Good Morning All. Clear and 76° this morning, going up to maybe 96° later on. Next triple digit day might be Saturday according to the 10 day forecast. Rain which used to be in the forecast has been removed for the foreseeable future, which is normal for here in July.

Today is clean the house day in preparation for my wife's return tomorrow. Mostly I have kept up, but the dog hair from the two granddogs spoils everything. Laundry and dishes are caught up, the bed linens were washed yesterday right on schedule. I'll miss something for sure. The lack of rain has helped since I am not mowing right now. I don't know yet whether I am going to return the granddogs and retrieve my wife, or whether one of the daughters is going to make the trip and do the exchange here.

Another Sunday with very little time out in the train shed, as usual. I only ran trains since my time ended up being limited, but I enjoyed it.
From the archives, my one and only Campbell kit. It's a pallet manufacturer.

Tom - Your garden is certainly not as overgrown as mine. Looks good. Is that someone's vineyard in the background?
Patrick - Now that looks more like my garden, all kinds of different veggies intermingled with one another. That is just before last Friday when I removed all plants except Tomatoes and Peppers. I have found that bush beans aren't always bushes and I've had Squash vines reach over 8' in length. Sweet Potatoes vines that I haven't grown in a few years can reach 20'.
Guy - Those railcars are definitely Autoracks, although they might be carrying SUV's or pickup trucks as well. The doors are visible on the ends. They open the doors and back the railcars up to an adjustable loading/unloading ramp and drive them on or off. Ramps can be placed between multiple cars and a whole string of them can be loaded/unloaded at one spotting.
Years ago, there was a Honda unloading facility on ATSF next to Alliance Airport in Ft Worth, that I used to railfan. That was before Honda's were made in Ohio and Alabama, and they were unloaded off ships in Washington or Vancouver and came this way via BN at the time before being handed off to ATSF. It was closed after domestic production began.
While to many Americans, holidays are just another day off work, there are many more who know the reason behind them and do appropriate honoring; Memorial Day and July 4th are good examples. the true meaning behind several others has been lost over the years, like Labor Day and President's Day.
Sherrel - Sorry to read about your BIL. Best wishes for him.
Tom O - I still remember the Friday in 1975 that I got my first paycheck for over $100. Wife and I went out to eat.

Y'all have a great day.

Good Morning All! 49F @60% and severe clear again.

Happy Independence Day All!

Geesh full moon too, I suspect that the Police will be busy later this afternoon and tonight! Major party with fireworks over in Troy. Have always heard that it was a good show, but have never been. Too many people, too much noise. We are just staying home and keeping the animals settled down as some of our close neighbors do fire stuff off.

In fact, I may do absolutely nothing today, except breath and BBQ chicken.

Y'all enjoy!

Later

Good morning modelers, believers, non-believers and the garden workers. You all makes this place so enjoyable! Got up very late for me this morning at 8:15. Missed my morning walk as it is definitely too warm already and we have extreme sunshine. So wonderfully different than the last 2 weeks of checking the air quality numbers. But, the machine that goes nowhere will get another workout today.

I slept decently last night, had my 20 minute nap Sunday afternoon, so I have no idea why I was sleeping so long. Normal bedtime, around midnight. I am going to chalk it up as the body knows best what it needs.

Weathering this morning is the plan. 3 locomotives were clear coated yesterday and I will continue the weathering process on them till completed. Follow along if you’d like in the Weathering Engines a Continuous thread. I have a bunch of sulfur tank cars (15) and ethanol tankers (12)to do. The sulfur cars are Walthers Proto line and the ethanol tankers are ST. I am almost as impressed with the Proto series of cars as I am the ST tank cars. Very nice details but no where near as fragile as the tank cars I have to work on this month from Athearn Genesis. All wheels and side frames are off the cars and the wheels should be finished tonight and the side frames maybe tomorrow. If you’d like to follow along or hopefully offer some constructive criticism or encouragement see the Weathering Rolling stock, a Continuous thread over in the weathering forum. I should start posting sometime this evening.

Sitting on the front porch I have a visitor who seems to enjoy nibbling on the Hostas. He definitely could care less that I am no more the 8’ from him

Good morning!

It's very rare that I sleep-in past 6:00am, but for some unexplained reason, I never went to bed until 1:00am last night. Now, it's catch-up.

