Good morning, in Joysey again and there seemed to be flooding issues here and there. Anyway for those who like cats:

This one lives in Northeast, Pennsylvania.

Good Morning All. Clear and 82° heading up to a much cooler 104° today after reaching 109° yesterday. We get a break from triple digits for the weekend with 102° returning Monday. Rain? What's that?

Another day today filled with medical stuff. Starts at 8:00 with the semi-annual dermatologist visit. I'm not sure why I still see him. He removed a cancerous spot 5 or 6 years ago and nothing has returned. Oh well! Medicare is paying so why not. Then I'll return paperwork to the ophthalmologist's office before heading to see my primary care doctor and review last weeks events.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I completed the re-paint of the home.

Troy - Happy Anniversary.
Karl - Thanks for the comment on the barn. It is one of very few scratchbuilt structures that I have done. I don't count those made with DPM or Pikestuff walls.
Tom O - My first visit to the ophthalmologist was a year and a half ago when he said that they weren't bad enough at the time. But the cloudiness has gotten worse in the right eye so I will do both so they match.
Sherrel - Great airport story as usual!
Mikey - Great suggestion as usual, but too late since I have already gone too far.

Gotta go now as doctor is 25 miles away.
Everybody have a great day

You drive BEFORE you get coffee? How is that possible?

It took me a full can of Diet Dr. Pepper before I remembered I have the V-60.

Yeah i know, but by some incredible miracle i'm able to stumble to the car in the morning and make it to gas station before i get in the truck;) by that time i've already taken few sips of "wakeup nectar".

My coffee maker is very similar to this one, but with square buttons. I normally prep the coffee the night before, fill the water tank, weigh out the grounds and fill the basket. Keeps sleepy headed me from making a mistake in weights and measures. Just stumble down to the kitchen, hit the button...

Perhaps filling the water reservoir overnight isn't such a great idea?

NO. No. No. Water left overnight tastes like sludge. imo.
On the day of making, run the water a couple of minutes then put in machine/ kettle.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with coffee makers.

It's Troy again...

The last few days I've .... well... let's just say the lower GI wasn't behaving well. Not bad, but not normal.

Took a sip of coffee this morning... it was off. Not badly, but not right.

Start investigating, and I noticed a pinkish hue on the water reservoir clearish level indicator. That gauge on the side of the water tank. I always fill it to the 10-cup level.

UGH! I just did the white vinegar decalcify cleaning two days ago! Really. I did.

Pink slime... Blech!

So that pot went down the drain. I got the spray bottle of vinegar out, and a paper towel (kitchen roll for those on the other side of the pond) and wiped it off. Sprayed more, swirled, and swished. Then I held the coffee maker over the sink and used the sprayer tap to hose it out.

Fresh vinegar going through a clean cycle now.

For emergency caffeinated beverages, I've gone with the Tom O method of Diet Dr Pepper. Mine's in a can, so I'll probably have another soon.

So, what's your method for cleaning the coffee maker?
I am not nor have I ever been a coffee drinker. Maybe 2 cups my whole adult life. However, mom/dad, the sister, brother and of course Terry are. Mom/dad had a coffee maker going all day and like their cigarettes I honestly cannot see an image in my mind of either of them without a coffee cup in their hands. Terry only drinks 2 cups in the morning, 2 in mid-afternoon and 1 after dinner. My sister and brother are like mom and dad, both always are drinking a cup.

As to cleaning, for Terry it’s the first day of the month. She pours the white vinegar into the machine and lets it circulate through the brewing cycle. Then she rinses it with fresh water 3 times through the brewing cycle. The coffee pot is rinsed daily and whenever the dishwasher is run, the pot is in there.

I don’t wash my diet Dr Pepper bottles!

Morning all,

73° with mostly clear skies, AQI of 33 and going for a high of 95° with a heat index of 102° later.
I believe I'll stay indoors, thank you very much.

Added 4 new hires starting next week. I can't complete them as quickly as I'd like due to the sync cycle with the new email system. Today also gives one of my techs a chance to learn how add users in the email system.

