I believe a couple of you guys have iPads so I have a question. Can I drop an icon on top of another icon to create a folder?
Been a while since I've bothered rearranging my home screen, but if I remember correctly, you should be able to hold your finger down on an icon 'til they start shaking at you, then drag one on top of the other, or into a pre-existing folder.

Like I said, though, it's been a while, and I'm not on my iPad at the moment. :)

Younger granddaughter is staying tonight.
It is amazing to me that our children are not really interested of Dawn and my early life, yet our grandchildren are.
“Tell us a story, Papa. Tell us a story,” the grandchildren say.
Then as they sit, a story is told.

Sometimes they ask about my mother. What was she like? etc.etc. Today was one of them
That is when I have to go into make believe, because I know very, very little about her.

You see most people know the Dash of Life, yet know so little.
--------------------------------------------
The Dash of Life

A walk around any cemetery you find the same. Gravestones; some old, some not so. All have the same on them. The name, date of birth and date of death. Between those dates is the Dash of Life. The Dash of Life, the most important part of the person buried, yet very little, if anything, is known. What did the person do in life? The ups and down of life; tears of sadness, the tears of joy. Knowing of other births, other deaths. The daily life, birthdays, Christmases, a myriad of emotions. The Dash of Life now forgotten, just a date of birth and a date of death.

See. Here is one. Born 1924, died 1947, a young woman just 23 years of age. See also a baby is there also. A baby girl born and died not the same day, but three days before her mother passed to the other side. Did the mother die because of complications of the birth of the girl. Nobody knows except a few. The Dash of Life doesn’t tell us.

Those that know know the woman was born in the U.S.A.; Pennsylvania so it has been said. American born father Scottish born mother, two older sisters and a younger brother her immediate family. Nothing is known of her childhood. Those that knew never told. Those that didn’t never asked.

Whatever, her father died and her mother and children. left the U.S.A., their destination England. They settled in the county of Northumberland. Her two sisters and brother married locally. Their own stories are their own Dash of Life.

The Dash of Life of the young lady was coming to the end, though of course she did not know it. The Second World War began. Once again the Dash of Life is but a dash. Little is known of what she did in the war, but as the saying goes ‘She did her bit’. Sometime near the end of the war she met the love of her life. They married after the war ended. Just a local ceremony in a Registry Office. A child is expected; no it is twins.

It is said, a difficult birth. Difficult is an understatement. A girl is born then a boy. What was joy to the lady began to turn to despair. The girl died within two hours, the boy suffered a stroke and has a hole in the heart. He was not expected to live long. Twenty four hours passed, then forty eight the boy still lives. Then everything changes.

The story goes, the lady began choking. What caused it is unknown, but other patients began calling for a nurse to attend. The nurses were having a tea break and ignored the pleas for help. Eventually a nurse did attend after her tea break, but it was too late.

THE DASH OF LIFE of a twenty three year old. 1924 - 1947
---------------------------------
A story is told of a pretty American girl who was more beautiful as she grew older. Did well at school, wanting a better life. She even learned to fly aircraft at a local airfield. During the war she flew various kinds of aircraft to aerodromes around the U.K.; mainly the North of England and Southern Scotland.. By studying and hard work she achieved her ambition.

You see my dear you can achieve your dreams. Study at school. Achieve your goals. See where they take you?

hey all
Started off the day going to church. now chilling at home as its muggy as all get out, THANKS Indiana weather. I'm ready for winter give me the cold and the snow. and from what I hear winters in my neck of the woods are often big so we shall see.

aside from that does anyone ever go in their train room looking for something in particular then end up wasting a Few hours playing with trains or fidgeting with something on the layout or the beginnings of one in my case.
anyway hope all is well anthony

Our cake. Today is one of the few days per year I do not worry about calories or sugar consumption.

My Athearn parts finally arrived. Since I bought two sets of powered trucks, I changed out the trucks onmy caboose. It had kadees that used axle wipers. They worked but had a lot of drag and some flickering. I have a bridge rectifier and capacitor for stay alive. With this set, I now have 4 wheels per side picking up power vice 2. I also put a flashing tail lamp on it. Took a few shots to catch it.

Can you provide the Athearn part number for these trucks?

Thanks....John

I just heard there may be some tornado-like weather somewhere near Troy's house. Hopefully nothing bad happens there--or anywhere, really.
Didn't see anything and the Condo was still standing when I got back from the game store.

For Louis' enjoyment (the rest of you can look, too:

Had a fun game today. the Biological brutes my opponents call her "teletubbies" attacked my fire drake:
July 27-5.png

Did four wounds to it.

I did some damage back. Next round the tubbies got five hits, and I used the special magic power to avoid all of them. There was much grumbling. This was after she needed to roll 3 or less on 15 dice to avoid damage on a different part of the battle... and made all 15 saves! So I wasn't feeling sorry to magically dodge 5 wounds.

My steel guys charged into the teletubbies, and it became lopsided quickly.

Here's her last tubbie about to become drake food...

And here's my stout unit of Dwarves with really big shields and really long spears taking on the "Tall Ladies" ... yes, I got her to start singing "All the Single Ladies"...

@Marlin39 Happy Anniversary!
@troyphoto thanks for the great pics from the game.
94 here right now and Hot! Great day at church, two really good messages. Got home took a quick nap and now am going through messages. Supposed to be pushing 100 for the next couple of days then some cooler weather with storms around Wednesday. I will predict leftovers for dinner tonight as Lady C has been making dinners the last few nights.

On tips: am I the only one who thinks that tips should never be added as a "mandatory gratuity" to restaurant checks? The whole point was to reward for good service, or so I thought...
The ones that do add it don’t get any more. I normally tip 20-25%. If they add a mandatory one then that’s it. They’ve chosen the stupid way. (Typically 18% from what I’ve seen for the mandatory ones).

A friend of mine is about 20 miles East of Elkhart and tornado sirens activated. I haven't heard back from her if there was an actual tornado. I know it's not "next door", but as flat as that area is, you might have seen a stray lawn chair fly past.
