Good Morning All. Clear and 25° out there this morning. Despite making it up to 50° yesterday, this ice isn't melting off yet. Schools are still closed today. Near 50° today but into the teens tonight. No warmup until Monday.

The Tele-Doc appointment yesterday went OK, all things considered. I haven't been feeling particularly well lately. BP is too low and pulse is too high. He told me to stop all BP meds immediately until the BP comes back to at least 120/xx. I've been running 100/50 for a week now. Pulse at 125 is the result of the heart pushing extra hard to supply blood. I do have to get out today and have a blood draw to check things out; hope that the roads are cleared enough for that.
Not much going on around here right now. Between not getting enough activity and feeling bad, things are slow.

I have been making it out to the train shed though, but only running trains for now. Not in the mood for anything else.

Interesting video yesterday regarding the loco derailment. I hope to see a follow up soon.

Everybody have a great Friday.

Good morning gang!

12° under sunny skies, feels like 3°. Looking for a high of 18°. Getting ready to head out, 1st to HD to return un-needed toilet parts. The queens throne a.k.a the master bedroom porcelain closet is fixed, thanks to my neighbor the plummer. Then off to DSW for some new shoes, then a haircut.

25 or 6 to 4 is my response to my granddaughter comes up to me and starts chanting 6, 7, 6, 7 . It totally fries her little pre-teen mind!

Louis, are you still off your meds, you've been rockin a bit too hard!! But then again must be off my meds too.

Maybe I need a Gummi ?

BBL !

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Cold still continues. Currently its 11F with an expected high of only 16f. Feels colder due to some dampness in the air.

Working on some household chores this morning. Usual stuff Not much else going on here.

No basketball game tonight so a rare Friday night off to have some basement time after dinner.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

25° currently and may get to 29° later, 0° overnight and mid-teens tomorrow. Then back in the 40's next week.

Running errands this morning. We have several that need doing. The boy got laid off last week so we're running him around before he loses his insurance. Cobra is a joke and many of the health plans on the government website aren't much better. Cost him more than unemployment will give him.

Boss kind of eluded in a meeting yesterday that I may have to come back on Fridays when our Cybersecurity Administrator goes out on maternity leave in 7 weeks. It would mean not having Fridays for medical appointments and more gas, but home earlier every evening. Getting to where I may reconsider going 5 more years, and only doing the 2 more until I hit 67...I'll have that chat with my finance guy when we meet next week.

6 degrees, sunny, and windy today. Reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day- same thing
every day.

The current cold reminds me of Montreal in February some years ago when I had to
travel there for a work. No matter how you dressed, the cold just goes through the
clothes to your bones.

Chicago is the same. You can walk around a city block and in all four directions, the wind is right in your face! 😆

Check out the outdoor clothing line from Deerhunter. They are based in Sweden, but you can buy from the UK or Germany if it's easier. The coat I have (Muflon, long) is made for still hunting. Warmer than down and absolutely the warmest coat I've ever worn. Canada Goose has nothing on this coat (except the price). Waterproof (not water resistant), wind proof, and comes with insulated hood.

It has two hand pockets, two cargo pockets with cartridge loops inside, two Napoleon pockets, and a radio pocket with antenna loop on the front. Two large interior pockets, a game pocket in the back, and has hand gloves your thumb and fingers go through. Elasticized cuffs, drawstring waist and a snow skirt are also included. If that's not warm enough, you can buy an additional insulated liner to zip in.

I bought this specifically for walking and working my last German Shepherd Dog in wintertime. It's a dandy coat. Those Swedes think of everything for cold weather.

I love this coat so much I bought my nephew one a couple of Christmases ago. He loves his too.

Good day to you all, it's 30F here and sunny. We are gonna try to get out in a bit, will find out how good the Carnival ahndle is snow pack getting out of the driveway. If it feels squirrelly I'm turning it around. Got some Battletech miniatures arriving today, nice to have the Post Office running again. I'll probably take LadyC to Arby's while we are out.
And here's the greatest 25 or 6 to 4:

I will have to take a look at these.

I just haven't been able to find a decent coat that I feel warm in for the last couple of winters. They either aren't long enough to not let the wind come up underneath or the zipper goes wonky after a few months.

I don't mind dropping some coin on a good coat if it does what its supposed to do!

You won't be sorry with the Muflon. Order the long. That's not long in the sleeves, but a few inches longer at the bottom for more coverage.

Be advised though, overseas European clothing has the zipper zip on the opposite side of US clothing. It's easy to get used to though. I do it now without even thinking about it.

It looks like the don't offer it in a long, unless they are all long now. It looks like mine in the photo, so they may all be long now and they cut out the regular length. It also looks like one of the Napoleon pockets has been changed or eliminated.

Check it out here where I bought mine and my nephew's:

Muflon Pro Winter Hunting Coat

I'm a little confused since they have these listed twice and both have different style numbers. You might want to email them and ask what the difference is. They respond quickly.

If you can find one at an Army-Navy surplus store, an N3B parka is about the best I've used for about 58 years! They can be a little heavy, but with an underlayer of insulated underwear, Air Force fatigues (from the 1960's), would keep the top part warm at -40 F or worse. For you legs, insulated underwear and a pair of insulated flight pants (AF or Navy). Again, the problem may be finding these items.

Good evening all.
Where are we going in the USA?
Near Allentown PA. Grandfather is buried there.
Brooklyn NYC.
Albany NY Family live there

Love this scene in Civitavecchia. Rather cold to us, but a hardy couple are oblivious to it.

We have heard from the local shipping agent that our ship arrives tomorrow.

That is so picturesque, looks like it could be a painting!
