Tom- Beautiful car and load. Did you make the load?
Yes, the pipe is from Grain Belt Models ho galvanized pipe. I then painted it orange. The pipe looks more like hdap (plastic) then steel. This is the pipe I referenced.

Did you know that Phil, who played for the Yankees, and Pee Wee Reese, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers actually played together. Seems that during WW-II they both were on a team making the rounds to help the morale of our Armed Forces.

My personal favorite was Duke Snider.
I did not know that, thank you! How is that for a middle infield?! That would give the pitcher a lot of confidence having them behind him.

The Duke of Flat Bush. One of the all-time greats.

My first MLB games was supposed to be the Dodgers vs. the Phillies at Shibe Park. (Nice old ballpark in a not so nice old neighborhood). My Dad, my Godfather, and a few of their friends were going, and the plan was for me and my "friend" Frank, to go. Frank preferred to go to the Movies with the mothers and little kids, so mom made me endure Pinoccio :( I rated that movie 👎. Had to wait until the next season to see my first game, vs, the NY Giants and Willie Mays. (He made it look easy). Compared to the Dodgers and Yankees it was my opinion the Giants got little respect.

1952 my dad went to work for Pan American Airline. He brought home a crystal radio that looked like one of their planes. It had a ear piece, a ground wire, which I clipped to the screw that held the light switch cover on, and a slide that came from the nose of the plane.to tune in stations. The only things I ever able to tune in was baseball games and the opera. Listened to many games on that little radio.

Well Mr. Peabody, since we got the Wayback Machine going, what was the first movie you saw. My first movie was "Song of the South", mom and dad took me. Movie is now banned and will never be shown again. The first movie I ever went to by myself, "Them" I had nightmares for 2 weeks

The first movie I willingly watched was Dr. Strangelove. It was pretty tough to follow for a kid, but I managed to get through it. I had almost no idea what it was supposed to be about, and had to rewatch it again several years later before enough “stuff” clicked together I was able to figure it out.

1st MLB game. Not sure of the year but the game was White Sox and Baltimore. Nellie Fox played 2nd base for Chicago and for some reason became my favorite player. I could not believe it when he was moved to the Astros or worst when Luis Aparicio was traded to Baltimore for Ron Hansen. I used to go to sleep listening to White Sox games on the transistor radio under the pillow so the younger brother wouldnt hear it. The Soxcwere a pretty good team in my youth. Up the middle some of the best players defensively in the AL, 1958 to 65.

1st movie I remember at the theater. Disney‘s Sleeping Beauty in 1959. I remember the year as it’s the year my maternal grandfather passed and they sent us to the movies the day of the wake

I really remember a couple other firsts but I think that’s worst here then talking politics…he-he

Evening, done working for today...actually i was done two hours ago when i ran out of mortar. This was the "ceiling" in the whole basement when i got the house:

Except there was almost no insulation either. This is as of today:

Still have to do woodwork on that beam, but that's maybe after vacation. This part where the washer and drier are, doubles also as a garage, behind me are roll up doors:

And last part in the main basement where i was doing the wall:

Only foot and a half to cover cinder blocks left, but just didn't feel like it after a trip to Lowes for stucco. New work table which i built last year is waiting to be used again:

I was just invited to fill in for my brother’s normal golfing partner. In a couple weeks the next group outing is at Cabot Cove golf in Nova Scotia. This will be his group’s third time playing there. Since I have no known commitments, I said yep. Here’s the website, it looks awesome, he said it is

I haven’t played in 9 days or even hit balls. I guess I will get back to hitting into the simulator. It’s going to be too hot over the next week here to go out on a course.

Anyone hear of this place or played there?

Well no...but if your idea of playing golf has something like this in mind, i might join you:

Evening all,

Took the grandkids to Coffeyville, KS to see the Dalton Defender's Museum. While we did see the killing alley and the graves of the Dalton's, the museum never opened, so we headed to the Laura Ingalls Wilder "Little House on the Prairie" homestead. Learned some things about why they built in Indian territory and why they had to move. Granddaughter wants to read the books.

Then went to a small free zoo in Independence, KS and then returned home. Kids said they had a good time.

Otherwise we had a good day. I need to get the backyard mowed tomorrow after I get the battery recharged. Hopefully it isn't completely dead.

Hopefully you won't have any problems with smoke.

I'm awake... which is not the preferred condition.

I was yawning something fierce at supper tonight. Caffeine from the sodas perked me up, so I had a glass of whiskey, and promptly fell asleep in my recliner about 7:30.

Woke at 8:30 pm and been wide awake ever since. Tried going to bed at 9:30. tossed until 11p and got up.

Soon as I hit the recliner again, the yawning started.

Another 15 minutes and I'll try bed again.

I thought Cabot Cove was the Murder capital of Maine. Didn't Angela Lansbury solve a murder there every week?

Alright folks - ROY ROGERS in 'Grand Canyon Trail' in 1949 .. a small movie theater where we did not get the first run of anything - 14 cents for the movie and 10 cents for the popcorn and coke!

Patrick - I remember 'THEM' - I was afraid to walk home the whole 2 blocks!

Didn't see a major league game until 1964 in K.C. DAD bought a TV 54-55? where we could watch the Series, but being 70 miles from the tower we could barely make out the ball from the snow in the picture.

One of my favorites , asnd still is, is 'Forbidden Planet'!
What a shame that so much history is being raped and banned from kids nowdays!
