Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 82°. Forecast has changed and the NWS is now predicting 109° today and 112° tomorrow. Yesterday was only 104°. Thursday we should cool off to 101°. While this weather is not unprecedented, it is a bit unusual. If we indeed hit 109° today, it will break the record of 108°; the record for yesterday is 110° which we did not come close to attaining. Tomorrow's record set in 1918 is 108°, and it may be broken.
Took the day off yesterday from all gardening/canning activities, but I will resume both today. I can see red tomatoes from the bedroom window and there should be enough fully ripened ones inside to make a few pints of tomato sauce. Sauce is easy, puree the tomatoes, add salt and can. No real simmering or adding of other ingredients. Grilled a nice thick rib-eye last night along with skewers of Yellow Squash. Sauteed mushrooms and a garden salad completed the menu. Mostly household related chores yesterday, laundry, emptying the dishwasher, taking out trash/recyclables and even though we are under a countywide "burn ban", I burned the burn trash. No wind and I was a few feet away with the water hose ready, while watering nearby trees.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued the general cleanup in mid-town Ft Wish, otherwise known as the north side of the lower turn back loop.
Some photos of the general project area that I plan to improve in the next few weeks. I have removed most structures; the gas station is tied down by the wiring for the interior lighting, but it is basically complete already. From layout south to north.
Among the decisions to be made, is how to treat the 2"x4" support for the upper level in photo #2. The plan is partly to enclose it with that wrap-around structure made from DPM wall sections, but I am still undecided as to whether or not to extend the backdrop over the opening. I can go either way. But I am mainly concentrating on the surface stuff for now. I can decide on that when I do the other side, as it is closer to the layout edge on that side, thus making it easier to work on.
In order to feel like I accomplished something, I did some minor detailing on the signal shed shown in the first picture. I painted the foundation pylons a concrete color and added some weathering powder to the roof.
After seeing this picture, I will add a few streaks down the walls.
Guy -
As it is, unless I see a name on the display, I just don't answer. My phone is mostly running on silent mode.
I don't know about others, but my phone/service provider identifies "Spam and Telemarketers" for me. I have other fancy stuff on it, but I haven't bothered to learn about it.
I believe that you posted a picture of a female "Anna's Hummingbird".
Dave B - The table with books was a real inspired day. I get those occasionally.

Tom O - Hope that the art fair was enjoyable. I remember some pictures that you posted a couple of years ago that were really neat.
Curt - Bummer about the truck. Hope that it can be repaired easily. Front end collisions are usually the result of having the phone in front of one's face. Especially at that age.
Troy - Happy Anniversary to you and your bride.
Jeff - Good to read that you're feeling better. I love living in the country among the many farms and ranches here. While much is rangeland with cattle; wheat, corn, sorghum and occasionally cotton are grown near me. There's also a dairy or two and several large horse ranches. One in particular boards the horses used in the
Medieval Times restaurant/event center in Dallas.
Everybody have a great day. Stay safe and cool.
