Good morning Crew. I looked at the weather app and it said 25f degrees with a current snow shower. Looked out the window to a strange sight. Snow covered sidewalks and streets but the grass was still green. Did what I do when I wake up, popped into the kitchen for my morning routine of pills, weigh myself, mark down in the IPadpro my glucose wake upnumber and grabbed my diet Dr Pepper. Next up is move the blinds into Terry’s preferred morning spots and looked out to fully covered grassy areas where 15 minutes earlier they were snow free! There was no mention of this white stuff in the forecast besides saying a 10% chance on the app. I hope the leaf blower can handle this as I doubt the service ( 1st season with them) will come out. I’ll check the contract 1st before I do anything out there.

30 for the high later today. Looks like a great day to stay indoors.I know Terry mentioned we need to hit up the grocery stores and wanted to do it this morning. This snow may change things. She has a procedure this afternoon as an out patient with possibilities of an over night stay. Her Trigeminal Neuralgia pain has been severe at times since Thanksgiving after being dormant for 8 years. She agreed yesterday to an injection along the pain line and insurance said yes to the procedure last week. It’s not an experimental thing as it’s been in use for a few years but there is no consistent pattern of relief for the patients that have done this injection. 8 years ago it was just strong pain relievers. Hope this works

Enjoy your day

Edit: snow service is here! Answered that

I finished up making the framework for the Conrail drawing and it's now on the layout wall. I found some unused molding for the vinyl flooring I had installed to make the frame with. I didn't have enough for the second drawing of the FL9 unit's so I I'm making the frame out of molding I bought from the Home Depot. I'm making the frames instead of buying them because I couldn't find any that were 6 X 44 and 6 X 32. You can see the molding I installed were the old 2nd deck use to be and also the new drop ceiling. More photos of the other wall art in a few days. I did make one printing mistake on the Conrail drawing concerning the white outer boarder and it will have to be resized and reprinted. You can see where the next drawing is to be positioned.

Woke up to use the facilities at 4:45am and couldn't go back to sleep. Maybe dozed off for a few minutes at a time... Had to get up for a rare Friday morning work meeting that started at 6:30am (12 min ago). Was 20F when I woke up, got down to 19F, and is back to 20F. Supposedly mid to upper 30s today and 60% chance of snow tomorrow.

I was thinking more about this last night.
I was wondering if an insurance company could deny a claim based on the shear negligence of this driver?
Also could there be criminal charges?

The driver probably only has the min required liability...

I was thinking about the cost of this to Brightline. Do they go after the City for the firetruck that got hit recently or in this case the driver? I can imagine that the costs are way more than most people have on their insurance policies (including damage to the train, lost business from having the train removed from service, etc). I don't know what those costs / expenses are so was just musing....

Morning all,

30° and snow stopped when I got up this morning. We ended up with between 5 and 6" of stuff, but it didn't really blow around. Took me a bit over 30 minutes to clear the stuff off the driveway. Currently 26° and clear, but the sun is shining so anything plowed will clear off pretty quick. They did close city hall this morning, so I don't have to attend the video conference. I got 3 hours of my life back.

May try to do some trains.

Good mornin' y'all. 34 and cloudy w/c 27 - Hi today 39 low tonight 25 - no snow all the rain has moved on to the east. so just another damp, chilly day.
TX Hobo - got a kick out of the cartoon.. been there, done that. The move to Cheyenne is not something we would have done on our own. The daughter we thought would never get married and/or settle down got married and settled down. She was on a traveling nurse assignment and just happened to meet the right guy. So they bought a nice place in town and spent 6 months remodeling their basement into a very nice 1br studio apartment. We've been to visit several times and I used to get up that way a good bit when I was in the trucking business so we're pretty familiar with the area. Yep, its cold and the wind blows...
Locally.. SFA students back this weekend. Restaurants, bars and Walmart will be packed and traffic on North St and University Dr will be crazy... nothing new about that...
Y'all have a good day - stay safe, stay warm, be cool.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 30°, the first wave of snow has moved on. Looks like a secondary wave will be here in about two more hours, but doesn't look to be too severe. Should get above freezing around noon but a frigid night in store in the mid-teens. More normal weather after tonight, even into the 60's by the end of next week. All things considered, this has been a light snow, but in this area, there is no such thing as snow removal equipment. I haven't been out to the road to look at it yet, but there has been a little traffic moving slower than normal.

Going to have to head out to the snow-covered wood pile this morning. I have enough dry firewood to last all day and into the night, but I need to get some into staging/drying for the rest of the night and into tomorrow. Snow doesn't really wet it much, and is only on the top layer of the wood stack, so there is a bright side.

I didn't bother going out to the train shed yesterday, but I spent a few hours sorting, filing and in some cases deleting model railroad photos. I didn't realize that I was so far behind in my efforts. Today, I will continue the process.
For Louis, I found a couple of pictures of the black & white vehicle that he asked about last week. I don't know who the manufacturer is, but it is not Oxford that I originally guessed, since it has no interior detailing. It is a '56 Chevy BelAir to the best of my memory. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Looks like the ink on the license plates that I added has faded.

David - That Beamish Museum seems like a neat place.
Todd - You're right on about some of the issues in California regarding the fires. Although I am not sure that many of those celebrities who lost high-$$$ homes needed insurance to begin with.
Troy - My issue with model railroad design programs is that I could do it with pencil and paper (not even graph paper) much more quickly than I could learn the program.
Westex John - Not sure if I am going to the show or not yet. Interesting that they now tack on an extra dollar admission for using a credit card! At least parking is still free.

Fellow modeler and musician Rod Stewart is 80 today. Another rocker, Pat Benatar is 72.

Everyone have a great Friday. The light snow has resumed here.

It wouldn't be cost-effective for most individuals, but getting a lifetime court judgement for a couple million would probably get the average driver's attention when word started getting out.

That would be a 1955 Chevy BelAir you have pictured.
Willie....I think you have my cell# from an earlier pm. I should be at the Plano show around 10:30 am. Weather is supposed to be nice. Give me a call if you make it.

On another note, there is a Mexican food restaurant in Knox City that charges 3% extra on your bill if you use a credit card.

We just got a dusting of snow yesterday, thankfully. Bright sun today should melt remnants of the white stuff. Upper 50s on Saturday with plenty of sunshine.......looking forward to that.

Everyone have a great weekend....John

John: Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you're having issues. Come back as you can.

Neighbor's daughter (College Freshman) is running the neighborhood with mom's snowblower. There's a couple I usually do, but didn't so she did. It's a smaller single stage battery powered, so a lot less noisy then mine. While the shoulders aren't hurting from the machine, I am getting stiff from running mine this morning. forgot how heavy that machine can be. The stuff that was left is melting off the driveway. We have light winds and full sun. I went to see what remaining slush\ice I could take off with the shovel. Both shoulders said "NOPE!!!" So I guess I'm still not 100%, but would I ever be?

Been dealing with other issues all day so I'm not doing trains.

Lots of restaurants in my area of Wisconsin add 3% if a credit card is used. Many only accept cash.

Luckily we don't have much of that around here that I've seen. I'd turn around and walk out. I don't carry cash and if someone doesn't want my business I'll take it elsewhere. As a business owner who took cards I was annoyed by the costs of them but it was part of doing business and allowed me to do much more business than I otherwise would have been able to do.

Hey Len, if you haven't already, be sure to check out Harry Bunk's Union Central and Northern (UC&N) narrow gauge layout at the UP Museum downtown. And welcome to Wyoming.
