Afternoon All,

Started out the day at 79F and very humid. After breakfast I did inside chores and getting ready for the Friday/Saturday trip to help out with the rescue fundraiser then Sunday is an actual rescue, so I'll be gone until Monday.

Joe- Thanks for the advice. Interesting photo (CSX). The "cutie" bit the crap out of my finger last night.

Troy- That meme is the story of my life.

TomO- My doc is the same way about weight.

Willie- It looks like the donkey wants to help.

David- Great photos of the granddaughter.

Sherrel- Typical government BS. I saw that someone in LA won the $1 Billion lottery. Maybe now he can afford a larger tent there.:D

I hope everyone has a good night.

I had Lasik surgery in 2004, and have not needed glasses (except readers) since. I was 30 years old, so the doctor left each eye a little near sighted so as I aged, it would delay the need for readers.

I usually read in bed for a half hour or so before I go to sleep, and it took me a good 6 months after the laser surgery to finally NOT try to take off my glasses when done reading... or reaching for my glasses in the middle of the night just to be able to read the clock if I woke up.

Yeah I was in my early 40s and the doctor left the left eye a little near sighted so that it would even out as I aged. I don't use readers to read but when working with DCC and other small wires, chips, and also gun parts etc I will use readers so I can focus and see the small stuff clearly and up close. I've mot needed glasses since though I had had glasses for seeing far away (I was extremely near sighted before) since junior high. My current sight is not as good as it was right after the surgery but I still have no need for glasses for seeing things far away, even if not quite as clearly as 12-14 years ago -- I forget exactly when I had it. The guy who did mine was part of the original FDA trials for laser surgery and his office has basically all the available laser machines on the market and chooses which one to use based on your eyes, as each has its strengths and weaknesses. They also do the work-up exams twice, using different equipment, to make sure the results are the same and the equipment is measuring YOUR eyes correctly.

I had the surgery around 8:00AM on a Friday. My wife drove me home, and the numbing eyedrops wore off pretty quickly. I laid in bed, under the blankets to try to get away from any light or anything else, because my eyes were burning so bad... I had to wear goggles for teh first few days just to keep anything from bumping the eyes.

Eventually, I must have fallen asleep, because I woke up around 1:00PM the same day, and the pain was gone. I wandered downstairs to the kitchen, stood at the sink and looked out the window. I could see every blade of grass in the yard. WOW! This was like 5 hours after surgery, and I was seeing details I have never seen without glasses before. It was a memorable moment for sure.

Lasik surgery is by far the single most life improving thing I have ever done for myself

I join the terrified group for the eye surgery. I have been very lucky - according to my wife - that my eyes have been so good. Brieflly around the age of 55 I had to get some readers to see the small print on charts, but as I got older my eyes seemed to improve and I no longer use readers at all. However, my far vision is now starting to be blurry looking at traffic lights and such at distances of 300 meters or more I am starting to see double images.
Still terrified of anyone near my eyes!

I'm the same way, Sherrel. All I have to do is think about having something in my eye and my eyes start watering. I tried contacts several times over a 20-some year period, but could never get used to having something in my eyes. I'm highly sensitive to bright lights.

Having teh surgery was very, very anxiety filled! The valium did nothing. I was terrified the whole time, but it was over before I completely freaked out, lol.

Here's the poop for today:
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for all inland valleys of Southern California, as well as the mountains and deserts, through 8 PM Saturday as a high pressure ridge over Arizona and New Mexico expands westward.

High temperatures in the valleys have been nearing or exceeding 100 degrees in recent days, and is forecast to escalate even higher Thursday through Saturday.

DAVID - Looking at little miss Shelby there with her nose ring - I can see where someone might think she is a pig, or cow and be turned on by that - LOL
That's the problem with modern women; rings, tatoos all over and they think that's attractive. No cooking skills, no cleanliness around them. They just have to create drama. I used to work in McDonalds in highschool. Girls would flirt, guys would flirt, normal and everyone went about their business. Now young people get offended at the slighest inconvenience.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure...

Good evening. 71° and partly cloudy. 20% chance of rain overnight. Low of 68° expected.

So far this month, we have had 5 days when the daily high temperature was 90° or above. This information is maintained by Rutgers University, and considered the official record by day. It tends to be rather humid here in the summer.

LOUIS -- The Spousal Unit has a client whose Grandson was just drafted by the Birds - Cole Urman.

They wanted him a couple years back, but he wanted to finish college first.
I think he is a catcher!
He must be ecstatic! The Orioles have one of the finest minor league systems in all of baseball.
