Chicago is the same. You can walk around a city block and in all four directions, the wind is right in your face!6 degrees, sunny, and windy today. Reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day- same thing
every day.
The current cold reminds me of Montreal in February some years ago when I had to
travel there for a work. No matter how you dressed, the cold just goes through the
clothes to your bones.
I will have to take a look at these.Check out the outdoor clothing line from Deerhunter. They are based in Sweden, but you can buy from the UK or Germany if it's easier. The coat I have (Muflon, long) is made for still hunting. Warmer than down and absolutely the warmest coat I've ever worn. Canada Goose has nothing on this coat (except the price). Waterproof (not water resistant), wind proof, and comes with insulated hood.
It has two hand pockets, two cargo pockets with cartridge loops inside, two Napoleon pockets, and a radio pocket with antenna loop on the front. Two large interior pockets, a game pocket in the back, and has hand gloves your thumb and fingers go through. Elasticized cuffs, drawstring waist and a snow skirt are also included. If that's not warm enough, you can buy an additional insulated liner to zip in.
I bought this specifically for walking and working my last German Shepherd Dog in wintertime. It's a dandy coat. Those Swedes think of everything for cold weather.
I love this coat so much I bought my nephew one a couple of Christmases ago. He loves his too.
I will have to take a look at these.
I just haven't been able to find a decent coat that I feel warm in for the last couple of winters. They either aren't long enough to not let the wind come up underneath or the zipper goes wonky after a few months.
I don't mind dropping some coin on a good coat if it does what its supposed to do!
Louis, are you still off your meds,
If you can find one at an Army-Navy surplus store, an N3B parka is about the best I've used for about 58 years! They can be a little heavy, but with an underlayer of insulated underwear, Air Force fatigues (from the 1960's), would keep the top part warm at -40 F or worse. For you legs, insulated underwear and a pair of insulated flight pants (AF or Navy). Again, the problem may be finding these items.I will have to take a look at these.

That is so picturesque, looks like it could be a painting!Good evening all.
Where are we going in the USA?
Near Allentown PA. Grandfather is buried there.
Brooklyn NYC.
Albany NY Family live there
Love this scene in Civitavecchia. Rather cold to us, but a hardy couple are oblivious to it.
