Good morning!

My day is off to a good start. Dropped a Yote in my back yard. First time I've ever been able to retrieve a rifle AND get off a safe shot in 5 years. It was eating something that looks like the remains of some critter's neck. Put a .308 right behind its ear at 140 yards. 90% luck and a little skill, but with a rifle that's a lot more accurate than I am.

I'm thinking about impaling it on a pole in our yard to send a message to the rest of the pack, LOL!

Hope nobody's offended. As far as I'm concerned the only good Yote is a dead Yote. Here in Ohio, there is no closed season for Coyote.... Open season 24/7/365. The only restriction, is that during "Deer Gun Season" you can only use firearms that are also legal to hunt deer.

I thought about selling it... You can get $75 bounty per yote, but I'd rather keep the tail, and may boil the skull... Not sure yet. For the rest of today, though (while I'm at work), the Buzzards can have at it.

The S22 Ultra also has a stylus. Although I'm not really sure what I will use it for.
If it is like the stylus in my Note 20, you can use it as a remote for taking photos. Set the phone up to take a group pic and you can get in the photo. Also, there is an app, Microsoft Whiteboard, with the stylus you jot down a note, sketch out an idea, draw directions etc.

Good Morning!

The forest fires are burning. There's a dangerous fire in the Nordegg area, about 1hr south of where we were fishing. The town of Nordegg is currently on a 2hr evacuation alert. - I hope they put it out before it burns out my fishing hole.

I was up and out at 5am to try and get a better photo of the Humming birds. One came around a few times, but, wouldn't get near the spot I was pre-focused on. I'm trying to get a shot of it showing it's back.
Last evening, I did get a good enough photo that made it possible to identify the bird as a female Ruby-Throated. This is one of five photos I was able to secure:

I'll spend some time today trying to get better photos. There's also a Calliope coming around, but, I'm not lucky with that one yet. It's hard to take good photos of Hummingbirds, but, the attempt is quickly becoming a 2nd hobby.

I also intend to get some modelling time in today. The layout isn't moving along very quick. But, the wife is at work for the next 3 days, so perhaps I can get something done. One of the problems is that, every time she walks out the door, she blaps off a list of things to do.

Here's some photos of a centre-beam flat that was all alone and empty. I like the blue ones better. those arn't as new and unscathed:

Not going to spend a-lot of time on the PC today, but, I do hope you all have a great day.
Have a good one!
Guy - I always look forward to your pics, we have many of those hummingbirds, they sometimes are fighting at our feeder , several at a time.

I hope the wind blows that fire away from your spot!

I fought wildfires many years, 1978 through 1984. The wind and humidity do more to extinguish them than all the manpower in the world!

Troy - I have never seen a tub alteration like that! When I worked at a retirement community we made them put in a tile shower arrangement, if recommended by the physician, removing the old tub altogether. We did it as part of an ongoing upgrade program so no cost to seniors.

Mom is in a subsidized section of the complex. So they're not too big on spending their money to improve stuff.

My great grandmother (mom's grandmother) was in the same complex, different building (in the assisted living section) which shows how long this place has been around.

We're just happy she's still getting around on her own. My other grandmother got to the point where she'd put a roast in the oven then call because she couldn't figure out what the shrill beeping was the next day.

"Grandma, go look in your oven..."

"Oh, I was going to eat that for dinner last night... It's all black now..."

"Turn off your oven. Did you do that? Ok, now open your windows, grandma."

Or answering her door buck naked at 82, because she forgot to do laundry again...

Mom's not there yet. So if this helps her get to her shower chair, we're ahead of the game.

Not offended. No bounty in Texas but traditionally farmers and ranchers hung the carcass on a fence post. One late rancher hung them along the road south of here. I don't know if it scared off any others, but it was a sight to see the vultures gathered around eating them like a Popsicle. They do keep the rabbits in check around here.

Morning gang!

Willie- Nice pics from your layout!

Guy- I love seeing your prototype pictures of the rolling stock from your neck of the woods! That WC lumber center beam is nice!

Dave- I used to have a bunch of old brass Varney tenders and locos and a few cars but I sold them all to a guy in California. He was a real brass enthusiast. He restored all types of brass to its former glory and well never paints them that I knew of. He kept them all in brass scheme and they were just polished up all shiny! He has an incredible collection.

TomO- Quite an adventure you are having! Those cars you got from Walthers are actually really nice! I have 6 of them and love them! Not bad for the money and details at all. I did post some of mine on the RPO thread a while back.

Louis- Your welcome? I do not claim to be an expert in tech but I kinda know enough to do some simple tasks and then get into trouble lol then call for help lol. I do love my camera phone it does an awesome job. As for the stylus pen....you would be surprised how often I use mine. I have fat fingers and thumbs so having that is great! I also like chicken scratching my notes on the note pad for measuring projects etc and taking "reminder notes".

Happy Friday everyone! My sisters friend came in last night from Wisconsin and 2 other people that are friends came in from the UK as well. We have got a full house at the lake house this weekend! I will be up there this late afternoon and then out on the boat tomorrow morning to try to get some fishing in before the company ask for boat rides etc. Our family has 4 boats my fishing boat included. We will probably go out on our Sea Ray SLX 400 for they late afternoon evening cruise. Everyone likes that. My wallet doesn't lol. Twin MerCruiser 8.2L MAG HO Bravo Three X SeaCore with Axius Propulsion (T-430 hp / 321 kW) kinda gobbles gas on a 70 mile round trip but it is enjoyable. Then late at night an evening cruise in our 1989 Elco 30 launch it's an electric, picnic style boat -classified as a harbor cruiser. We usually go in the evening after sunset due to less boat traffic and more enjoyable breeze coming down off the mountains. My dad has a McGreggor M21 sailboat, his pride and joy as he got it when he retired. Most of our company do not like the slow leisure of sailboats. They want a cruise in power boats etc.

