Afternoon All,

Spent about 4 tedious hours applying shingles to the freight house sub-roof. I decided to apply the shingles with transfer tape instead of white glue. Each have their challenges, but with glue you tend to get dried glue on top of the shingles. The black voids are where structures sit. Tomorrow the low is supposed to be 30-32 F.

Willie- Nice looking buildings. Unfortunately, the GP30 is about 10 years too new for me. Maybe it should be fortunately?

Sherrel- I used to have frequent back pain issues while working in EMS (frequent heavy lifting). This is the first time in 7.5 years I have had an issue (since retiring).

Joe- That's a lot of snow.

Ken (IL)- Good luck to your grandson and his team.

Smudge- Video?

Of course, it will be weathered and have a ridge cap put on it.

I hope everyone has a good night.
Yeah, I want to do a video, have to work out how though, did one on my phone weeks ago, but the site doesn't recognise the format, so won't upload. I'll work it out eventually :)

I was going to take some photos of the steps I made for my caboose project, but I can't find my camera. I placed it some where and have no idea where? I can't ring it like my phone. That's why as soon as this caboose project is finished the whole place gets cleaned up. I just remembered my phone has a camera.

I looked at different caboose steps and it seems that the Pennsy has the smallest caboose steps. I have a Conrail caboose that seems like it was a Pennsy so I when with that model mainly because they're the easiest steps to make.

I pre-ordered it today around 12:00 Noon. -Greg
OK, that makes it around 6pm our time, so unless they have an automated reply system, which they might not, you won't get a reply till Monday. If your worried about it, cancel through PayPal, and maybe email them on Monday, see if you get a response.

I've just Googled the name, but didn't find anything Railway related in the Czech Republic, not that that means anything.
If it's any consolation, I've ordered stuff from both Czech and Poland, their pretty above board.

You've reminded me, I ordered some new gears, for my GP38, from Express Models in the US on the 16th, according to USPS, a custom form has been filed, but their still waiting for the package ????

I think that Greg was referring to the ScaleTrains GP30, not the Model Scenes scenery.

Curt: I hear ya...circa 1962. So it's coming with Train phone, instead of Radio...I'll wait till round two. The Bowser RS3s in PRR are a sellout. The next round, due in about a year, are 1966 numbers, Keystones and Radio.. Perfect for me. Pennsy still sells! Lets put it this way, This could get expensive.

My son is interested in the CSX GP30 Slug. They just replaced the ones running on the St Lawrence Division, between Syracuse and Messina, NY. That's 60 years service folks...30 as a diesel, and 30 more as a slug with control cab.

Ok, we survived the snow. How much did we get? My snow thrower stands 16" off the ground, and in places on my driveway, the snow was higher.
The sidewalk, the full width of the driveway, the apron, and a width into the street. Snow thrower worked very well. We also cleared 3' around the fire hydrant. They will not have a problem hooking up, if needed. Only problem...the plow hasn't been through for a good while, and only one lane is clear. Hopefully, they will be back, even though that means I will have to re do the apron... Right now, the wind is really howling... heat's on almost constantly, but the house feels cold. Supposed to go down to 7°f overnight, but that's cold for what's loosely defined as Coastal Jersey.

Meanwhile, In the train room, I disassembled a module, cut a 1/8" hardboard back drop for another, and tacked it in place. Tomorrow, I will attach back supports, and slide the module into place. I plan on using the salvaged dimensional lumber on other projects.

So, over all, a good day. BTW, the extended forecast calls for temperatures above 50°, next Wednesday and Thursday, before it gets cold again next weekend.

Well I made it back! I drove to the blizzard and made my destination!

West Springfield had in some areas up to 10 inches of snow but it seemed to me more like 6 to 8....it was windy as heck though and it was hovering around 13 degrees.

My return trip was improving as I left the area with a nice sunset to enjoy around the low mountains. I will post (2) new threads. One for the pics of what I saw at the show including the unveiling by Shane Wilson of Scaletrains presenting the GP30s. Then some weathering example, loads, layouts and scenery etc. The 2nd thread will be the results of a crazed man foaming at the mouth......arrrrgh no........the loot and booty this pirate got from the show! Some great finds and deals.

My thoughts first on the attendance....I was there by opening bell 9am.... I left my house at 6:30am. It was a slow start in the morning with people coming in slow and some vendors still setting up as well. At about noon time things started to pick up in full swing. Now I have been to this show 8xs. I felt like the vendors were down below norm by 25% so it felt like that was the case. As for attendance it increased as the day went by. I suspect tomorrow will be a back to normal attendance if not above normal due to people not making it today.

I found it adventatious for me that the attendance of the patrons was low for a couple of reasons. Less exposure to unsuspecting people with possible COVID etc. More time to get around to all of the vendors looking for deals that were more available. The vendors were lowering their prices to get more sales going. Wait until you see some of my deals I got. I stayed until the end 5pm wandering around after dropping some cash looking at the operating layouts as they were very impressive. Most enjoyable to see so many creative sceneries.

All in all a good day.

Currently its 5 degrees and going down to negative 3 degrees.

See ya on my other threads that I am about to upload........

My homeward bound scenery this evening after leaving the show.....
