Good Afternoon All. Clear and 105°, with a THI of 104°. Wait, how's that possible??? Maybe it's the 18 mph wind??? Supposed to reach 107° soon enough. Just two more days of this and then back into the upper 90's.

I have my first cataract surgery scheduled for 8-2, and the second one for 8-16. While it's mainly the right eye that I have partially blurred vision in, it's present slightly in the left one so both get the makeover. Why not?

I'm about to head out to the train shed, and tackle a new project alongside the remaining structure cleaning on the quarterly layout project. I received this house from Chet and it suffers from what many building kits from 30+ years ago suffer from. The original white plastic has faded to yellow where it is exposed to light. In this case I removed the porch and it can be seen.

I have several structures with this discoloration, some of which I have painted, some are on the waiting list.
Late yesterday, I started on one side but didn't get too far.

That porch to the right will be removed so I can have an easier time there. Since I am headed out there early today, I expect to finish it today and maybe also repaint the concrete gray foundation. I'll be more careful around the window frames by using a different brush.

OK, off I go. Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Sometimes I think the people running railways do not want to. Oh yes! Give them a fat paycheck, but do not care. Gone are the names of most of the famous trains. One that does is 'The Flying Scotsman' train (not the locomotive, but the train). The named train runs only one way, Edinburgh to London?

Gone most of the small handle freight. Only bulk freight seems to be their way.
Passengers? I get the feeling the Management want to drive people off the trains. Rather than encourage preople to travel, they want to increase prices causing an exodus to other travel.

There are more instances of driving custom away.

One that amazes me is the closure of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in North Wales? The line is still there. Trains pass the station, but do not stop? Possibly too many people want to go there. They cannot have that.

Now the station has been sold and the owner has more visitors to his business next door.

Good day everyone.

Well, it is 108 degrees in west Texas, 107 forecast for tomorrow and 105 degrees for Thursday. A cool front comes through on Friday with only 96 degrees in the forecast.

My last drafting project will be finished this Friday so I can finally get around to uncrating my milling machine, getting it set up and dialed in.

Looking forward to getting back on the layout bench work.

Have a great day....John

Good evening. 77° and cloudy. Another 0.10" of rain fell this afternoon. Wife and I were caught in the downpour, while wheeling a cart of groceries from BJ's warehouse to our car. Rain was warm, and I didn't melt.

MB Klein is having an Anniversary Sale. Some good deals if you're looking for something. I just picked up a Bowser AS 6-1-6 with DCC/Sound at a good price for a new arrival. Should be here by Saturday.

Listening to the Orioles - Bums game from Camden. Bums 3 - 0, Jason Hayward 3 run HR., in the 2nd. Next two get on, and now Mookie Betts pops up for the first out. Think the O's are trying to lose the game? Freeman drives in the 4 the 4th run...Tyler Wells sucks tonight, and still no one up in the Bullpen...Who do they think they are, the Mets?

That's all for now, have to put the recycles out for tomorrow's pick-up.

Later

Well howdy there internet people, including those that fade in the sunlight like a plastic house.

Took the wife out to the Irish pub for dinner. She wasn't sure, but ordered the Pork Belly BBQ Bacon Mac-n-Cheese. I went with the fish n chips

My fish above. The brown sauce is a garlic-aioli sauce. It was good, but I used equal parts of it with tartar sauce on the cod.

Wife liked it as a change of pace, but said she'd try either the fish or the shepherd's pie (with lamb) next time.

Comfortable place. If we were real pub-goers for social hour, it looks like a really friendly place to have a pint or two. If I weren't driving, they've got some decent Irish whisky and Scotch selections I could have tried. But, I was driving, so I don't drink when I'm out.

That's enough for tonight. Time to go prime the coffee maker for tomorrow.

We kinda got you beat this afternoon with 109°, up here near Era TX. So hot here today that the piss evaporated before hitting the ground. Pool however has maintained 88° through the afternoon, and will drop a couple of degrees overnight. Cooler weather coming, 107° for tomorrow and 104° for Thursday.

Two innings with crooked numbers and the whole thing goes south.

Good morning all. A cloudy day with some sunshine.

A simple scene on the Aln Valley Railway.

The scenery is as important as locomotive.

Three bar fencing. Grass partly cut back. Grounded boxvan possibly used for stores. Newly laid track unballasted. Ash and sandy gravel used as ballast.

Take the scenery away the locomotive is lost.

The entrance to Aln Valley Railway has an old locomotive. The engine is clapped out and not worth repairing hence its position at the entrance.
Note the reclaimed old tires, painted white and now have plats growing. The stones and gravel deliberately placed. The different types of fencing.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with coffee makers.

It's Troy again...

The last few days I've .... well... let's just say the lower GI wasn't behaving well. Not bad, but not normal.

Took a sip of coffee this morning... it was off. Not badly, but not right.

Start investigating, and I noticed a pinkish hue on the water reservoir clearish level indicator. That gauge on the side of the water tank. I always fill it to the 10-cup level.

UGH! I just did the white vinegar decalcify cleaning two days ago! Really. I did.

My coffee maker is very similar to this one, but with square buttons. I normally prep the coffee the night before, fill the water tank, weigh out the grounds and fill the basket. Keeps sleepy headed me from making a mistake in weights and measures. Just stumble down to the kitchen, hit the button...

Perhaps filling the water reservoir overnight isn't such a great idea?

Pink slime... Blech!

So that pot went down the drain. I got the spray bottle of vinegar out, and a paper towel (kitchen roll for those on the other side of the pond) and wiped it off. Sprayed more, swirled, and swished. Then I held the coffee maker over the sink and used the sprayer tap to hose it out.

Fresh vinegar going through a clean cycle now.

For emergency caffeinated beverages, I've gone with the Tom O method of Diet Dr Pepper. Mine's in a can, so I'll probably have another soon.

So, what's your method for cleaning the coffee maker?

I don't drink coffee, so it's an easy answer for me to make. Nothing. My wife runs various parts of hers through the dishwasher whenever there's room, whether they need it or not. However there are also parts that she hand washes as well. I never asked why the difference. Our dishwasher runs about every three days on average.

I'm one of those who preffer the KISS principle:

At home it's the instant gratification thing. Knowing myself i would most likely make a coffee maker fly across the kitchen.
