Just read that David Crosby, co-founder of the Byrds; and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; died today at age 81 of unpublished causes. RIP
I read complications from Covid

from Showbizz411

Shock: it’s the end of Crosby, Stills, and Nash as David Crosby has died at age 81. His wife says he had a long illness but he kept it to himself. Crosby was a regular presence on Twitter until recently. (Actually his most recent Tweets were yesterday.)

Sources tell me Crosby died from COVID. He was most likely vaccinated, but may have had co-morbidities.

Yeah but it is not claiming to be a cheesesteak. So the confusion is why it is an imitator when its not claiming to be one (cheesesteak) :) Its claiming to be a pizza in cheesesteak style. Not trying to draw this out. I just found it interesting!

Cheers
Seriously, a cheesesteak pizza, is sacrilegious in Jersey...even though many shops offer them for tourist and unitiated. It's more acceptable to enclose the cheese steak in a Calzone, or Stromboli... ;) People living outside the Metropolitan area, just don't understand... Not for nothing, Margarita Pizza and Hawaiian Pizza, are equally sacrilegious. True Tomato Pies are getting scarce except maybe in Trenton. True tomato pies only have a sprinkling of Parmesan.
Ever try an Italian Hot Dog? Mostly available in the Corridor, between Trenton and Newark. ;)

Good evening, all. Did a small grocery run, larger curbside tomorrow.
In the train room - I planted a few trees, replaced a few spindly looking ones as well.
Thought I would share some track side photos:

A look at the sidings for the mercantile, left front, and the Apple Ridge Rail Services warehouse on the right.

All this talk of Pizza... May have to do something about it. I know Dominos is considered by some to not be real pizza (and I am not making any claims), I think I have enough points there to get a free 2-item pizza (from buying lunch pizza for when I hired out work last Fall to my BIL and his SIL or when I bought pizzas the framing crew once and the concrete crew). Maybe I'll have to look into it tomorrow or Saturday.

I did eat out twice today (not normal for me). Taco Bell (I know, I know...) is having double points this week so I got the "double steak grilled cheese burrito" which is awesome and one of their afternoon $1 drinks. Got enough points (doubled) to push me into another free reward. Then I had a $5 off birthday coupon (today is not the day and I am not saying when) from Cafe Rio, a fast service casual Mexican grill in the mountain west and pacific NW if I understand it correctly but originally from here in Utah. And they also had 3x points in their rewards system so I took the wife and daughter tonight (and got a takeout burrito for my son who is at work at UPS loading trucks this evening). The 3x points got me $20 in rewards (when added to my existing points I aleady had -- by themselves they were worth about $15 but you auto redeem them in blocks of 100 points for $10 credit you can bank). I had the Carne Asada Beef Burrito. Carne Asada is a short time special meat they have periodically available but I had never had it so I tried it. It was pretty good but I think their fire grilled steak, my usual, is better. They normally put their special rice and beans (pinto or black) inside with a good helping of meat (beef, pork in a couple styles, chicken, salmon, fire grilled chicken, fire grilled steak) and cheese inside and 1 of 4 sauces -- a mild tomatillo, a medium green hatch chili, a hot red, or extra hot habanero. You can also pay $1 for enchilada style, where they put sauce on top with extra cheese and run it through the overhead cooker thingy. I got it enchilada style with habanero sauce inside and red hot sauce on top. It is not terribly hot but has a good warmth. Its a good combo. It was pretty delicious. They serve it with a side of lettuce and pico salsa...

I know, I am a sucker for eating out with rewards points... I tend to only go to Cafe Rio when they have a special 3x or 4x points day. If we go without extra points I end up using my reward credit. I'm noty usually going to pay full price and not get extra points :). I am also a sucker for special deals at Taco Bell. Some weeks I am in there more than once and then I'll go a few weeks without going in but one of the main managers knows me by name now...

Hey as long as you’re happy who are we to dish your food choices? I have never been to Taco Bell but have been tempted, maybe more so after reading this. Thanks

I'm comfortable with my food choices so dish away!

I may not be as comfortable in my pants however... For that reason I have been trying to limit the "eating out".
Hey, eating out is an American past time.

I had brunch out at 10:30am today JUST because I felt guilty I hadn’t gone anywhere since 1/9. Got to keep the economy moving! Besides I didn’t have any eggs at home to make a good breakfast. Tomorrow I will buy 12 eggs as part of the grocery run for $6.50 on sale. Wow, that would have been cheaper then the $36 I spent on brunch for 2.

Yes it is an American past time. And 1/3 of American are overweight. Me among them. But I agree, we got to keep the economy moving. That is a great reason for me to rationalize it. (This is all in good fun -- its late and so I am more free on the keys than I should be 🤣 )

I've gotten lazy and used to grabbing a bite out more often than I should. Today was abnormal in that I went out twice (and I'm not traveling or on vacation) but it is all too easy for me to spend the money. It's too easy to do with food places on every corner.

I hope brunch was good. It's fun to eat out once in a while.

Taco Bell breakfast is actually pretty good if you need something quick and inexpensive. The Breakfast Crunchwrap is actually sublime (steak is my preference). Something about eggs, potato hash brown, steak, cheese, and taco sauce folded in a soft tortilla and then grilled... But not for carb counters like I am supposed to be doing so I haven't been out for breakfast there in a while. Taco Bell also has their exclusive Mountain Dew flavor Baja Blast (lime based) including in a no sugar version.

I am supposed to be working but it's easier to type in the forum.

