Consider how rapidly the forecast has deteriorated... I better get to work on the snow thrower this morning... Note this is Jersey where crazy things happen...

Good Morning All. Clear and 31° here, the Weather Underground guy down the road is off-line this morning, so we're using my back porch thermometer today. My remote one broke and I haven't replaced it yet. No snow here, but interestingly the radar shows snow about 250 miles away in SW Texas, just west of San Antonio/Austin. Still looking at near 70° tomorrow and Sunday, back to moderate until Wednesday night with temps in the teens for a couple of days. Still better than those minus temperatures that many of you are reporting.

Uneventful grocery trek yesterday. A few more empty shelves than last week, and the prices were definitely higher again. Gasoline however was still below $3.00/gallon, and I had enough gas points for a further 70¢ reduction.

I'll get the A1C measurement checked next Wednesday when my regularly scheduled appointment comes up. The last four have held steady at 5.8, the daily blood sugar measurements have stayed in the 108-129 range for most of the last three months. I had a 169 one day because I may not have taken the Metformin the night before. Reducing carb intake did the trick for me; I never consumed much sugar or sweets to begin with. My doc says 140 carbs/day and keep the blood sugar below 150. Fortunately I have not gotten to the insulin stage.

Thanks to all for the likes and comments regarding the pictures of some of my population; OB Ken, Jaz, Patrick, Tom O, Karl, Steve J, Sherrel, Hughie, Joe, Justin, Louis, George, Curt, Mikey, Tom, Gary, Rick.

Eggs over easy and a handful of bacon today Flo. Yesterday's banter scared me away from the Mexican stuff today!

Out in the train shed yesterday afternoon was really just a continuation of the past few. More ground cover and the last of the ballast that I plan for now. Moving on to trees and bushes next. I don't remember taking any photos yesterday, but if I did, I left the camera out there and I don't feel like getting dressed and going to get it. I also ran a few trains because I just like to.
So here's just a few random photos.

Karl - Happy Birthday from someone who has already been there!
Excellent scene yesterday.
Jaz -
Nothing wrong with tight pants,in fact it stops tits talking photos of your underwear with their phones
Simple answer, just don't wear any like Brittany Spears.
Greg - On-line banking - Here with our small town bank, I just went inside and sat with a bank officer who did the setup from her desk for me in about ten minutes.
Hughie - Yep! Portion control. Losing weight was easier when I cut out thirds at suppertime. I am working on seconds now, with limited success.

Everybody have a great day. Be safe and stay warm.

Good morning. 29° and cloudy, looks like Snoooooo!

Sherrel: Easy there fella, See what the Doc has to say...Take care of yourself. Prayers, of course.

Karl: Heard a rumor that it's your birthday...so Happy Birthday!

Priority 1 today: Prepare the snow thrower.
Priority 2 today: Finish the end module, and paint the backdrop.
Priority 3: Take a nap ;)

Morning all,

Already been to PD this morning. They called at midnight due to a battery backup for a computer squealing. I told them to shut everything down and I'll be there first thing in the morning. It was on a non-emergency use computer and could wait. So It's done and then I came back to the office, where I feel behind my time on everything.

Gonna be an off weekend as I'm not really supposed to go anywhere. I'll probably start some laundry and take a nap this afternoon as I really didn't sleep good on the couch. Especially after a phone call. Woke this morning 5 minutes before the alarm went off with a muscle cramp in my leg. Not sure where those are coming from, but becoming more frequent.

Karl: Happy Birthday. 🎂 🥳 Hope it's a good one 16 days until I catch up.

Try to BBL.

Morning fellers. Light snowfall here in the hollers. Not supposed to amount to anything. I started working on the geeps. One I did up earlier this week. Still under performs. So I'll have to bring it back up and have a look see at it. I think the axle bushings are falling behind the pick up plates on the trucks. It will come to a crawl out of a turn. I ran into this during the cleaning process. May have to get creative with it. Been too cold to do much of anything. Tonight won't be much better. I had hoped to start the new bench work by now. The cold temps have kept me upstairs for the most part. Next week looks to warm up some so we will see what happens. That's all I have for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

Happy Birthday Karl! 🎂🍻

'Morning folks!

Well looks like the storm tracker for the north east is still on.....I have been watching it closely.

As crazy as it may seem it looks like the bulk of the system and heavier snow is south enough of Springfield, Mass it still a go for me. I think we will get at least 10 inches but not 18 inches. I will plan to be there earlier in the morning. The worst of the system will be mid afternoon and evening in my opinion. This won't bother me. I will take my time and go slow on my return home. I will stop at Chick-Fil-A for dinner on the way out! Being a Saturday I got time to work with it. But having said that I will still monitor it all the way up until I leave the house of course in the morning. If the trucks are plowing all night and early morning it should be fine to stay on top of it. We shall see. I will be going down the "North way" I-87 south to pick-up I-90 East (Massachusetts Turnpike) to exit 51 (old exit 4), I-91 South to Route 5 South, to Route 147 West to the Eastern States Exposition - Home of the Big E. pretty much a straight shot......not a lot of back roads or anything like that.

I will check back in later tonight or this afternoon.

Patrick - I read your post above about the morning muscle cramps.

For a while I was waking up during the night, stretching out my legs and getting a cramp. Often in slightly different places, foot, calf, other lower leg muscles. I found that if I drink a glass of water, they always go away.

If I feel like I didn't drink much during the day, I will drink one before bed to prevent them. Not sure why but it works for me.

