There was a tragedy in the train room yesterday that I did not post about earlier

While I do not have a computer or TV in the train room the stereo was always on in the background. My 40+ year old stereo system may have passed on. The former sound engineer and still the son is now looking at it. Since I am back at the paint bench I need tunes.

Remembering I had another system to play the tunes that worked with the IPod or the IPod mini, I pulled this out. Music again filled the paint bench area yesterday and again today. I do prefer tthe bigger sound from a good speaker system but this will do.

Great, he is asking for my took kit and soldering iron, he will be performing surgery.
If he gives it mouth to mouth can you video :D

Interesting to read that they are helping. While I don't have any foot issues, Crocs are just not made for the farm type outdoor stuff that I do. New Balance walking shoes are. I do use the rubber ball technology occasionally.
I tried crocs, find them very slippy and too dangerous to work in, wellies if wet with big chunky tyre type foot prints, and army type walking shoes Solomon in not too hot weather, worth messing with laces, two socks if colder, summer wellies no socks, or slip ones, I like flip flops in house but not outside, need foot protection as I can walk in nettles far too easily, same reason I rarely get tanned legs, trying to avoid wearing calamine lotion lol.
I like the drop strings in the polytunnel as when I am in danger of losing my footing I can grab them to steady me,since I damaged ankle and knee this is even more important..
Crocs are great for hot weather, and may be safer near a pond environment, if you are are wary, but the other half ends up with cracked heels if he wears them, Solomon leisure wear do not cause that problem, Solomon are not cheap but worth it, I like their orthopaedic boots as they are really comfortable and you can walk about all day and not feel tired in them.

Since I'm dealing with Plantar Fasciitis, that's the purpose. Extreme cushioning for around the home, and on the concrete of the patio. No ponds to follow in, no nettles to dodge. Just the cat, and dry floors. Some with carpeting.

Crocs should be fine for most things I need. I'll wear proper trainers when I go out in public. ;)

Well good morning from the No-kill fields of So. Central Wisconsin.

So students of modeling things! When a rat dies in a trap set by man, or figures out it can’t swim after being in a 5 gallon water filled pail, has MAN killed the rodents or have the rodents committed suicide? This will be on my mind off and on today!

A great day to fly per the son. 69 now heading to 80 and not a cloud in the sky. The route is Middleton, Wisconsin west following the WSOR rail lines to Prairie du Sac, Wi. Then north along the east bank of the Mississippi River to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, following the BNSF tracks. A u turn then following the West bank of the river south to Davenport, Iowa. Tracks on both sides of the river or close to the river. We then decide if we will have pizza a 1/2 mile from a airport about a mile west of the river and a bit north of St.Louis. He has stopped there before and it’s an easy Uber ride to what he says is great pizza.

Heading out to fly by 10, it’s 8:58 now. Enjoy the day

EDIT, Great background pictures Guy, well done
Rat swims until too tired to stay above the water, same as humans, so there is no committing sci die they just exhaust themselves, I drop mine in cages into water, they rise to the top after the last second for air, biting the cage, trying to escape, do I feel bad, yes but they are a serious pest killing baby chicks, and will attack bigger birds if in numbers, when the harvest on the farms starts and drives them off the fields, they are a real serious problem, so yeah I feel bad, but it is a necessary evil, I do not go take critters the distance to stop them being my problem, because then I am just putting that problem on someone else, a rat bite and lymes disease is no joke.
If god is a big rat like creature I will be in serious trouble. When I ad no animals outside, I was not bothered and had no cage traps, but I have to take vaby ducks off their mums and shove them in cages in order to protect them, and the law in Wales has stopped us killing magpies, and here magpies are a serious pain, they steal eggs, and will take babies. Magpies I cannot do anything about but rats I can try. My ducks hate me stealing their babies, but the losses are terrific if I leave them, I use rabbit hutches so they can stay near the mums. I have upsetting the mums, but watching them lose their broods if I do not interfere is heartbreaking. I set the rabbit hutches out early, one momma has set her eggs in the cage, you know she knows that their will be issues, the first mum sits by the cage watching all the babies chatting to them, I tried putting her in the hutch but she went bonkers and this has led to trampled babies, so I took her out, I tried fencing but you need fencing underground up the side, the rats run across our heads on the nesting I need to keep them in when the government insists they are ‘caged’ because of winter bird flu, then the birds are indoctrinated and not keen to go out into the orchard which would be more natural, if I had my way they would wonder not be cooped up and have more chance of their brood not being such an easy target for the rats and magpies that get in despite fencing once I open up after the restrictions are lifted, caged banged have much lower losses. Sad but true.

I am with you all the way on this. People must have very different types of feet!

I tried wearing them on a canoe trip and found them uncomfortable when wet, just where I thought they would shine.

I wear Red Wing work boots almost all the time, however have a pair of Nike air which I wear to parades or just around the place when not doing hard work.

I have two pair of Red Wings, a steel toed Logger I wear when cutting and splitting wood and other rough service. Also a regular classic pair of work boots which are 6" when doing lighter work and to my job. They now cost north of $175 per pair but last a long time even with rough service.

I have my iPad streaming Stargate SG-1. There’s like 218 episodes. Gotta have that background noise.

Thank you guys, God bless you all.

