Well howdy there internet peeps...

New profile pic today... That's supposed to be me as a wizard... Hmmmm.... evidently wizards are required to have facial hair... Not sure how I feel about that.

Goatee? Stache?

I've had a stache before. Shaved it about 20 years ago and never looked back. Now I'm debating again...

Got to go borrow the friend's SUV again to pick up the last of our six panel doors from Lowes. Wife said get them, but she's not painting them.

I suspect they'll wait until spring before we install them. Since they're not prehung, I'll have to trim each one down a bit on the tops and side. Then route out the hinge mortices.

Wonder where the wife is taking me for lunch before we do all this door stuff?

The weather guessing bug says we're supposedly getting light snow:

But I just checked the outside view via the Ring camera, and NADA! Evidently we're on the extreme edge of whatever weather is moving around

Good morning from a snowy white So. Central Wisconsin. The 10% chance of a flurry has turned into 1” already on the ground and it’s still falling. There was nothing happening at 12:30 this morning as I looked at the weather app as I hopped into bed. I never looked out the window getting dressed for my swim and was rather shocked at what I found

It’s a hockey day in this household. The grandson plays at 10am and 1:30pm at the local home arena. If the teams from Eau Claire can travel the 3 hours in the snow that is. Then at 5 it‘s back to the UW campus for another Women’s game against Merrimack. Last night dinner was out early at 5 and very good and the results of the 7pm game were 6-1 in favor of the Badgers. 1st game since the second weekend in December and the 1st home game in 6 weeks. Our super star All American, defensive player of 2022-23 and leader is still out. Not a crisp game but the Badgers just had a deeper bench and more talent. It was only 2-1 at the start of the 3rd period. Today it’s the game 1st then dinner out around 8pm.

I will check into the train room just to check on yesterday’s projects. All weathering stuff but I have no plans to yield a hand brush or air brush today. If I do anything it’s to adjust a few tracks in the small paper mill. This layout has 2 paper mills, a very large intergrated one that I was able to keep the pulp and wood chip yards from the previous layout and across the river a small corrugated mill that I’m not sure will stay. It’s in the plans though and is laid out. I have a friend who keeps telling me it should be an unloading facility for auto racks for the large city I don’t model or the autoracks I don’t have.

enjoy the day

Good morning, everyone!

Received about 1/2" or so of snow last might. Haven't been out, but looks to the wet heavy variety, good for building forts and snowball fights. I see a few flakes still falling, but according to the radar its out if the area. looks like Tuesday before we get anymore precipitation.

Have a great day all!

Good morning gang!

29° and light light flurries right now, as the storm is just starting. It is supposed to snow for the next3-4 hours, then change to rain with a high temp of 36° with rain til 8 p.m. or so. Eerily quiet this morning here at work. The newscasters have everyone spooked I guess. They have put enough brine solution down on the roads ahead of the storm to pickle a pig, an most of it will be in the storm drain before long. I don't get it.

After work I'll stop at the liquor store and restock on Twisted Tea and get lottery tickets (ever hopeful). Then light the fire in the basement and settle down at the workbench.

Cola wars. My favorites now are Coca Cola Zero sugar, Mountain Dew Zero Sugar and Mountain Dew Zero Sugar Baja Blast. The Zero Sugar Baja Blast was briefly available in select stores, but temporarily pulled. It is still available exclusively at Taco Bell, but Pepsico expects a full store release sometime this year. The Coke zero does have the most true to original Cake taste, with that slight 1st sip burn that we love. I also wont turn down Birch beer soda, it's a Northeastern thing.

AND YOU know this -- HOW?:D:p

Cuz that was the 70s and he's OLD!!! :D 😁:D:rolleyes:

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 40°. Might warm up to 50° today, mid-60's Monday but with rain. Looks like winter will hit here next Friday night with a low in the teens.

Not much of anything yesterday except the same old household chores due to the rain Thursday night. There is still some standing water around because I failed to reestablish the runoff pathways last summer. Just too hot all season. Today will be no better, dishwasher needs to be emptied and it's Epiphany so the Christmas decorations will start to be removed. Tree is tomorrow. But I will get out the totes today. Caught two rats out by the woodpile last night, so disposal this morning. I got another trap on the Thursday grocery trek and set them side by side...I guess that seeing one of their companions caught in the adjacent trap meant nothing to the second one. That's six this week. I might just have to see about getting a "barn cat" from the shelter.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I diverted my attention for what will be a couple of days. While moving the trains out of the staging yard, I noticed a few that were a bit dusty. So I looked at the cleaning log and realized that the last deep cleaning (other than tank cars) was in 2018. So as I move complete trains back into the yard, I am cleaning and inspecting each car one at a time. Yesterday I did 39 freight cars and 3 engines. I had to make repairs on two steel coil cars, both needed reattachment of the 3" grab rails that ran along the sides of the coil covers. One was completely missing, and the other I knocked off while handling. Today I will paint the new one that I made.

The car inspection part entails checking coupler height and coupler action; and looking for any missing parts. Other than the missing grab bar on the coil car, all was OK with the cars that I did yesterday. I still have 4 air brake reservoirs that I have found over the past few years that I am still looking for a home for. However they were all found on the upper level and these cars are on the lower level.
Just to keep the grain elevator/cemetery project going, I did finish the second grain delivery pipe and started on the third "extra long" one. It's the one between the elevator head and the building itself.

Todd - I don't think that we have ever run out of TP. Wife starts panicking when the stash gets down to 10 rolls and I have to buy another 30-pack at Target. She had me put it on the list last week, and when I went to put the new package in to storage, I noted that we still had 14 rolls left!
Troy - Re: PepsiCo' profits. I often wonder who the "industry analysts" are who make these projections; and how much we should really listen to them.
Chris, Mike - Although I haven't seen any recent Bachmann locomotives, I understand that they have upped their game significantly. Their stuff is presumably on par with Walther's MainLine now.
Tom O - How did the LP surgery go?

Everyone have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

I love Cream Soda, but I have never seen a sugar free version. I would try that!
The Sugar Free A&W Cream Soda is a big mover at the Kroger that I go to. It has a decent shelf space and it always seems low when I go. I asked the delivery guy about it once and he said that it sold much better at my location than the other 2 Kroger stores in town.
The reason that I asked him was because the packaging is quite similar to the Sugar Free A&W Root Beer and I accidentally was putting some in my basket when I realized what I was doing. I am not a cream soda fan so it was good that I discovered my mistake then and was able to switch them back.
