Good Morning All. Clear and 72°. No real change in the forecast except they've added a slight chance of rain around 8/6-8/7. Trees locally are beginning to lose leaves from the dry conditions, although I have seen bigger cracks in the ground before.
Surprisingly I am still picking a few tomatoes, 11 of them yesterday. There's a few more out there, but the desperate grasshoppers may get them first. There's actually not a lot of hoppers this year, most of them drowned as youngsters in the spring rains this year. They don't mind the heat or drought, but will go after the tomatoes as an easy source of water. There's a fine line between when the tomato skins are still too tough for their jaws to pierce and when they can get through.
I had the last two ultrasound exams yesterday, arterial and venous in the groin and calves. They should now know the blood flow everywhere below the heart including the toes and abdomen that they did Wednesday.
That trip to the doctors office made back and forth on 40 miles of I-35 really shows how little attention many drivers pay while driving. Examples include: If 18-wheeler's are passing you in the right lane, perhaps you don't belong in the left lane! Or know where your exit is so you don't have to unexpectedly swerve over 4 lanes in a 40 yard dash to get off! This particular section of Interstate has exits every 3/4-1 mile apart; go to the next one and turn around. I won't even get into activity in parking lots. Check your damn phones before putting the car in gear!
Otherwise an uneventful day.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I mostly admired my handiwork of the last week installing trees. Some were the large ones that I got from
Chet, many others were smaller ones that I had been making and stashing for whenever I got into the mood to plant.
Here's a few examples where I planted and/or added some.
And another on the workbench that's having broken branches fixed or added back on.
To put this into perspective, that's an 8.5" x 11" piece of cardboard underneath it. The tree is 13.4" tall, a scale 100' or so tall. This is one of his Sagebrush trees. No need to paint the trunk.
Troy - Prayers and best wishes for your SIL's roomie regarding their health.
Guy - Quite the opposite with me. I can tolerate this heat much better than I can tolerate months of snow and sub-zero temperatures. Although outdoor activity needs to be reduced in the afternoons, it normally doesn't hit 90°F until noonish or so.
Everybody have a great Saturday and an awesome weekend.
