The coat of arms on the front of that should have been reconsidered before application. It looks like a bug splattered on there.
An old train that has been revived to do tours.

Good morning Crew. So. Central Wisconsin’s forecast at wake up is much dryer than it was yesterday around 8pm. The storms have blown through my area and anything coming is now tracking way north of us today. Currently 67f degrees going to the low 80’s. Humidity is at 100% and very thick it felt like and the dew point is 67 degrees. Yesterday I emptied the rain gauge 3 times. Total of the 3 was roughly 3.25”. I emptied after 2 of the 3 storms that roared over us. The 3rd empty was just before bed at midnight. Overnight though we received another rough 2.5” in the gauge. So the area definitely is soaked.

Art Fair on the Square replaces the Farmers Market around the Wisconsin State Capital building today and tomorrow. Always a must see if the weather is decent. Terry will decide that. Because of the continued rain forecasts we basically ruled out today. But with a dry day predicted I bet we go for awhile. I enjoy it immensely but have really noticed the crazy pricing at the Madison show. It was explained years ago to us by an artist that there are a few Wisconsin shows the artists raise their prices from the other weekend shows. Madison, Wausau, Kenosha’s and Milwaukee! There’s more people viewing the art at these shows. More eyes, higher prices. A normal weekend in other Wisconsin cities might be total 5-7000 visitors. The Madison event will have that by noon today. Here’s the website propaganda:

With its mix of music, entertainment, and outdoor dining, as well as over 500 artists exhibiting paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, jewelry, handmade clothing and accessories, and fine craft, the fair draws nearly 200,000 visitors to Madison’s Capitol Square.

There is an off-shoot art fair 3 blocks away that draws lots of less well off artists and they draw a great crowd too. This is a weekend we’ve always enjoyed.

The kids yesterday got the slot car track set up but they need to make all the wiring connections. They worked very well together but didn’t have time to finish it. I ran a bus line under the track just like we do for DCC wiring of a model train layout. They just need to connect between modules to get the track running again. 3 lanes, pit lanes, grandstands and scenery. DCC for slot cars has had the same type of impact it has for trains. Being able to switch lanes anywhere is awesome. We run the track at 9-10 volts because the cars are unrealistically fast at 12-15 volts. If I remember I’ll get pictures. I grew up with Lionel O27, then slot cars, then golf and work, then girls, golf and college, then real life work after college. The trains while not always in the forefront were always lurking. But the slot cars were almost as much fun as the trains to me. I’m happy to see the grandson have interest in the slot cars and now with his friends.

Monday morning along with the daughter, her hubby and the contractor we are walking through the new house. The original plan was move in September but the contractor had available crews. A few minor things to finish, the pool is still a couple months from finish but we want to schedule the building inspector for the final inspection. Painting has to be done but the inspector doesn’t worry about that. The painter told me they need 5 days notice and will get it done in 3 days weather permitting!

Cold calling is a humbling but rewarding experience in commercial sales. Residential cold calling I’ve never done but it just seems so much worst. As Marlin39 says they work off a script. They aren’t intentionally lying especially if they are Summer hires. Verona has an ordinance against door to door sales with paid off exceptions. Spectrum TV, media Internet whatever they are selling this month comes door to door releasing 4 sales people at one of the main roads in our community. They must succeed enough to keep doing it twice a year and pay the fees to canvass the City.

I doubt I’ll be in the train room today

Enjoy the day

Uh, let me guess. I wish my wife was so in to pizza. I have a floor tile that I use for pizza and even modified my weber to maintain temperature. I have the same lodge pan to make deep dish.
We're actually going out to one of her favorite places for italian. Real close to home. Then to the drug store to pick up a prescription for her mother. The two are very close to each other, so it's an easy trip.

Not to ruin everyone's day, but I saw this quote from a Dr. this morning......

A person with “bad habits” who avoids doctors may outlive someone with “healthy habits” who trusts the system. Why? Because medical error is the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. Sometimes avoiding the system is the healthier choice.

