Good evening. The guessers are basically predicting the end of humanity based on the scare tactics being used regarding our upcoming weather. Thursday morning at wake up it should be around +18f /-8c. At 6pm they are saying -18f/ -28c BUT with wind chills of -42f/ -41c in other words, IT WILL BE COLD.

The pattern breaks Monday after the noon hour when the real temperature breaks above 0f degrees.

Spent most of the afternoon and evening at the bench. Working on the engine shed floor, one of the power plant walls and the paper mill’s shipping department framing and walls. So I’m busy…

and that’s good

Those ones in his pic are N scale and are 1:150 like Japanese N and run on 9mm N gauge track.

Japan's rail system is mostly* cape gauge or 1067mm, just slightly larger than meter gauge. Because of that the Japanese use 1:150 for non Shinkansen bullet train models and 1:160 for bullet trains. All run on normal 9mm N track.

* some private railways like Hankyu and many others are standard gauge, but the JR train system, with one or two minor exceptions, is all cape gauge except the separate Shinkansen network which is standard gauge. The JR rail system is the current version of the previous Japan National Railways (JNR), which was privatized in the late 1980s into multiple JR (Japan Rail) companies, and they run most of the train networks. Though there are extensive smaller private rail networks in major and some minor cities or metro areas. And it is these smaller private ones that sometimes run on standard gauge

Ah, I didn't realize they were Japanese N scale.

Yeah the link Kusojiji posted was to KATO RhB offerings in N. I happen to have that as one of my non Japanese focuses and have half a dozen of the Ge 4/4 II and III engines and EW I wagons as well as the Glacier Express wagons and some freight.

In fact my Red Glacier Express #644 is running right now on my test track as I work on my software throttle tonight.

First, Happy Anniversary Mikey!
Didn't sleep worth a nickel last night and puttered around today. Proctored a video Bible Class at Church tonight. After I got done ran by Walmart to pick up a couple of groceries and WOW it was certainly ...... entertaining? Saw two women, each in scooters and a guy with each of them, and the women were screaming at one another and the guys arguing too. All adults, looked to be in their 40s. Debated about sticking around for the show, but decided not to.

Checking my weekend forecast..............

It will be a miracle if the power and internet stay on here in my west Texas burg.
Saturday and Sunday look the worst.

I hit the grocery store today and they were packed. I had to wait to get a shopping cart. I think everyone was trying to get an early "stock up" for the weekend. In my 12 years here, I have never seen the store parking lot so full. And for the fourth week in a row, my store has NO rye bread. I guess I will have to start ordering groceries from Wallmart delivery.
Our Dollar General turned into a "D-G Market" a couple of years ago. I noticed there today about 8 or 10 name brand items had a much lower price ( $2 or so ) than the grocery store......Johnsonville Brats were $2 a pack cheaper and Progresso soup was$1 cheaper per can. It pays to shop around. The DG Market is only about 4 blocks from the grocery store.

I'll post about my trip to the train show last Saturday a bit later.

I did get 2 turnout servos and wiring installed yesterday. Maybe a couple more tomorrow.

Take care everyone....John

The planes are known as Air Force One and Two only when the President or Vice President are on board them, otherwise they are known by their tail numbers.

Well howdy there internet peeps, and those recovering from a night of hot passionate anniversary sleep! And those stocking up on French Toast supplies for the winter storm

It's Troy again.

And it's Book Blast Day!

If you know of anyone looking to fill up their Kindles or Ereaders with free cozy mystery books, let me know via DM and I'll send you the link. Over 150 books, including one of my series starters that I keep free year round, are available for download from your favorite electron retailer.

Currently, my book is doing well on the Kindle Free charts (Amazon separates the free books into their own "Top 100" based on the categories. Since I just released a new book in this series, the free first in series is actually doing well. Hopefully most of the downloaders get around to purchasing the rest of the series.

It's just the beginning of the book blast day, so I hope to see at least one #1 category ranking from it.

As for the weather, we're currently at 21 Fing degrees here in the NE Indiana Fort. We were in the "miss" zone for snow, but the latest Euro model bumped the zone up to include us, with the worst on Sunday.

Which is bad, because I got people to ready to game the new game on Sunday.

If you want to see the behind the data-guessing stuff, I like Ryan Hall's Weather Channel. He compares the models, talks about what conditions are causing this.

In other news, election cycle is ramping up. A female friend of mine, with a similar political trajectory as my own just filed to run for Indiana State Rep (Statehouse, not congress). This is deep red Indiana (we're a 60/40 state) and she's running as "not red" in a rural zone. So it will depend on how pissed the farm community is as to whether she has a chance. Her race will probably be the only one I donate to. I've been main staff/steering committee on two statewide campaigns for the underdogs, and I know what she's facing.

Other than that, the wife said we can hit the mexican place tonight, and I can get my Cheese Dip quotient topped off for the blustery weekend. Tomorrow it'll be chili in the crock pot.

Good morning gang!

33° under partly cloudy skies, looking for a high today of 45°. Damn near a heat wave! But don’t be fooled Friday the rug gets pulled out from under us and we drop into the teens by late Friday evening into Saturday at which point the white death will fall from the sky. Best info from the weather guesses at this point is for a foot or slightly more to come between Saturday and Sunday. I visited the grocery store across the street from my job yesterday at lunchtime and it was a flipping madhouse. It’s the end of the world as we know it!

On the lighter sider, NEW happy anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Mikey!

Good morning all!

Its the calm before the big chill arrives. Currently its 14F with an expected high. Doesn't sound all that terrible but with the wind
it feels like -13. Big cold starts arriving later tonight as the temps will fall well below zero by dawn. They have upgraded from a
cold weather advisory to a cold weather warning. Wind chills will be as low as -40F.

Usual household chores today. Laundry, dishwasher, etc.....

No basketball games or practices tonight so its a free night to play with trains.

Have a safe day everyone!