Anyways weather wise it's looking hot. 89 late thunderstorms today, 91 tomorrow, 92 Sunday and Monday 84...... My sister and friends will be going to the clubhouse at the track today. The Saratoga Springs Horse Track betting on horses......not me I like my money in my pocket lol. Hopefully they win some $$. I have never been much in for gambling at all but it is nice to go once in a blue moon for fun. It is just not me though. Fun entertainment for the guest though.

Well that's it for now. I did get some more 2 bay covered hoppers in yesterday and have a few more coming today and tomorrow. My Aggregate and cement company on the layout will have enough hoppers after this round of bids from evil bay.

Ya'll have a goodun! ;)
James - the Varney's have are some type of metal alloy, very heavy but neither brass or aluminum.

One is in nearly new condition, the one I painted and decalled. The other is very similar but a couple details are more primitive, and it has clearly seen a lot of track time.

Wish me luck on getting it to smooth out!

Truth, Justice and the American way! Where is Superman?

I think we all have a voice inside of us telling us the right thing to do. Some have learned to ignore it. Or drown it out with greed or drugs/alcohol.

Its not about all the politically correct rhetoric. We just need to treat each other as we want to be treated.

Afternoon All,

Started off the day walking but I think I overstreched a ligament in my left ankle. I was back home limping within 20 minutes. Don't know how I did it. Drove the wife to a farmers market then we walked thru ALDI (I was trying to work the ankle area). After getting home I did a couple of small inside chores then weathered the supervisors office placed it on the layout and hooked up it's lights electrically. I'll take night time photos tonight.

TomO- Nice layout shot. Those orange cars really stand out.

Troy- I would of expected less width to the step over portion.

Willie- Great photos. I really enjoy long track photos.

Guy- Nice 1:1 photos

James- Enjoy the family time together.

I still need to add more people (in mail)

I need some advice from the tech Gurus.

As many know I bought a new phone.

What are they important points I need to know about wireless chargers.

All I know is to get one that is compatible.

Is it even a good idea to charge wirelessly?

Won't claim to be a guru

Wireless charging is less efficient than wired charging. The Samsung supports up to 15W charging. The S22 supports up to 45W charging wired. So wireless will take longer.

Most wireless chargers require you to get the power supply separately (the wall wart that has the USB cable coming off it that normally you would plug into the phone and now you are plugging into the charger instead). Make sure you get one that supports 15W of actual output or else you will charge even slower.

Anything that claims to be Samsung cmpatible or Qi compatible should work as a wireless charger AFAIK. Qi is an industry standard that most phones that do wireless adhere to.

As said, it is less efficient. Takes more input energy to get to a certain charge level. I use plugged in charger by my bed at night, but have an ANKER wireless 60 degree (more or less) vertical cradle to prop my iPhone up with at the work desk, which supports wireless charging and which I sometimes use while at my work desk if the phone gets down lower than 50% and the day is still young... (My phone is almost 4 years old and the battery has degraded some). It is more a matter of convenience than anything in my book.

A burning question here - this came up while grocery shopping yesterday. Why are products like Beyond Meat and Impossible Meat sold in the meat/fish department??? I asked the meat manager and she didn't know or like it either.
I think they are trying to fool people into thinking it is real meat.

We had some kind of veggie bean burger patties last night that actually tasted pretty good, however they did not masquerade as meat. They were a little spicy hot, which I like.

Louis I have 3 of them. One at work and one at home and one in the truck. The one in the truck was factory installed as it came with the model truck I have. The one at home is made by Samsung as the one at work. The one at work has burned out and well I just use the cord. I still use the one at home but turn the phone off when it is charging which seems to be the best results. I turn my phone off every nite anyways when I go to sleep. I have been doing that for years. It guarantees my 5 1/2 hour sleep that I need Monday thru Friday. Sometimes Saturdays I sleep in until I hit 7 hours of sleep or even on Sunday depends if I am tired or not.

The wireless phone chargers are not the safest things in the world as I am told. I am told that you should get the company phone names such as Samsung phone vs Samsung charger. Some of the after market ones actually causes high heat and burns out quickly and may as well as caused fires. Be aware of that.

I asked the meat manager at our HYVee a few months ago. She thinks it’s for When real meat is priced out of the market and they want customers to start thinking about it now. It’s the slow boat of education, if you hear about it enough or see it enough, it becomes true! Or in this case real enough you can’t tell the difference

The Gurus (at least to me and I admire modesty) have enlightened me, thank you very much!

James I am one to over pay to match manufacturers. Especially in high tech electronics that I know little about.

I ordered a Samsung 15watt wireless charger from Amazon.

Side note, as much as I order from Amazon I have yet in my nearly 6 years with them to deliver to myself.

Meaning if you go in the water you wear it? That isn't swimming... But her boat, her rules...
2 to 3 miles out from shore and she said she can throw a life jacket but she is not coming in. Says since before they got married that was the hubby’s rule and she kept it. When we were a couple miles out by Port Washington it was showing 226’ depth.

It’s not swimming and I can swim but…
