Good morning,

57, headed for 88. A bit smoky, not nearly as bad as Thurs afternoon.

A quiet morning in the neighborhood. Church followed by question mark lunch today.

Finished the bondo, primer, and undercoating on my driver side quarter panel yesterday, had time to mow lawn, done by 630. Beans, bread, and butter for supper.

It is amazing what can satisfy the appetite when hungry and tired. At least I heated up the beans.

Good morning to all those who have fantasies or participated in one yesterday! I’m happily struck in Wisconsin where the weather has calmed but is still extremely humid but now with bad air warnings. The Canadian haze has settled in over us and those who have breathing issues are suffering and that includes Terry. 63f degrees now 84 later and it’s overcast. No rain or storms in the guessing forecast till Wednesday.

The grand kiddos parents are heading out at 11 for an adults only no kiddos boating trip. 4 couples have rented a pontoon boat from noon to 5 so we have the 2 rugrats today. We are heading to the movies at 2 and I think 5 Guys after for an early dinner. Should be fun…

We did not get to the Art on the Square yesterday. Seems Friday’s severe storms interrupted set up for the vendors so the organizers delayed the opening 3 hours till noon. Instead of closing at 5 they let the artists sell till 7. The entertainment though stayed the same, playing on 4 stages till 11. Crowds yesterday supposedly were still record breaking. We had planned to be there at 10 but at noon Terry was already feeling the effects of the Canadian haze and humidity. So we stayed home though at 9 we had already hit up a local Farmers Market.

Last night at dinner with the kids the grandson asked when they were getting a boat as everyone loves it when they use one? I listened as the daughter explained never. Given a choice of dropping a Summer sport or getting a boat what would he do? He said he’d still play and get a boat. Boats are expensive he was told and the choice is because they could not afford to do both. He sort of understood that. He did mention she had a boat as a kid. She turned to me and said, dad! I told him while yes we lived on the water for years all the water toys were not ours but my brother’s and we borrowed them or friends came over and shared with us. Honestly, if Terry and I could go back we would never have purchased the place on the lake. Every weekend it became entertainment central. It really was a lot of work. While I didn’t tell Brooks the grandson it was more my brother’s insistence we use his stuff or they rarely would have been used. We did pay for the gas down at the marina but that was it. Worked out great for us but I still cringe when I think about the costs when we 1st put the docks in.

The grandson had his crew over yesterday and when Terry and I went and did a last minute decision to grocery shop ( $.25 per gallon savings for every $50 spent). We are having a party in a couple weeks and we stocked up early spending $260+! So now I have a total of $3.40 off per gallon. Anyway the grandson and Crew cleaned up very nicely the area where the slot track was and then they went swimming at one of the kids houses. No decisions have been decided if I’m expanding the layout into the space.

End of August we are heading to 4 nights In Vancouver and 3 nights in Seattle. We normally go to a new city and wing it but this time we are going to be organized seeing Vancouver. She even has a whale watching trip included. Different for us planning ahead! After Seattle we are unsure what to do next. I’m the one shying away from the trip down the tracks on Amtrak to LA. She is ok with taking the train but I’m not up for dirty spaces and bad bathroom facalities. The reviews are so mixed on the Coast Skylight. The only thing ruled out is the 11 day cruise to Hawaii. We’ll do a trip around the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean 1st before a 6 day ocean crossing. I did find out why the cruise cost was relatively inexpensive. In September they move the cruise shipping that normally do the Alaska trips over to Hawaii for the winter months! Well are thinking about renting a SUV and driving to LA. I know we won’t be flying as we may never be in that area again to see the specular scenery.

Flo, I am hungry! Please a garbage omelette, no mushrooms, with sourdough toast, no potatoes but another diet Dr Pepper. Sure I’ll take the fruit instead of potatoes.

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 72°. Still under a flash flood watch, but it's going to have to rain first, I think. At least that's how it usually works. Forecast is still for the mid-80's today through Tuesday.

Yesterday's celebration of life service for my wife's cousin went well. Just like I like to see, no mourners, just positive reflections. He had had a stroke back in April and had spent the last 77 days in the hospital. Lots of food afterward, but no condiments for the sandwiches! My BIL from San Antonio was there and we caught up with the deceased's sister who we hadn't seen in about 10 years.
After arriving home and taking a nap, I was able to mow a pretty large swath of the front yard. Need to complete it today and rake up the hay rows left from yesterday.

