Afternoon all,

Hit it running this morning. Finally have a couple of minutes.

Currently 43° but a front is coming through. We're in a wind Chill advisory for the weekend and through Tuesday. High temps of 4° predicted on Sunday and Monday. If so that will break 45 year old records for lowest high temps. Wind chills to -20° in the area with -2° for lows. Winter in Kansas.

Swal: Sorry to hear about your pet.

Got to hit the road to go to another building to check some network wiring. Not sure what's needed, but I do have an idea. Besides they are running new carpet in the office across from mine and I'm getting a contact cement high from the fumes.

try to BBL

You can tell there’s another big snowstorm predicted for the area. I went to the store for a couple of items and the place looked looted again. They had just restocked from the Tuesday snow.

The only bread left was a couple of smashed loaves. Bet the stockers love that!

Afternoon All,

Started off the day with a walk at 46F and luckily no breeze. I spent a good part of the morning doing chores. After lunch I headed up to the train room and ran a Athearn F7 while I worked on the kit. I run a different engine/consist while I work on projects so that they all get run time. I put in windows and doors on the walls then attached trim to the walls. That all took about 2 hours. Tomorrow the walls should go together.

Joe- Too many choices, just stick with Pennsy which simplifies everything. :D

Chad- That is a very nice sized train room.

Bill- Neat photo.

Alan- Pets are an adventure.

TomO- Great looking diesels.

Karl- You should wear that all the time!

Sherrel- I laughed at your post visualizing that.

David- Good for you. Prove the ba*****s wrong.

Mikey- That sounds great.

Willie- Nice looking diesels (whatever they are). That's my favorite SF paint scheme. As a kid my Tyco GP-something was painted that way.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Morning folks

Didn't make it to the forecast negative 8 last night with Mother Nature only offering a wimpy +3F. That will no doubt be the warmest low for several increasingly brutal days. It dumped several inches of new snow but with no town trips planned for the next few days, it can wait for any relocation efforts.

The scanner was giving me problems yesterday but I think I have that remedied.
Grizzled:
Ya we were supposed to be at -16F today, currently 21F and has been snowing since about 0400. Looks like about 10" new on the ground. Wind did come up for a bit about 1100 but did not matter to much.

As long as it stays overcast/cloudy I suspect the temp will hover around the current to 10F or so.

Time will tell.

Later

Good Afternoon All!

21F @72% ( see my reply to Grizzled; above for details. )

Talked with Chet for awhile yesterday afternoon. He is good and has a new Granddaugther causing multiple visits to Boseman.

He is getting a real itch for a small ( or the like ) shelve layout and has been twirling it in his mind. So far, maybe 10ft by 18" or something like that. He will figure out something that fits his space!

Y'all be good now.

CAT BATHS!
Shucks ... just put the little bugger in the toilet - flush a few times and your done!
I know you are better than that.

I would have laughed at your joke, but I saw a guy try to do that once. He had two Siamese cats. I heard that when one had done something he did not like he would him in the toilet and flush it, over and over.

I was at his and his roommate's eviction party. They were not great people. One sold coke, the other quaaludes and still they could not pay the rent. I asked Mitten, the one with the cats, if he put his cats in the toilet. He answered, "hell yeah, you want to see?" I replied "no unless you want your head in the toilet" I dampened the mood of the party, but still it got worse, much worse. As those kinds of parties usually did.

Thats awful, What a dreadful person!

Good for you Louis for standing up for those poor animals!

Hello from the getting prepped for another dump of the white stuff this week. Officially 9” on Monday and 3” last night. Tomorrow anywhere from 3 to 9” but the tough part is the drop to single digit temperatures Saturday night, Sunday and Monday. The grocery store, normally empty of shoppers at noon on Thursday was packed.

Today WAS SUPPOSED to be an internet free day that started off an hour later then planned at 8am due to me actually waking at 7:01. Turned everything off at 8 and around 9:30, Terry comes into the train room and says text your brother. Since he retired he hates the phone but I called him! Business drama and issues with his girl friend. Then I ended up spending a couple hours online doing research on a few things for him. He is coming in Saturday night and will be here for the Packer party. Monday, we go up to Steven Point to visit his attorneys, oh my!!!

Thought everything was fine until Terry again showed up in the train room. This time more drama caused by the SIL’s dad who did not follow advice from Terry a few months ago. His wife passed away at the end of May. His step-son a few days before his mom passed made some changes to her will and she unknowingly signed it. Lots of legal drama with the SIL’s dad hiring a friend who is a hack attorney.

Terry many years (2008) ago went through a similar legal drama when her dad passed and made her Conservator of the Estate over her mom. 2 brothers and her sister totally were against it even though prior to his death he distributed part of the estate with the understanding NO ONE was to ask the mom for anymore money, in writing when they accepted the money and signed by all. They severely were beaten in the courts but it was a 3 year drama and took a toll on Terry, her family relationship and even our own. Then her mom passed in 2019 and the same 2 brothers and sister went after the Estate again. They used the same lawyers and again Terry’s lawyers annihilated them in court and this time going for damages. That destroyed her relationship with her sister who turned 60 yesterday and soured it with the other 2 brothers. The 3rd and youngest brother has stood behind his big sister from the beginning.

Terry had offered her advice and attorneys to help the SIL’s dad, he ignored it in favor of using his friend. Tomorrow though the SIL’s dad is going to meet with the attorney that handled both of Terry’s family fights. Seems the step-son actually has been taking money out of the estate even though the courts supposedly froze everything.

Between Terry and myself most of the afternoon has been spent online. It took me more than 40 minutes talking to the SIL’s dad that we will help him. Turns out because the monies were supposedly frozen he has been existing on just his Social Security and he is unable to even sell the house as it’s part of his and his wife‘s trust that the stepson has hijacked. He said ok finally to the help and Terry is handling it now!

I am now heading back to the train room and my SAD wall of lights. I need a 😴 nap and I still don’t want to see the Beetlejuice musical tonight.

thanks for reading…

Ok, a new weather update. 8 to 13” of snowfall is coming per the weather guessers

forgot to post this earlier... here goes:

woke up from the nap with the tinnitus going nuts.

Put the hearing aids in, and told the youtubez to find me crickets and rain. That's now going into my ears via the bluetooth.

Boiling water now, to add the rotini to the Sausage N Peppers in the crock pot

Yeah! I like your idea, but...to my recollection, the PRR never had any SW1500s. They upgraded SW-7s instead, giving them MU capability...NYC bought maybe 10. After the merger, they pretty much stayed on the Central side, while we stuck with our aging Baldwins and Alcos. The Reading, on the other hand kept modernizing, with 15year replacement cycles. I think there was an all green one, I have to look. Meanwhile, My Pennsy portion fleet will include SW1, NW2, Alco S-2, Baldwin S-12m Baldwin RS-12, and AS 616. That's nice and diverse.