A few days ago, I had to sign up with the company that administers the 401k I was forcibly enrolled in, to be able to download and print the form I need to get them to stop deducting from my paycheck.
I'm sure it's just a coincidence the email I used to register with them, and them only for at least the last year and a half, has begun being bombarded with tons of foreign-language spam ever since.

Good morning coffee drinkers or not.

Dad rarely washed the percolator type coffee makers. My brother in law filled the coffee maker every night at 10pm and had it on a timer so it was ready at wake up. He and my sister liked their coffee strong, the aroma would wake me at 4:45 when we were there. 2 of my diet Dr Pepper and 3 other non caffeinated beverages of choice are always added to the main refrigerator before bed. I do have a train room refrigerator that has a couple of emergency six packs of DDP and at least 2 other choices.

Breakfast is at 9 here this morning. The golf the last 2 days should have been great but each day so far I have taken an 8 on a par 5. Shot 80 on each day. I have not made a penny yet playing the last couple days, that has to change today!

The last 2 nights I have had traces of rain in the beaker measuring device so really nothing to speak about. High the last 2 days reached 81. The weather app says 88 for this afternoon, it’s 57 right now. The air quality number this morning is 20 but they said on TV this morning before Terry left for the stables the smoke will return Thursday and Friday.

We are back at the course today that we played Monday. For those that play, no skins have been won so the carry over of 36 holes will be a heck of a payoff. Those who don’t play, a skin is when you win with low score on a hole, you win that hole and a carry over is the previous holes that had no winners. If anyone ties the low score no skin is rewarded.

Terry is leading a group of 6 ladies at 8 on the horse trails today. The daughter and granddaughter plus a few neighbor ladies are going with. Brunch will be out on the trail. There are 3 here that don’t ride. One asked if she could use an ATV, so they are going to ride different trails but join them for brunch. Yesterday they all hit the 2 Art Museums and 1 Gallery open in town and had a good brunch at one of our favorite places, the Short Stack Eatery. They have a tremendously awesome Pecan Streusel French Toast.

It’s been a good time

Good Morning All!

54F @ 60% and really clear - to be near 90 today.

Coffee makers: When we owned one of the local espresso stores, we found that cleaning was needed at least once a week, depended on how busy we were. Machine got a quick cleaning every night. Espresso machine was pretty easy, brush for goop, baking soda for all the internals. Water is filtered before going in, so not much lime buildup.

The Bunn is wipe the outside, deal with the pot. Crushed ice with a touch of salt mixed in, then swirled around for a bit to remove the crud. Rinse, repeat if necessary. Baking soda with water in the reservoir, push start. Every week or so, run the whole thing thru the dishwasher; let dry upside down over night. Ya, pot gets in the dishwasher once in awhile to do the outside, but the DW does not remove the brown stuff that is cooked in.

Oh, and we gave up on any/other types of coffee makers. Bunn now is almost 15 years old and still dripping. On top of that, 6 to 8 minutes and you have a pot of coffee; just enough time 2P and put clothes on!

What ever you do and if not a Bunn, do not put water in the reservoir and let it sit. You will build up lime. Put water in the pot with the lid open/off which will get rid of the chlorine over night. It is easier to clean the lime from pot vs reservoir ... right? I can even aim good at 1st wake up to get said water in the brewer, some of you may have to practice a bit to get this done ;). Note that the Bunn always has water in the reservoir - it is heated, don't know why but have not seen lime, and never tastes like chlorine, so you get coffee faster.

Already had my 1/2 pot this am, so switching to Gator Aid and/or water.

We do the same, well my wife does. We have been doing it for years, no problem.
So, what's your method for cleaning the coffee maker?
Same method as you are doing. White vinegar once every month or so. You may need to do it more often.
In all seriousness, our municipality puts so much chlorine in the water, mold and other funk don't stand a chance.
Might be the same here.

Terry makes a good point; your water may be the difference.

South, yeah, for sure. 10 - 3. They all looked bad last night.
Take out one five run inning and one four run inning and the Dodgers score only one, birds win 3-1!:p :D ;)

It's all in my twisted way of looking at it. Keeps me happy.

This season it is easy to see the bright side,1988 was another story! Despite that, I made the biggest bet of my life ($50) in spring of 1989. I bet the birds would not finish in the cellar, easy money!