I've been blessed the last 20+ years with a Dr's Doctor. Other physicians go to him for their care. I've never needed a specialist, on an annual or regular basis, other than a dermatologist. Tomorrow ain't guaranteed. I definitely don't take my health for granted. I'm lucky and blessed.....so far.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a warmish 76°; not supposed to get out of the upper 80's today. The NWS has issued an "Active Flash Flood Watch" for 22 counties here in North Central Texas and also for parts of southern Oklahoma. It's in effect from Saturday afternoon until Sunday evening. Thunderstorms are predicted to start about 7:00 pm. Might flood my front yard for a couple of hours, but only because the county road crew doesn't maintain the drainage ditches alongside our main road very well.

Headed out this morning for the memorial service for my wife's cousin, about 65 miles away. Service starts at 11:00. I'm not sure whether or not there is a graveside service along with it or not. Playing this one by ear. Other than the deceased and my BIL, I won't know anyone there. I last saw both of them at Christmas. Kind of a drag that I have to wear long pants and socks today.
Yesterday was a typical day for me, did some more mulching in the garden and picked about 2 dozen Tomatoes. Finally finished trimming the tops and roots from May's Onion harvest, as they had all finally dried/cured. They'll be stored in bins under the train shed overhang until they are used up. They normally last into December before cooler temperatures cause them to start to sprout. If they last that long, I take the remaining ones and chop and freeze them. I should have mowed yesterday, but didn't. I'll need to do it this afternoon after we get home because if this rain really does materialize, I won't be able to get it done until mid-week. By then what needs it now will be an absolute hayfield.

Out in the train shed yesterday, all that I did was to continue to clean structures. I mentioned the bank yesterday, and I thought to repost my favorite scene on the layout.

I have to give credit to Mike for alerting me to this 3d printed kit.

Dave - Since we're on a septic tank, I have my preferred trees, one by the garden, another outside the train shed, two near the back door, one by the pool and several rarely used ones out the front door.
Troy - I never really did the laundry math, but here it is shorts/tees from mid-February til after Thanksgiving. I still only wear socks 3-4 times a year though.
Louis - I got a few eyefuls when collecting for my paper route during HS. Several different houses many times. Some of them were really decent views. There were also the lingerie views as well. I didn't need Playboy!
Tom O - I remember you posting some Art Fair pictures a few years ago. Pre-Covid I believe. Looked like a really interesting affair.

Today is International Skinny Dip Day. Easy to do if you have a pool like I do. Participate if you dare.
Everyone have a wonderful Saturday.

Good morning all

Heavy smoke in the air again, winds just right for that.

Corn and Clover festival in Hinckley MN today. It's fair food for supper! Not supposed to rain here.

Adding some details to the new Crex warehouse, then pics.

I was talking to a noisy red squirrel this morning and my bird app confused that sound for a mockingbird...honestly...

Back later, Dave LASM

Good morning gang!

Saturday morning and I woke up to the smell of pickling brine. Wife is attacking the bumper crop of cucumbers we have with dill, garlic, and other spices. Mason jars are lined up like soldiers on the counter. The smell is strong, but the pickles should be yummy. I’ve already heard we need more dill so a trip to the farmers market is being planned.

Later my little red truck will be leaving its garage and shaking off its mantle of dust and cobwebs to go join the unofficial weekly car show at the local Home Depot. That means 1st a bath for the truck . Something I have been wanting to do since spring was sprung, but I haven’t felt up to it. Now I do feel up to it. Thanks to modern medicine and a certain surgical team!

Speaking of feeling better, I will be back at work on Monday!

Willie, I got one of them too. I have got to finish the people.

My BIL passed a little over a month ago. He was about 7 years younger than my wife and was the reason why we came back to Japan. He died of cancer that was in his lungs, duodenum and another place that I can't recall right now. She went to the hospital everyday to take him food, drink and cheer. I was concerned that he was losing too much weight since he was already skin and bones before. I made him steak and pizza to try to get some calories in. Need food to fight the fight. He always called for her so I told her go and concentrate on him. He was always happy to see her.

