Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 33°. Yes, the calm before the storm. It was 65° here yesterday, very nice. Expecting 60° today with the initial cold hitting here around 10:00 am tomorrow. The rain/sleet/freezing rain/snow starts around dusk tomorrow, and is supposed to end around noon Sunday. Not a pleasant forecast by any means; but not as bad as some of you are expecting. The sleet and freezing rain are the major issues here. That and the single digit temperatures. I think that we are as prepared as we can be.
Headed out this morning for the weekly grocery trek. Hopefully we're going early enough in the morning to avoid any serious crowds. No other stops are planned, except maybe gassing up the car. Not sure how much is in the tank right now.
Due to the upcoming weather, we have rescheduled a primary care doctor visit that we had for Monday. Just doesn't make any sense to even think of driving on what may still be slush/iced roads. The only place around here with snow removal equipment is the airport!
I spent part of yesterday loading the covered front porch with firewood so I don't have to trudge through any inclement weather for the next few days. Today I will also load a wagon load to position closer to the back porch, since I don't want to block the front door completely. That wood will get wet (presumably) but it just gets wet on the outside and it will dry off after an hour under the wood stove. I have sensed a cutback in heating with wood in the next couple of years, and need to bite the bullet and install a heat pump. It's not for any monetary reasons, but I feel that the time spent cutting and preparing the year's supply of firewood can be better spent doing other things. It just takes me a lot longer to do it these days.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I touched on a couple of projects. I made the needed repairs on the handful of broken tractors that I posted yesterday. I started with one that just needed a single back wheel on it, and I immediately broke the other one off.
Decided that they were all going to need more than just a dab of super glue, so I drilled a hole in each wheel and in the axle ends and added a small piece of .017" wire to make the connection stronger.
One just needed it's steering wheel reattached. Some others needed the front wheels as well, but those just came unglued rather than broken.
All five are now whole.
I will be looking up some pictures on the net to see what I can do to detail them some more.
The other project was to add some passengers and driver to the Continental Trailways bus.
Currently waiting on the workbench for reassembly.

Jim - That stuff should keep you busy for a while.
Michael - I am constantly in awe with the authentic German scenery on your layout. I have only been to Europe once, in Austria, and that's what your scenes remind me of.
Swal - Nice car.
Mike - I have gotten used to the heated seats and steering wheel in our Lexus. It's also automatic on/off depending on both the cabin and outside temperature. Not sure if the back seats have it also, as I never have sat back there!
Kevin - I rarely go in a Walmart, but the customer's are always entertaining. They seem quite fashionable (???) as well!
Troy - I wish your friend well in the election, but I don't think she (Sharon Wight I presume) has a chance against a 14-year incumbent.

for my static gras matt creation, he now creates a base, so that i can put the paper on it, and get the plate as the grounding? hope thats the correct word. i hope to get better results when i add static gras with it. and iam still searching for a easy way to make tufts, in a larger scale. but i will find a way for shure.
Looking back I shoulda got them from Ebay, actually would've been quicker. They'll get here sometime next week supposedly..
