Warm day today. Off in the distance it looks like thunder heads building up down around Bend.

Good morning gang!

Like the rest of you it’s gonna be mostly cloudy day here also. Currently 73° going for a high of 85°. Looks like about a 70% chance of precipitation this afternoon.

Today’s the day six weeks after the heart surgery and I’m heading back to work.

Later gators!

Good morning all!

A nice day in store today. Currently 62F heading up to a high of 85F under mostly sunny skies. No rain in the forecast.

Other than some light household chores, not much else planned. Do have a volleyball game tonight for my daughters league.

Karl-Good luck on your first day back to work.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

Once again, I'm finding myself behind the 8-ball and getting behind on things. Trying to get as much done both here at work and at home before I'm out for the next 6 weeks or so.

Finished harvesting the carrots, picked about 10 nice sized tomatoes, and 3 rather large peppers. Trying to figure out how a 14 inch tall pepper plant grew a 9" deep pepper. 2 peppers weighed in at over a pound. Okra got ahead of me, but salvaged a pound or so. The plants still blooming, so more chances for more yet. Also got 3 cucumbers. If I can catch them small, they aren't bad.

Chad: The old email addresses are remaining up until January 1st. We announced that addresses will change 10 days before they did, (never mind I've been constructing the stuff in the background since April), and that really isn't time to have everyone update there outside accounts to the new addresses.

Karl: Have a good first day back!

And on January 2nd, you'll have a hundred support tickets for email not working...

Good Morning All. Clear and a cool 70° out there this morning. Last cool day in the forecast with the high today only predicted to be 90°. So far it's been a relatively milder July than normal for us. 90° might seem rather warm to you guys up north, but not here in July. The NWS finally quietly removed the Flash Flood Watch from the forecast for the 22 counties around me, after there was little to no rain in North Central Texas. Dallas got some showers off and on all weekend, but not even close to 1". It's raining in the western part of that county now, but it's not expected to reach here. It's about 65 miles away.

Typical Sunday here yesterday, church, then the dishwasher, two loads of laundry and the day was mostly shot by then. The plan to mow some more didn't happen but I did get another 2 yards of grass clippings raked up and moved to the garden. Then I had to stop to pre-make ground turkey burgers for supper. They require at least an hour in the fridge before cooking or they fall apart. Then it was a choice between the mowing or heading for the train shed with the pool squeezed in between then and supper. Can't miss the cocktail hour that happens in the pool for three months in the summer! Wife has a special wine glass that floats on the water. I actually went out to the garden after supper and picked Yellow Squash and Tomatoes, something that I rarely do.

Looking forward to this week as the only scheduled trek is groceries on Thursday. Our friend's memorial service hasn't been scheduled yet, so that may happen. I had to be somewhere for 6 of the last 8 days. The thing that I looked forward to the most when I retired, was not having to leave and be somewhere else every day.

I did make the choice to head out to the train shed, where I ran trains but only cleaned up 2 structures, about 26 left to go in this quarter's cleaning project. I did however do a few vehicles. The work train has been parked on a grain elevator siding in Vernon for now. Since this is a dedicated siding, it doesn't interfere with any other switching operations.

Louis - Several boat owners that I have known over the years expressed the same sentiment about boats, as well as the sentiment about the two best days in a boat owners life. I was never even tempted. My FIL had a bass boat for many years; he used it about 20 times a year. Always brought his own gasoline since marina prices generally sucked.
Dave/Tom O - Sorry to read about the Canadian smoke/haze. That would bother me. I guess that no one has figured out how to apply a tariff on it yet. At least our West Texas dust storms blow in and are done with in 3-4 hours.

I read an article yesterday listing the main reasons that many people do not want to move out of New York City. One of the principle ones was public transportation. It cited a statistic that 56% of the households in the city do not own an automobile. 56% - Wow! Hell! I have two neighbors, both single men over 80 who each own and drive 3 different vehicles! But I do understand. I have a 70 year old cousin living in Brooklyn, who has never even bothered to get a driver's license. My own mother didn't get a driver's license until she was 33 years old after we moved to Dallas.

Today is National Mac and Cheese Day, best celebrated with homemade.
Everybody have a marvelous Monday.

Good morning from what the WeatherChannel app says is a sunny morning. They do need to look out the windows though as the sun is out there but somewhere behind a thick layer of clouds and definitely is not peaking through! It’s 64f degrees heading into the high 80’s. The dew point is 63 degrees and the back deck’s flooring is very wet, so it’s pretty humid at 97%! The highest chance over the next 24 hours per the app is 2% at 10am so I am semi confident there won’t be rain today.

We took the grandkids to see the movie LILO and STITCH yesterday afternoon. It’s a great family movie, funny, heart tugging and corny. Nothing at all what I was anticipating. It’s not a cartoon.

The house inspector will be at the kids house at 8:30 today. Basically the house is inspection ready. Just the final painting and appliances need to be installed.

While this is the first time working with this contractor as the lead contractor I have worked with him previously. He was the lead foreman for our previously now retired contractor. He turned that business over to his daughter who worked with us on our last build. We didn’t mesh in that job and I couldn’t convince her dad to be the project manager for this job. So when the lead foreman approached us he was going into business we talked along with other contractors. I’m super happy so far plus he’s 4-5 weeks ahead of schedule. Terry and I will sit with him this week as we want to do something very different for us. Spec homes! Why, because I’m somewhat bored…

Enjoy your day

The niece who got married in May in Pasadena went to college at NYU. She stayed for 20 years after to act and also teach at NYU. Got her license in Chicago at 16 in high school. Never drove a car for her 4 years of college or the 20 years after except in the few visits home to Chicago. Our son when she decided to move to the LA area helped her move what little stuff she took with. He said her driving skills were non-existent and scary. But by time they got to LA she was better. You just don’t need a car in some East Coast cities.

Good morning all,

62 and sunny, calm winds, forecast to hit 88 today.

Switching out some train cars this morning then attempting to replace hinge pins on front door of the suburban.

Attempted to replace hinges a couple years ago, disassembled it, and found I could not fully unbolt without removing the quarter panel.

So I ordered just the pins and watched some YouTube videos and we shall see...

Electronic windows and locks, so cannot fully remove door without cutting the wires.

Suspect they were not anticipating us to be driving this for 35 years.

Wish me luck

Dave LASM

It's relatively nice here this morning for mid-July. It's 74°F here, even on the south side of a cold front. I opened the windows and shut of the A/C, but I don't know how long that will last. Supposed to be only 88°F today, but the dewpoint is probably going to make me close the windows by noon. Dewpoint is also 74°F, and there was heavy fog across most of the Metro-East this morning, and is dissipating slowly.

Rain later today with this unstable front to the north wobbling north and south. If the sun comes out the instability is going to increase producing thunderstorms by this afternoon.

Still have not had enough dry conditions to cut grass. Growth has slowed some and it's not the jungle I expected it to be after 10 days, but it is getting thick.