And don't worry, a "funk" for me is only a minor set back in my normal positive outlook.

I have had bad nights sleeping rarely. I slept like a baby when I returned home from work this morning.

Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

Do your best and let God worry about the rest.

But what should have been a 15 minute job took almost two hours.
Willy- Around here my friends and family call that a "Floyd project".

Mikey - Looks like the legal system works in your part of the world.
I was "lucky" compared with some of the other cases. Due to multiple violations, two people lost their licenses and three others given later court dates for their cases by the judge.
I am pretty good about not abusing traffic laws; mostly bending the posted speed limit by a couple mph on interstate highways.
I rationalized the time spent as money well earned as the fine and court costs were what I consider excessive,

Well finally got round to doing some more RR stuff today.

I said in an earlier post that I need to downsize the number of loco's I have, (I have way to many), I don't run them, and I don't need them either, these are all ones that are still DC, I'm never going to convert them to DCC, especially the Bachmann's, as they are all split chassis, and too much hassle to chop chunks of weight out to make room for a decoder, so I have 15 that are going out the door, mainly Bachmann's, couple of Atlas, one Athearn and the one Mehano steamer I bought, looked at, and put back in it's box, flipping ugly and cheap looking thing that it is.

Tomorrow I need to go through my rolling stock, I don't have a lot, but the Riverrossi 84' UP passenger coaches are to go, I have the Kadee #451 couplings that I was going to fit on them, but my hands just aren't steady enough to put them together, and believe me, I've tried, so there gone.

Programmed 8 loco's and have 8 more to do, the second 8 are the latest ones I bought, all with sound, so I need to be careful I don't bugger them up, but I'll probably just change the address for each, and leave the other CV's as they are.

Still have 6 loco's I need to add decoders to, but I need to look to see which decoders I'll need first.

Fixed one of my SD60 Demo's, it had a faulty decoder, so I need to send that back next week. Also fixed 3 loco's that were semi non-runners for a friend at work, he's been asking about them for the last few weeks, so I'll drop them off when I go in to work on Monday, :( it was mainly wiring or dirty wheel issue. He could do it himself, but last time he tried fixing a wiring problem, he blew the motor, (as in melted it) and electrocuted himself as well, idiot was trying to use the house mains, 240v will definitely give you a blown motor, and a new hairstyle.😃

Also ordered 6 lengths of Flex-Track, unfortunately they are only 38" lengths, I think there are longer lengths, but I can't find any, as I've decided to re-lay about 75% of my track, I have too many smaller sections of track which are causing havoc with the HO loco's, hopefully having longer continuous sections will make it less problematic. While I do that I'm going to reconfigure and simplify the layout, having two main loops, couple of turnouts to be able to switch trains between the two in either direction, and have one turnout each for the shunt/goods yard and industry, I may try and build a small bridge on the far side to give it a little more depth and interest, but still in the planning phase, (in my head that is), when the new track arrives I can lay it out to get a better visual idea, putting it down onto paper or using something like AnyRail, just doesn't help, I need to actually see what I'm trying to build, be able to pin it in place and run some trains to see where the problems lie, something I didn't do on the original build.

All in all, a pretty good day.

Everyone have a good day/evening, TTFN.

My, my it's July. Good morning to each and every one. A surprisingly cool morning, 76. Of course it won't last, as 90's are predicted.

I did manage to run a little switching yesterday, something I really enjoy. I also experimented with my Samsung phone camera. It has a setting called "night" so I thought I'd give it a try. It does seem to take away some of the glare of the engine and building lights.

STAY SAFE

LATER
That looks really nice Tex. Everything stands out well.

The wait begins. Inside this pressure cooker are 7 quarts of homemade spaghetti sauce. 30 pounds of tomatoes, 1.5 lbs onion, and a few handfuls of basil and oregano, all from the garden. Mushrooms, garlic and other assorted spices from Kroger.

As soon as the timer goes off and I turn off the heat, it's pool time. I've been doing this since 10:00 this morning with a half hour lunch break and a 45 minute nap. Only one knife cut on the left index finger.
I actually made 8 quarts but only 7 fit in the canner. #8 is in the fridge to be used next week.
Sounds very tasty and looks even better.

Well, howdy there internet peeps.... It's Troy again.

Going to be quick...

LA is having their C-19 hospitalization rates increase, so they're looking at masking again. Their health comminission sets the rules based on the numbers they see. I like SoCal, but not fond of that city. I'm left of center so the politics aren't the issue. They are just tooo darn many stupid and rude people.

Stuff like people walking their dogs on the sidewalk (everyone has a frickin dog despite living packed in like sardines.) When wife or I would walk, they'd be on their right side of the sidewalk, with their dog on their left. Yes, the retractable leash stretched across our path. They'd make no attempt to pull the dog over to their side so two-way traffic on the sidewalk could continue by them. Then they'd dirty look or drop a "RUDE!" if we stopped to wait, or tried to step over the trip hazard they created.

It was usually ONLY when we were in the act of stepping over the leash that they'd pull the dog back. Really trying to trip us in the act.

So, it's a city with some really nice people, many, many more rude folks.

OK, more words to write.
get a German Shepherd or a Rottweiler or a Dobby and walk down the same side walk. Your tormentors will move over then.
