for the facility where she got married, she'd be a natural fit in the plot of the current book with the debutante ball. It definitely needs an event planner.

and her younger sister, too. She's a good "take no sh!te" sidekick. Her line is going to be "Want me to smack 'em, boss?" I suspect she'll get to smack someone in the grand finale of the big whodunnit reveal."

Otherwise, I made it out for a grocery run for tonight. If we'd known it was MacNCheese day, I wouldn't have planned steak and sweet taters for tonight, since wife loves MacNCheese. But, I'll take her out to the wings place this week, so she can get her tenderloin with macncheese for her side.

Then I made the mistake of going for a walk. It was only 72° F out... with almost 70% humidity. I was drenched when I got back after a mile.

And today wasn't supposed to be the muggy on on the weatherman's muggy-meter graph.

I read an article yesterday listing the main reasons that many people do not want to move out of New York City. One of the principle ones was public transportation. It cited a statistic that 56% of the households in the city do not own an automobile. 56% - Wow! Hell! I have two neighbors, both single men over 80 who each own and drive 3 different vehicles! But I do understand. I have a 70 year old cousin living in Brooklyn, who has never even bothered to get a driver's license. My own mother didn't get a driver's license until she was 33 years old after we moved to Dallas.

My parents never drove until I was away at College. Main reason was the neighborhood markets were closing and they had to use supermarkets that didn't deliver, plus local stores were moving out to malls. For many years, they got by without a car. Chester was a considerably smaller city, but still a city in every way.

Good news, the kids have an occupancy permit for the house. The painters were scheduled already for this week. The flooring guys I need to call for next week. Now to see if I can push the pool guys…

It’s not been bad sharing our house with the daughter’s family but it will be great to have the place to ourselves again. The hilarious part of having them here has been Crosby their dog. Terry is definitely not a dog person. It took sometime before Crosby realized he should stay away from Terry before he even moved in. He likes to snuggle, with a dog Terry doesn’t. Now when she is in a room and he walks in and sees her, he goes about 4’ from her, sits down and waits for her to acknowledge him. He’ll then walk away to lay down nowhere near her. I just checked but I have no pictures of Crosby. He’s at work with the son in law or I’d take one now. He patrols the vineyard with the SIL 3 days a week and protects the daughter’s office the other 2 days. He has a tough life

That wasn’t cloud cover this morning. That was thick smoke haze from up north of the border. We have a strong breeze from the southwest to north east that has cleared the skies

Ok we wrote about driving in NYC and this showed up a few minutes ago

I love the internet!!!

Good morning gentlemen. I'm on a cross country trip this week, vacation time. Started on Saturday morning and made it to southern part of Wisconsin by the end of the day. Yesterday spent several hours exploring Duluth, it's associated railroads and of course tried to photograph some iron ore train activity:

Got into the Windy City no problem, but getting out was another matter.

Next morning got off the interstate onto Route 53 directly to Duluth, some scenes on the way:

Its funny how dogs gravitate to the person that wants to be around them the least.

Our Lab will do that all the time, and usually ignore the ones that will give them constant attention.

I do not know about dogs liking people, but cats maybe.

When Cranberry arrived (she arrived at Christmas time and had cranberry markings) she was a 'cruelty case'. We used to take cats and kittens in and find loving home. Anyway, Cranberry had had a really rough time (we were told). The only person she took to was Dawn. Dawn had her own guard cat. Anyone came close to Dawn, Cranberry would arch her back, hiss and spit; claws at the ready.

Oh! She would follow me when it was feeding time. I could do no wrong then.

Cranberry stayed with us for eighteen years. She wasn't going anywhere. Only when she decided to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
