Good late morning as I start typing this, it’s 7:28. My late start is because I slept in to 7:01 and miracles of miracles Terry is still sleeping. ( I checked, she is still breathing) We have fresh snow with the app just saying less than 2”. Today we start the fall down to single digit high temperatures for Saturday and Sunday with sub zero numbers on those overnights. But it’s 25f degrees now and it’s going to 29 around mid afternoon. Tonight it drops to 15 and the high tomorrow around 20.
Thursday! Woops! Sorry about the print. Tonight we have a musical that I’m not looking forward to. Beetlejuice. I will report tomorrow. Today the internet free day is starting at 8am instead of 7 because of the sleep in…
Yesterday I did work a bit on the layout and just let some trains run. I tested the 2 new locomotives that arrived on Monday. 2 Athearn Genesis 9-40c’s that look gorgeous with nice details but not the seemingly to me fragile details Scaletrains has on their 9-40c’s that have been tough to find anyway.
I need to break these in today and tomorrow as weather depending there is an op session that they have been put down to operate a train on Saturday afternoon. There are a couple layouts that request we bring locomotives to run the schedule. This guy is a rolling stock junkie who built this layout in 2021 and just started sessions in the past Spring. He isn’t buying any more locomotives until this Summer and the Crew is helping him out with the running power.
He has ordered up a paper mill (structures only) that I did start on just before Thanksgiving. I am returning a favor as he is one of the 12 that helped get my layout up and running in September and October.
The diesels were masked off yesterday and given a spray of a Matt clear coat. They will run today masked off today but some light weathering will be added Friday.
Enjoy the day
Drywall finishers that work on stilts must be extremely expensive!
That is one amazing house! You will be running trains before you know it.
I don't know anything about it but the way it was explained to me when I expressed wonder at the use of stilts was that it is pretty common as it makes it faster more convenient. I really don't know. This is not a cheap piece of the house but for how much they have to do and the recent inflation and how everything, especially labor, has gotten a lot more expensive, it seems reasonable.
I know I could never do the stilts, It would be scaffolding and ladders for me. They do also use scaffolding.
Heavy leather gardening gloves work better. Cat claws would penetrate that glove with no effort at all!

Willie. I cannot remember a time recently where we had a full week of sunshine. It annoyed me the other day the Global Warming Brigade saying 2023 was the hottest year in years. Twaddle.

Don't forget proper eye and head protection too!
This is my cat bathing attire!
Cat baths....always something to look forward to.
Swampside temperature is 42°, with a milky sun. Going to 45°.
Yes Willie, I am definitely feeling each involved muscle and joint.
Good afternoon all. Flo, I'll have a double whisky. Make it a single malt, I need it.
Today I received results on my hole in the heart and irregular heartbeat.
Not good according to the doctor.
There again it wasn't good when I was born. Then I was given less than a month to live.
Over the years the many tests and results have been more or less the same. 'Take it easy or else'.
Oh well. One day they will be right. NOT YET THOUGH.

Cat Baths
Never had a bath with a cat.
It snowed last night a couple inches of light powdery snow. A "snow squall" came through and dumped most of it thow a small amount continued in the night. This was the third snow of the week, where each was 1-3" though one was maybe 2-4". All light powdery stuff.
Today I have to take the wife's car to get the tire fixed. Due to work meetings I'll not be able to go to Discount Tire when they open, so I'll probably have to wait an hour or two

CAT BATHS!
Shucks ... just put the little bugger in the toilet - flush a few times and your done!

The stilts make sense. Speed and efficiency are important.
My late cousin, Jack Campbell was a drywall finisher, the highest paid guy on the crew. I could hang drywall fast, but I was much too slow to be a finisher. Jack made twice as much as I did. The best finishers work fast and make it look easy.
You don't want to get cheap with hiring finishers. Not even the best high hiding paints will cover up poor work.

That makes two of us.
Morning all and those who are playing 'The Newlywed Game'!
Very interesting reading - I will contribute later on -- I managed to sleep until 7am this morning due to some medication that actually makes me sleepy.
50 glorious degrees and light rain (mostly clearing as we speak). The local weather says we caught 0.15 inches. Should reach 60 for a high - later.
FLO - MEL did good last time; maybe he will make me a plate of scrambled with bacon and whole weat toast - I'll wait!
Oh yeah, the mud/tapers walk around on stilts. I saw one of them up in the train room, I caught a gander of these stilts in the "great room". Those have to be like 14' tall or something
I always love when the project gets to this stage, it means you're getting closer to the big prize!
Thats going to be a gorgeous house!

Tried that. It blocks the pipe though!

Even with all that gear on, I bet you would still get pretty sliced up. Wet cats are wirely little creatures!

CAT BATHS.
Dawn your cat needs a bath.
Problem solved.
Morning folks
Didn't make it to the forecast negative 8 last night with Mother Nature only offering a wimpy +3F. That will no doubt be the warmest low for several increasingly brutal days. It dumped several inches of new snow but with no town trips planned for the next few days, it can wait for any relocation efforts.
The scanner was giving me problems yesterday but I think I have that remedied.