We had the funeral where we accompanied him to the mortuary for his cremation. After it was done, the family helped to place his bones in the urn with chopsticks. His son, who had just graduated high school, then took custody of the urn and we returned home. At the 30 day service, we took the urn to the temple and had his internment service. We placed his urn in the tomb alongside his mother and father.

It is heartbreaking and sucks.

Good Morning All!
56F @ 59% clear, to be near 90F later. To hot to do outside stuff, so bout noon will come inside and putter around. I sprung for 3rd Plan It as I need to see the different elevations of which XtrackCad does not do well at all. 3PI has rubber banding for tracks ( and other objects ), shading, trees and quite an assortment of buildings to make things standout. Fun, fun.

Door Knockers
: We don't get that many. We usually see them coming up the drive - so strap on the .45 on and wait. Eyes get big when spotted, their spiel gets quite short most of the time and they listen when we tell them to shoo... We quit buying those mints from GS, shrinkflation and inflation at the same time. Better off getting a bag of Oreo's, those are still good for the soul.

Years ago I delivered pizza for Domino's. You should have seen some of those sights! Mostly lonely women showing off. Some good, some not so good, but it was all fun. Usually a 'Oh my, you look really cute today' while handing them a pie making sure my wedding ring showed, and the tip got bigger. Wasn't married, cheated. Only to have a body cam in those years!

According to a WARN notice released on Friday, Intel is going to lay off 2,392 employees at four locations in the Hillsboro/Beaverton area on Tuesday, July 15...

This is really going to suck for the Hillsboro/Beaverton area. Intel is the largest employer in OR. There's been a lot of RIF's in Silicon Forest (Washington County) recently. There's only about 4.3 million people in the entire state.

Intel was a customer, for a short period. Getting a World Wide ID was a PITA. The background checks, security, NDA, safety protocols, etc took a couple of weeks, but I had access to all their buildings. Doing business with their construction & other contract vendors was just the opposite, simple & easy,....and so was the billing.

If it didn't work they wouldn't be doing it....year after year.
People are gullible. Several years ago, about ten , perhaps, this organization targeted the neighborhood, because the original HVAC systems were aging out. The sales force arrived in vans and spread out banging on doors, using a tailored script designed to scare the beejeebers out of unsuspecting home owners. If they missed you they made note and returned. Over 50% of the neighborhood signed up and handed over a deposit check. They put advertising placards on all their customers (?) lawns, and finally moved on. This was perhaps April, or early May. They didn't start installation until late August early September so the neighbors were upset. But...the next year, the same group with the same mode of operation, was back, selling roofs.

From personal encounters, if you said NO!, they got upset and Nasty. But 50% signed on and allowed Schmuck Markers to be placed on their lawns, to let other sales people know they were good marks.

Good morning all!

Welcome to the weekend!

Currently 70F with a high of 82F on this cloudy vey humid day. Sun should make an appearance later once the rest of this system
blows out of here. Looks like the rain and thunderstorms last night left almost 3" of rain in the gauge plus the 1" from the previous
nights storm.

Not much on the agenda today. Do defiantly have to let some water out of the pool this morning. I topped it off on Wednesday
due to enough evaporating and going below the sweet spot on the skimmer causing aeration in the pump. With the 2 nights of
heavy rain it has now put it about an 1" form the top of the skimmer. Probably a bunch of leaves to clean out as well.

Have a safe day everyone!

It’s hot out. I may do my walk tonight after the sun goes down. I need to catch up with my side gig today. And a class I paid for online.

No new yesterday from the place I interviewed with. Still waiting there. They said would be a few days to get back. Don’t know if a delay is good or bad.

Also had a short call with an external recruiter company. They’re going to submit me at an other local company here. And I have a recruiter screening call Monday for another job.