What is an Italian hotdog? I love hotdogs, but I'm picky. All meat like Oscar Mayer is my favorite. Esskay was my favorite. I don't like New York street-vendor hotdogs, they are usually boiled beef. I only like beef hotdogs cooked on the grill.

I never had an Italian sausage I liked.

My well-informed late sister told me some of the best Italian tomato sauces come from New Jersey. The sauce my wife prefers to buy is Delgrosso sauce, from New Jersey.

I used to get a pizza steak sub with mushrooms from Pizza John's.

No fruit, or barbeque anything on my pizza please! Cheese and pepperoni are what I like.

Yesterday my wife and I each had a MacDonald's quarter pounder with cheese. We love it and it's fast when on the road. Buy one for $5.09 and get a second for $1. We always go for the deals!

Morning all,

26° and dark currently, moving to mostly light and a high of 50° later today. Overnight and into tomorrow we're expecting a rain\snow mix with possible accumulation of an inch or so.

We got to stopping point yesterday afternoon. I stayed and am in this morning. Hurry up and wait is the hardest part....Love the overtime though.

Hey, eating out is an American past time.
What is an Italian hotdog?
Problem with eating out...(whether Mickey D's or a Five Star restaurant and anything in between)...is the high sodium count of their fare. Not to mention peoples obsession with cheese on everything. Sodium is not heart healthy, and lactaid intolerance is a problem for many. If one takes the CDC and advocacy groups seriously, the US has an Obesity epidemic, a Diabetes epidemic, and a high rate of heart disease. Eating out or takeout generally involves consumption of high sodium, high fat foods.

BTW: I haven't had a sub, pizza, (other than Dgiorno's), or steak, (other than home made no cheese), since before the pandemic shut down. Now, we have discontinued high sodium quick meals and canned soups as well. Since late October, 2022, my weight has dropped from 202 to 163, mainly due to discontinuing high sodium content and water pills, so there may be some truth to what the CDC and others pontificate.

Italian hot dog, is a couple of grilled hot dogs, with peppers and onions and Marinara sauce on an Italian roll....sort of a sausage and peppers knockoff. Used to get them at "Big Blue's", next to the train station in Linden. (Linden also hosted several great Polish restaurants back in the day).

Food is a personal choice, I have strong preferences about food. My choices, over time, have been limited by fate, more than change in taste.
I'm now concerned that I'm losing too much weight, but my numbers are within the "normal" range for my height. And, I am eating three squares, so, I'm not starving myself. Your experiences may vary...

In my humble opinion, I was never impressed with some of his song writing or lead vocals. But as a group member playing rhythm guitar and singing harmony vocals, he had no peers.

I agree. Stephen Stills was the best songwriter of the three, in my opinion, as well as the best musician... and I, personally, love Stephen Stills' voice.

Didn't Crosby pen a couple of the Birds' most popular songs, like Mr. Tambourine Man, and Turn, Turn, Turn? It seems like once he joined up with Stills and Nash, his songwriting suffered.. like he was trying too hard to be the "protest" songwriter. And the whole "almost cut my hair today" song that, for the life of me, I have no idea why people think that song is anything other than garbage is beyond me.

But, he was influential, in his own way, so we have to acknowledge that. I just wish he would have focused on music and less on his out of control ego.

GREETINGS fellow Model Railroaders!
41f degrees heading towards 59f for a high under partly cloudy skes. It raining again las night, but I cannot find any record of it other than everything being wet? A typical rain shower for here lasting several hours but not heavy.

Not awake so not coherent without some (lots) of java.
Generally, I haven't found a food that I don't like, however some more than others.

Well I am back in the office again today. Drove in the messy weather and traffic. Amazingly I only saw one truck off the road going north bound as I was traveling south bound. He did a 180 in the ditch. Looking all badazz with his big o'l tires thinking he was invincible lol. NOT! He messed up his driver side of the truck. Laid it right in the ditch on an angle on it's side lol.

Last night was a weird evening I was dealing with keeping the ice/slush off my driveway as I was afraid it may be a problem freezing. I did cook up a good steak meal for sure. I will postpone my Thai dinner tonight for tomorrow night. I think I may go out tonight with my nephew, wherever he wants to go.

So I didn't have a chance to work on my 3 locomotives like I wanted last night. As I was taking care of other things. Maybe later tonight. I think I will close the office again early at 3:30 PM. I have 2 packages coming in today. Hopefully they don't get too wet with this weather we are having. I got a great deal on Intermountain 2 bay hoppers. 5 of them from one seller. Then I got one older style 2 bay hopper from another seller by Atlas. This will conclude purchases of 2 bay hoppers for me with one exception. If I come across any MKT or BKTY hoppers I will grab them.

The other day I was at Lowes and got me this handy dandy tool for the layout. I have been thinking about elevating a portion of one of my 2 mainlines so I thought to get one of these. Normal price I think it's 19.99 but it was on sale for 14.99 a while ago but I missed that. So I paid 19.99 plus tax. I did try it out and it works as it should! It measure degrees for angles etc. I saw another model railroader using this on his FB post and he shared this device. pretty cool.

Taco Bell.......well I try to avoid all fast food restaurants but I am guilty on popping in one once in a while. I love tacos but not from there. I do like their chicken quesadillas though. I rather go to a mom n pop restaurant that makes tacos, fajitas etc.

A week from tomorrow I will be on the road to the train show......ya I know I keep mentioning it. I need to get out and get away for a bit so I am looking forward to it!

Well ya'll have a good day and be safe if you are dealing with the inclement weather.

That seems like a great price for a handy tool. I wonder how accurate the "inclinometer" apps are for phones these days? There are several apps, but I have no clue how accurate they are.