I've got almost an acre of this! I posted the other day that it had gotten out of hand.
But that won't happen until after church and the dishwasher once again.

I did not visit the train shed yesterday, since the day was too full already. No shortage of projects though.

Where I live, there is a pool.
There are also security cameras.
In Texas, it's not against the law to skinny-dip on private property. There's a place on Lake Travis in Austin called Hippie Hollow Park, which is the only clothing-optional public area in the state.

The cooker is not working properly, so a new one is arriving sometime today.
I thought that you were the cooker?

Everyone have a great Sunday

Being born and raised in southeast Baltimore, many of my friends and family had boats. One of them told me; "A boat is a hole in the water you throw money into" Making me glad I never gave into the temptation to buy one.
I grew up near a popular suburban lake so benefited from buddies lake homes and docks, could hold my own on a pair of water skiis,

However later in life enjoyed canoeing, then purchased a couple kayaks. Those got lots of miles and hundreds of hours of fun.

Living 8 miles from the St. Croix, a "Wild and Scenic River" destination, we enjoyed numerous downstream paddles on different legs, including a fair amount of whitewater.

We would shuttle the kayaks in the bed of our pickup truck, and only paddle downstream.

That fun lasted 10 years. The kayaks were sold in 2014. Something we could still do in our "old" age.

TomO: Geesh, now ima hungry. In your planning, instead of the ferry Seattle to Bremerton, then down 101 - if you have time, go up to Mukilteo ( I5 ) then take the ferry to Whidbey Island. Up the Island to Fort Casey then the Ferry to Port Townsend. SR20 takes you to US101 of which you can either direction on US101. US101 basically loops around the Olympic Peninsula. If you go toward Port Angles ( West ), you can get to the furthest point West of the lower 48; Cape Flattery using SR112 not far from Port Angles. Back to 101 and head South. Long Beach Washington's claim to fame is the longest beach in the world on a Peninsula; 28 miles of sand. Back South on the 101 and cross the Columbia to Astoria then continue South down the Oregon coast. Garibaldi ( Tillamook Bay ) has a scenic railroad that is worth the ride. Great seafood resturants too. A ways into California, you will find SR1 which goes all the way to San Fran on the coast and cross the Golden Gate if desired. I don't think I would go to San Fran, I would go North on the 101 again up to San Rafael and I580 then I80. I would fly out of Sacramento assuming you are going to drop your SUV. You wanted scenery - you got it. SR1 past San Fran is pretty much the same all the way into LA, and by now you probably will be tired of the Pacific Ocean anyway:cool:

There are places everywhere to sight see and buy stuff and eat. Motels abound.

The reviews are so mixed on the Coast Skylight.
From experience, take reviews with a grain of salt. On the other hand, We have full pass privileges, but I will not use the train outside of the Northeast Corridor, and that, not since 2010. Nothing in particular, just don't like Amtrak Attitude.

Late trains breed quick turnarounds and dirtier cars. The general traveling public have become slobs. All of that adds up to unpleasant trips or flights. A LD train tales longer, prolonging the unpleasantness.

Sidebar: The NY Fire Wire showed a scene of the Beach at Coney Island, last Friday. It looked horrible with trash and worse all over the beach.

Happy Sunday every one. Last night I started the "decontamination" process, for the Spine Surgery I may or may not have on Thursday. Five consecutive nights of using anti-bacterial wash when showering. Everything is contingent on clearance from a Hematologist, I have never seen. Over a "condition" that from what I can determine has been present since 11/30/2022.

The problem is my blood clots at a slower rate than "normal" rate.... Probable cause is 81MG Aspirin therapy which is designed to prevent blood clots and related damage.

If this guy wants to order additional testing, then the surgery is rescheduled.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those throwing money into holes.

It's Troy again.

Lime TOM, we'll probably be going to 5 Guys to celebrate National French Fry Day

Had a fun morning at the game store. Played vs an opponent I haven't played but once. So here are some highlghts.

July 13-3.png

Her tall ladies did a number on my short dudes, but I kept her force off the objective zone for a turn

July 13-4.png

Same thing over here, I kept her off the objective zone early. Those little dudes were resilient and hung on for another turn.

July 13-5.png

Her tall ladies charged my drake! But it hung on until time was called.

Now it's time to clean the cat box and do the trash.
