Welp... that was fun

Had a slightly runny nose before bed. Didn't seem bad enough for a sinus pill, though.

Woke up once full of sinus pressure, not breathing through my nose type. As in jerked awake, can't breathe! Opened mouth, can breathe. Oh, yeah. That's how that worked.

blew nose, went back to bed.

Woke up an hour later with acid reflux. Took tums. This doesn't feel like AR. Hmmmm....?

That's when the night sweats hit. Spent a long time in the loo. Sipped ginger ale throughout the sweating which lasted an hour-ish, then I was just cold. Hit the recliner, aimed the space heater at me (it's low, so the breeze goes under the footrest and warms the chair from the bottom up.) Even with an afghan and the cat, I was still chilled.

I looked at the clock about 2am. Still chilled. Couldn't find a knob on the cat to turn his temp up. Shrugged and went back to sleep.

Woke up at 3:30 flipped to the other side in the recliner. Still chilled.

When I woke at 5:30, I was no longer cold. The chair is warm. However, I'm warmest because the symptoms are gone.

So, I'm sipping ginger ale and just turned the heater off. I'll do the forehead temp thing once I acclimate to room air temps. I don't trust the zapper temp guns if I've been too cocooned and the heater blowing on me.

So... I'm tracking symptoms. Probably going to isolate for 5 days just to be sure. Too bad the covid tests are so scarce. It would be nice to know. Yes, I'm triple vaxed.

Good thing I have a freezer full of frozen pizza, and other leftovers. Sherril better hold off on flying up her for a pizza. Let's make sure the Omi is long gone.
Sorry. To hear your unwell, plenty of fluids, in and out, stay warm, take care.

Willie, I have not been keeping up on the news. Was that the Baltimore PD gun trace task force? They have been under investigation for some time. If its something new, I won't be surprised.
Corruption is a dirty, not so secret problem in many aspects of the city government. We had a mayor that stole gift cars intended for underprivileged kids, at Christmas! Need I say more?
All my years in business I have only sold to the city on a handful of occasions, when they were desperate. My experience has been, to sell anything to the city you have to grease somebody's palm. I refuse to do business that way.

It is my sincere hope that every single lying, dirty politician or civil servant go to jail!
No ‘love’ emoticon is not for the cheating ploiticians but your comment that you wish someone would jail them

That's tough to deal with. I have stopped volunteering things like that long ago. I imagine though if I was to do it for money that would be a different story but then again no fun in that either. I hope you are able to explain it to him and he understands. Good luck. Time.... as we get older is a commodity that become priceless as I am learning. I am always rearranging my priorities constantly for life adjustments. Be you and be happy.
The problem is they are happy to have you, and blame you,and expect you to perform miracles, and when they mis remember the good advice you gave and they ness up it is o bviously your fault, sad to say helping people for free is usually a d I s aster darlings.

Then I have to start removing the pagan holiday decorations. Yuletide is officially over. My strategy of waiting on the wife to do it isn't working this year. ;) since she's staying with her mother.
Troy- you are not alone with the holiday decorations being still in the house and not in the attic where they belong at this time of the year.
I have all the outside decorations down and returned to the attic. The Christmas tree is bare of ornaments, but still providing cover for the cats to hide under. At my advanced age, it is taking about 4 times longer to put up decorations than to get them down from the attic.
Time to trudge up the stairs with a couple containers and then on to removing decorations from the living room tree.
Then time for a nap!

I've checked on the DCC Forum as well, hasn't posted anything for the last 3 weeks, so........?
Pity, I actually liked his layout's 🙂
Well they often left others with a feel good situation,
either you were in the same boat, and someone was willing to admit it
you had a better layout
you were in a position to feel confident offering advice,
plus he had a sense of humour and did not mind someone poking him,
as you say shame, he was usually a positive influence.

I'm hearing some are getting snow! We have near 3' in the backyard, and 6' drifts where I've shovelled. So I'm not feeling sorry for you. It is winter, after all. I secretly chuckle when I hear someone complaining about 3" worth.

Yesterday, I mostly rested after the weeks baby-sitting duties. Today, I hope to be more active.
I did visit the store for some pavement and walkway paint:

I mean to use custom mixtures of those paints to do the asphalt and sidewalks. The charcoal will be lightened for the asphalt, and the country grey is already very near the concrete foyea color on the hardware store. So, I just need to play with that a-bit.
Here is my test paper of the paints:

I'm using rolled sandpaper for the layouts paved streets. The 150-grit is rough, but, it hides very well under the paint.

I've primed and glued down a strip on my first module. The street is out front, so the G-kids can easily play with their dinky cars. Here's the set-up:

I'm going to paint the asphalt today. I also plan to re-work the sidewalk, and hopefully paint it. The hardware's parking lot sidewalk needs a curb.