I'll give it a try. Still feeling it in the calf muscle.

I'll give it a try. Still feeling it in the calf muscle.
My mother had to deal with leg cramps due to the anti-rejection drugs she's on following her transplant. While that's probably not your issue, the docs tracked it back to low potassium. Eat a banana every few days.

When the leg cramps really bothered her, she put a clean dry bar of soap under her bottom sheet down by her legs where the cramps were. Something in the idea worked.

Mom came to visit us for a week. After she left, my wife stripped the bedding off the guest bed, and couldn't figure out why we had a bar of soap there. ;)

What's a tent, only had what we needed for the Op, tent wasn't a necessity, had enough shit to carry.
Oi it’ll be a cardboard box in the middle of the road soon…..
my other half did not away as a techie, with the helicopter lads, his mates were peed they took him with an injured ankle rather than a fit tech cos they would rather have someone who knew what they were doing,he said the skiing or trekking on skis so like walking on skis was not fun with his ankle, but the lads were impressed as his made sure all their kit worked and not just the stuff that was his job,but he did not get all the snow kit a number of bits he was in greens and he said he was lucky no one was shooting cos he would have been in trouble, and he was told he better not wreck any of the snow kit, some lads took green and never unpacked the snow kit so they could hand it back pristine, we paid out for a charcoal hand warmer and he said it was worth its weight in gold, and he wished he could have had the kit we have now as civvies,we own some minus 30 deg c clothes, and I suspect they work cos wear them here and walk or work in our minus 6 deg tops and you break out in a sweat together with a rainproof I’m thinking he could have passed on a tent, luckily his kit was so heavy he had pack mules um I mean squaddies carrying sone of his kit.

Happy birthday Karl.

Good morning Crew from So. Central Wisconsin. Decent temperatures up to 18f degrees today into the high teens at 2pm when the plunge begins. Frigid is the Weather guessers term on TV.

I am down to 18 pulp wood cars after the last sales yesterday. Inventory was at 50 but when I started adding pulp loads to the sale, they moved very quickly. No more branches though to make pulp sticks and I have to venture into the woods. $50 + $8.00 for shipping for a loaded medium to heavy weathering pulp car with the standard Walthers coupler but steel wheels added. Surprised I was by how quick they moved. Happy though because I was worried when the non loaded pulp cars didn’t sell at $40.

I am looking to buy some backdrops both for the layout and one wall of the slot car track for the kids. I am thinking slot cars 1st to make sure I truly like them. I may pull that trigger today.

Enjoy the day
TomO

Definately not one of those boys, but the chopper pilots did an amazing job of getting us in where we needed to be in the bundocks.

The storm seems to be fizzing out as it is heading more due east out to sea! Woo hoo!
James: That's because you are pretty far inland. ;) Locally, the hypesters keep upping the anticipated total accumulation by the forecast... Enjoy the show!

We went to the Acme around 0900 this morning. The panic was on...all we needed was shreddies, and yogert. Found an 18 pack of fresh eggs, on sale. Took 30 minutes to check out.. While walking across the parking lot, observed several incidents of bumper cars, as everyone wanted to be the first to leave the shopping center.

Gas station were funny, Wawa, with the highest price $3.39 was the most crowded. The Conoco, Quick Chek and Exxon @ $3.33 were almost deserted. Guess they are showing they can afford it, eh?

The mail guy delivered the February Railroad Model Craftsman this morning. Looks pretty good content wise.

If you're curious as to where I'm going here, I have some nice Tangent gondolas that need loads and purpose.

PRR G 28 with cover, (Bobs Photos), Contrary to my first impression the cover is three distinct sections. Used to carry "cold" coils, more prove to weather damage. Another modeling challenge, as there is no known model of this relatively small class available, per my source. Based on photos, it is possible tomodify an Athearn BB 50' covered gondola to vaguely resemble the prototype...

Well, howdy there internet people, and those who can sing Fortunate Son word for word.

It's Troy again. Today, lets talk about snowstorms and bread in a can

But first... MIL is doing fine. Wife and local sis are working to keep the fire lit under her bum (No, no flaming hot chilis were ingested). If they don't keep on, MIL will get comfortable back home, and start the hospitalization cycle all over again.... Meeting with the auction house/realtor/senior relocation service next week. Just a prelim. My spousal unit is comfortable with their service due to them helping dispense of Aunt's belongings post funeral. MIL liked their service enough then to request the girls get that set up again.

No dates yet. Just keeping the wheels moving on the relocation train for MIL

And, our author facebook feeds found a gent up in Alaska with this on his Costco shelf. Just waiting to be consumed.

Evidently, this is a New England thing. Some said it's good with Pork-n-Beans.

I don't recall ever eating this. My wife asked if it was leftover from military C-rations.

Does this fly off the shelves in the NE of the US when bad weather warnings are out? Is this the snowstorm staple?

Should I look for it at the local midwest grocery?

Or, is my wife's assessment more accurate?

Good morning all! It's a cold windy day here in H-Town. The wind certainly has a bite. They are predicting some nice weather over the weekend. Maybe the wife and I can get out for little bit.
Flo, pancakes and sausage please, coffee.

Karl - Happy Birthday
James - Sounds like you will make it after all. Do keep a weather eye out.
Willie - Portion control, so hard, especially with certain foods. You know you shouldn't, but it just tastes so go, one more!
TomO - That sure sounds like a neat side hustle. Doing something you really enjoy and being able to make a few bucks as well.
Sherrel - Hope all goes well at the doc.

STAY SAFE
LATER