So, I'm just going to drop down a Blue River train photo, and be on my way.

Willie - Thankyou for describing those railcars as auto-racks. I didn't think that, actually. There are just so many of them, and if they are transporting vehicles across the nation, that area seems like taking the long route. I would think CP Rail through Calgary would make more sense if one were transporting automobiles.

Darn, the wife is already on my back with the list. And I just woke up.
Gotts make tracks. Have a great day.

Late this morning - stayed up too late watching a "chick film"!
We are at 60f degrees and looking for 93f later with sunny and breezy - the high yesterday was 95f (if you care).

Ronald R. said it best: Government IS the problem! If you look back, almost everything that is done needs "fixing" later on. Too many different programs and too many giveaways. I am still paying on a daughter's college loan and I have hope that I may actually get it paid off before I keel over. It is a loan that would not fall under JB's free giveaway plus the son-in-law's (pharmacy) would not qualify - neither would the Marine SIL who also has a loan.

I am not against helping those individuals who "really" need it: however, when I look at my current income, I am just slightly above what is considered poverty: I can only say that I was fortunate enough to save along the way.

I've probably said more than I should have - sory!
How about a RR pic?

Good afternoon gang!

Been a busy busy day at work so far. Yes work, that thing you do when you are not napping, gardening, walking in the woods, taking pictures trackside or cooking. (me jealous, what ever would be giving you that idea??)

Holidays always bring out the idiots in us. Got screamed at this morning by someone because the check engine light was on in the car. We were booked up and could not get it in. The customer was livid! "We wanted to go away for the holiday!!" When I asked how long it was on the answer was " a few weeks". When I asked what kind of car it was the reply was " A Ford Explorer". I then asked if they knew that they were calling a Chevrolet dealership.
"Click" was the response.

Been like this all day. Is there a full moon??

My best friend just happens to be an auto mechanic, i hear stories like that all the time. The fact that many behaviors like that come from so called men is disturbing. I can understand a woman spazzing out like that. One time some Amish "dude" started yelling at him in the shop, his response-"I suggest you quit yelling at me, or i will take care of that problem". Well that stopped right away as my friend is kind of stocky build and mean looking:D

.

Speaking of drinks, Safeway and Walmart are now carrying Mountain Dew Zero sugar Baja Blast. Previously it was only available at Taco Bell, but it was so popular that it now is in stores. It’s like regular mountain dew, with a hint of watermelon. I did get a 12 pack the other day at the Safeway across from my work. Yummy!!

uhmmm. Baja Blast doesn’t have watermelon flavor. It’s lime. It’s a Lime Dew. It’s been available in supermarkets for years now but only during the summer (in the past — I’ve noticed it more year round now). In the past you’d wait for Baja Blast to show up in the early summer and it would be available for a month or so. You’d stock up before it disappeared again. Recently I’ve seen in more available in the stores. Don’t know if it’s gone year round or just a longer “season”. I bought several 12 packs of No Sugar Baja Blast last summer and still have some left as I am not a big soda drinker at home. The summer before last I stocked up on a few 12 packs and had one can left by the time it hit the stores last year.

there is a watermelon flavored Dew called “Major Melon” and is available in both No Sugar and normal varieties. It’s not bad.

Well Crap!

My earlier post - thought that today was the 4th. I guess I added a day to everyone's life - call it group therapy? Just read it again tomorra please! Was getting the chicken ready for BBQ and Maria asked me 'What are you doing, I thought we were having chicken on the 4th'. What? Said I. I was informed that today was Monday the 3rd. Checked both phones ... crap it IS the 3rd. Now I gotta go work for at least 3 hours.... Now all our ages are back to normal.

Later again.

Once again, I had a double cheeseburger for dinner! This time my wife made it, and it was much better than mine.

My list for Aldi continues to grow.

I found another Aldi product I love, Hamburger Dill Pickle Chips. I like them sliced thin and most of these are very thin. The few that are not I eat separately. I love dill pickles and Aldi's are great! Next, I got to try the dill pickle spears; I eat them like candy.

FINALLY - Our Hummingbirds are buzzing around. Had me concerned as just have not seen any this year - then yesterday a couple zoomed up to the feeders - and then today they are in full force.
We usually have 4-6 around at any given time of day.
Someone said that they are late due to the colder weather for us this spring!
