New cars and vans await shipment by rail at a facility in Jessup, Maryland.

They would all be waiting to be unloaded. The only cars that were loaded at Jessup to be transported across the country would have been GM vehicles from the Bruening highway plant.
Thank you for the correction! That makes perfect sense. A perfect example, you can't belive everyhting you see on Facebook. Even if it does come from the B&O Railroad Museum.

I think that location is still in use. Toyotas and other imports from the port now?
They look like 1968 models. That was, IIRC, the first year of that body style of the Econoline van. It looked pretty much the same u til the body changed again for 1975, which has continued with only refreshes to this day.
And thank you for elaborating!

:D

I have had one of those 'no spending' mandates since 2013. It has worked sort of......
I don't think I've spent $500 on trains since I imposed my mandate. Before my mandate, my train buying obssesion was so bad I stopped counting what I spent.

I had to do something. The space I have reserved for my layout (my entire attic) is full of boxes of stuff I bought! Not to mention my two full size steel shelves full of HO and N scale stuff in my utility room. One of these days I'm going to make my layout my priority.

Hello all. Not sure how many airliner fans we have here, but i like large airplanes. Some of my favorites are Concorde which i was able to see coming in on approach lane toward JFK. Ofcourse the "Queen of the skyes"-Boeing 747 is right up there with the most beautifull aircraft ever designed. But on this date in 1989 a horrific crash happened in Siux City, Iowa with some of most amazing flying ever done in almost hopeless situation-United flight 232:

Since today is bad beverage day, I found this vid in my youtubez queue and thought I'd share. Kurt and Trenton from SLB Basement Bourbon Bar with their opinions on four of the worst bourbons...

Take out one five run inning and one four run inning and the Dodgers score only one, birds win 3-1!:p :D ;)

It's all in my twisted way of looking at it. Keeps me happy.

This season it is easy to see the bright side,1988 was another story! Despite that, I made the biggest bet of my life ($50) in spring of 1989. I bet the birds would not finish in the cellar, easy money!
My problem is I watch too many Mets games, and they are almost all fiascos. When you can clearly see your starter doesn't have it, but you're afraid to go to the pen to try and stem the route, you are conceding early on. I don't buy the crap that the "pen" is over used and not ready. Never heard that about Dave Ragetti or Mariano. What's the matter with these guys?

Import vehicles from the port is another possibility, but the Fords, in the photo, would be for off loading. Not sure loaded tri-levels would fit in the Howard st. Tunnel, I know they didn't fit in the B&P Tunnel, even with the gauntlet.

GM outbound autos from Bruening Hwy, and Chrysler Newark via PRR/PC/Conrail ran via the Port Road to Harrisburg. Southbounds and B&O/WM routed multis were set out at Lemoyne, (Lemo), and routed via the Cumberland Valley Branch to Hagerstown.
[Lemo, was disassembled and reassembled at Strasburg, PA, across the road from where the PRR Historical Collection continues to deteriorate]. 🤬 Lemo was at the junction where the Northern Central running out of Baltimore, and the Cumberland Valley running out of the Hagerstown area intersected. there was a small, partially wired, yard where road crews would make set outs enroute West.

Never really liked Jim B's, and never noticed the others. Of course, I was a single malt snob. Also developed a taste for Black Jack. Interesting videos though.

I try not to think of the innings these guys pitch in today's MLB.

You and I are from the era when 300+ innings starters were common. Now 200+ will lead the league.

Remember Mike Marshall? In 1974 he pitched in over 100 games, over 200 innings, all in relief! He also won the Cy Young award that year.

These days we almost never see a three inning save.

Today's pitchers throw every pitch like it is the seventh game of the World Series. Pitchers who throw over 100mph are not unusual. Not only that, almost every hitter is a power hitter. The ball is juiced, and the ball parks are smaller.

Fans pay to see homeruns and the scoreboard light up.

I like to see 1-0 shutouts. We don't see many complete game shutouts anymore. We don't see many complete games at all!

The game has changed.
