Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 45°, going up to 66° again today. Upcoming 10 day forecast looks great:

View attachment 210626

It can be deceiving though, remember 2021 when the "Deep Freeze" hit us beginning around February 11th and lasted for 11 days. Other than tonight, it looks like I can go without a fire in the wood-burning heater until the 6th.

No real issues with the weekly grocery trek yesterday except I had to sit in line at Dutch Bros Coffee for my wife. Triple points day or something like that. I dislike any and all drive-thrus. I see that gas prices have creeped up to $2.69/gal at most places. Boar's Head was distributing free samples at Kroger which was nice

Eventually I made it out to the train shed and finished painting the two building annex's for the Live Wire Manufacturing kit, but I left the camera out there; and I'm not yet in the mood to get dressed.
Here are a few more shots from the TNMRC layout. This is the next town on the same side of the layout.

Tom O - I must not have ever joined The Railroad Line forum, as I can't find a bookmark or password for it. I'm a member of a few others that I don't go to any more because I just don't have the time.
Yep! I now rely on Bill Gates to tell me the day and date, lower right corner for me.

Today is Nolan Ryan's 78th birthday. He grew up in and played high school baseball in Alvin TX, which was my father-in-law's home town. My FIL and Nolan's parents were neighbors, although he left town before Nolan was born. I happened to be at the infamous game in 1993 when he beat up the 20 year younger player for the Red Sox. Fans went wild that night. I also watched him pitch a no-hitter a couple of years before. One of my work vendors had season tickets so I got to go to many games back then.

Everyone have a great Friday.

Good Morning All!
28F @ 77% overcast. Made it to 34F yesterday. Guessers say warming trend. Ya, snow in the next few days and under 25F on Sunday - what trend?

Retired - don't care what day it is, and not really concerned about the time either. Days boil down to 6 'Someday' and 1 'Sabbath day'; and those might happen in any order. Time is as easy as 'Day Time', 'Nap Time', ' Food Time' or 'Night Time'. KISS is the best method.

As to the MidAir - two objects in the same location is not good. Heard that wind shear *could* have caused the AA flight to drop. The BlackHawk looked to be close or under it's ceiling. And on top of that - even if they were at the assigned altitudes, 150ft separation ain't that much. Still a waste.

Morning all,

Based on the fact my time off banks are max'd out (except sick time which I used up last year), what's a vacation? 😁

40° and windy with mostly cloudy skies. Clearing this afternoon and a high in the low 50's. Headed for the 60's over the weekend.

Hit the grocery store this morning. Local Kroger affiliate had 18 eggs on sale for $4.49. Bought the limit, but bought for the boy as well.
Kind of stocked up as I have some things we were starting to run low on. Put some things in the freezer for later as well.

We made it! Good mornin' y'all from our new digs in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It's a balmy 43 degrees w/c 38 with winds from the SSW at 16 mph. No precipitation in sight. Looks like above-freezing daytime temps until Wednesday or so.
Drive was mostly good. Some showers and wet roads through Texas, but nothing bad. Did get a bit tedious with some heavy snow between Trinidad and Pueblo Colorado, but snow cleared out and roads were good from Colorado Springs to Cheyenne.
Got the KIA unloaded this morning. Cheyenne elevation is about 6,000' ASL (1,855m). Not too bad, but it's a little rough on old people from sea level. It'll take a couple weeks to get acclimated to it, so it's slow going for a while. It's also very dry here; big difference between 57% in East Texas and 17% in Cheyenne. Already drinking a lot more fluids here.
That's about it from here. No train stuff for a while as the movers still have all our stuff in their warehouse waiting for a truck to come this way.
Y'all have a good day and take care.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those still sleeping in - because re-tired

It's Troy again...

Told the potential scammer in vegas I was firm on price, since I was selling painted minis for the cost of unpainted (with one exception, but that army won an award. So bite me!) Have not heard back from him (yet).

Wife wanted pulled pork tonight, with baked sweet potatoes.

So I just fired up the grill.

She bought an entire 10 lb butt roast the other week, to cut down and freeze sections. I've got about 2.5 to 3 lbs ready to go on the grill for some not quite low and slow smoking. (I'll start with 300 F degrees and let it die down if that's too fast.)

Of course we're in between rain at the moment May get a big push of rain about the time I want to take the pork off, though.

And, the freezer bag leaked pork juices in the meat drawer. Other than cleaning that fridge drawer with bleach spray, the only issue was half a bag of baby carrots I tossed just to be safe. They were sitting in the juice. So bye bye carrots. You're still cheap for now.)

Trying to get the Kickstarter stuff done. Unfortunately, it's going to run into next week. Monday, I'll start sending fulfillment links to ebook downloads. But I still need to write that short story. That should only take a couple of days, but I need the schedule cleared of the pesky stuff that distracts me. That stuff always has a deadline, so it pushes back the short story.

Len: Welcome to WY. We moved from 0-90' ASL to Green River, WY ~6,200 ASL. It took a little more than 2 years for my lungs to get acclimated to the elevation. All good now. Down Home diner is our favorite Cheyenne eatery when we visit.

In that area the ceiling for the helo was supposed to be 200 ft. He was at 300 ft. I am not saying anything about it. Just that's the facts per several different competent channels I watch on YT. Also outside of the corridor supposedly.

All around a tragic accident and we need to wait for the initial, interim, and final report(s).

Green River is interesting. We were there for a club swim meet several years ago. A nice pool for a small city in the middle of no where :)

The UP yards were interesting to drive by.

Good Friday evening from the Jersey Shore. 49°, yes 49° and cloudy with rain. So far today's rainfall is an underwhelming 0.16". The media has pronounced this the driest January since 1981, or 1980 depending which station you watch.

My Natural gas bill for 1/31/25 came to $322.94, the highest since I went to a energy efficient system, 22 years ago. They were approved a big rate increase, for capital expansion into neighborhoods that have never had gas...Also the commodity price went sky high, (up 22%), when it was determined we were in for an extended cold snap. This winter "averaged" 8° colder than last winter comparable period. This too shall pass....they are calling for 60° next Thursday. Only in Jersey!

Enjoy your weekend. Timonium Md show this weekend. I haven't been there in 10 years. It was always fun.