Then, I might still have time to do more depot work.

Thankyou for all the likes on these simple posts.
Curt - Thanks for the kind comments! I had a look at the REA building on the fosscale site. That is going to be a wonderful building, and you are doing a masterful job so far. Please keep posting the progress photos.

Willie - The kids arn't so bad, really! I just thought I was done that business after raising four of my own. So, I do alot of complaining; but, I also dedicate myself to the children's care. That means no modelling for me, while I'm on duty. - The barn looks like a nice kit. I've always wanted a barn, with some land under it. Had too many kids, though, to be able too afford a nice spread.

I suppose I'd better get on with it! Have a good one!

I've never found peppers to be good on pizza. When they bake, their juice/flavour permeates every minute bit, every granule, every drop of the cheese.

My mother used to want everything on her pizza, and we couldn't do 1/2 our way, and 1/2 her way. I could still taste those dang peppers.

So, she gets her own pizza every time wife and I go visit.

Just heard from wife that she's at the beginning of a sore throat. Not sure if it's because they've been stirring up dust, or if she was exposed. Just have to wait and see.

When christian had a problem on my the forum I mod on he asked for help to get the account reset, and gave me an email address to help him, anyway I just sent it a message saying people are asking after him, I do wonder and hope if he sees this he will not be upset if he has a forgetful issue, my uncle who I love has early onset dementia and he can ring you, ring o f forget he rang you and ring back, when you point it out poor thing disappears at speed, but he is a lovely gentleman, and this things are something you just cope with. anyway I wondered if Christian has an issue with say the password, or if he loses his latest history, struggles to refund us,anyway I posted him, we will see.

Until this year I never thought about the ease of putting the decorations not the taking them down,no one else is interested and a 8foot electric tree was too big for me to move,it was left, hopefully next year we will be back to normal, all decorations are in the loft, always take a search to find as some shifts stuff from where you leave it, still no one moaned about the lack there of, not even a cracker for Xmas lunch.

Last year, I didn't put either any decorations, or a tree, didn't see much point really, Christmas is for the kids.

If he has an issue remembering his logon credentials, all he (or anybody else) needs to do is click the "contact us" button at the bottom of any (every) page, and somebody can give him help. I'm the admin at the railroad forum, but here, I, and everybody except Bob, are moderators, and we can't do much to help.

Good afternoon. It's sleeting heavily, and 21. I started doing the laundry early today, the last load is in the dryer. I hope the power stays on long enough to complete the task.
We have a pair of generators to take over "normal" electrical functions, but the dryer runs on higher voltage than our generators can produce.

Happy Sunday! 24° and very cloudy...By the time the weather occurs, later this evening, it's supposed to warm up to 39°, which means rain. The biggest threat, is the possibility of high winds, overnight, with an on-shore flow.

Not for nothing, Guy, 3" of snow is nothing here either, (unless you are an on camera employee of a TV station). More than six inches is a challenge, if it's the heavy (moisture laden), type, as the snow thrower doesn't handle wet snows well. I don't shovel as well any more.

Other than that, everything is typical Sunday...after lunch, I'm off to the train room.

Well I'm done for the day, got sod all done, no decoder's fitted, didn't even start one of the kits I need to make, no scenery, nowt, nada, nothing,
Spent the entire day looking for the two bottoms for the trucks on the SD9 so I can get it running properly, found two, Lionel GM 50's which will fit, unfortunately there on your side of the pond, and there are not parts, but complete loco's, but even so, this Brit ain't mad enough to pay out the cost of the Loco plus £50 for postage and import tax. Now where did I put that Araldite ? :(

Good Morning all! It's 48 with a "feels like" of 36 here in H-Town. The sun is out and the winds are nowhere like they were yesterday.
Flo, day's special, whatever it is, with coffee.

I think a posted in the August/September time frame about installing a whole house generator. Up until yesterday all I'd ever done was test run the gen. Yesterday we lost electricity, presumably because of high winds. There were reported gusts to 55 mph. So, the lights went out, I started the gen, threw the breakers and we had lights. Our house is total electric, so the real test came when the heater kicked on. We passed a real world test, running for just over 2 hours with no issue. Everything was as if we were on main power. The February freeze last year is what drove us to installing the generator, and now we're confident that should it freeze again we'll be ok. (I didn't think to run a train).

No news from the train room other than I've ordered a Blair Line structure, "Ernie's Gas Station". It should fit very well with the buildings on Bar Mills Row.

STAY SAFE (keep warm)

I seem to remember Athearn GP9s were the same body, only with dual truck drive and flywheels. Maybe you can find one of those on the cheap?
