26 inches of snow on the ground here. I couldn't get out to refill the bird feeders because the snow was 8 inches over my 18-inch boots. The fence in the patio photo is 30 inches high. Also shoveled a path and space for the fuel oil guy. He needs space to work. He better have 30 inch boots for those who don't shovel. Swal

Wow, I'm tired out from dealing with 6".

Wife got about 16 inches of snow so far in Southern NH. More coming Wed and Fri it looks like. Most snow we've had in the Northeast since 2015. She is in a walking boot for her Achilles tendon on her left foot. She did a little of the driveway and side yard at around 3PM so she could walk the dog. Neighbor across the street showed up about an hour ago and did the rest of the driveway. I have great neighbors, we all keep a watch on each other (in a good way, not the creepy/nosey way, LOL)

Speaking of cold places, my refrigerator would always start screaming at me when I don't close the door all the way. When we first got it, I angled it backwards so that it would help itself. Years later when we had issues with the circuit board, the technician took the angle out and made it level. I dealt with it for a few years and finally got fed up with it a few days ago. So, I put a few turns out on the front legs and put just enough to get my bubble to move and the door to close more easily. Reduced the screaming by 80% at least.

Once in a while, I'll pull the fridge out, take the bottom panel off and vacuum out the fan and the heat exchanger. Hopefully it will live a bit longer.

You guys up there in the north tilt your house so that the front door closes? 🤪

If you close the door it won’t scream at you. Just positively close it. 😉

Our refrigerators also make a noise if they don’t close and also send me a notification on my phone. We’re getting better at making sure they’re closed when we close them now.

Today is very angry tree day. I'm not dying like I normally do for some reason.

Tomorrow rain is scheduled and no pollen. Hopeful.

Well, howdy there internet buck-an-ears

It's Troy again.

After five days on this ship, I'm reminded that while I'm having good days at sea, this is not my favorite cruise ship design. The NCL Jewel Class is leaps and bounds above this class.

Usually NCL has a song & dance troupe aboard for at least three shows in a week. They've not advertised such at all on this trip.
Instead we've got a jazz/rock Saxophonist who's doing two shows, a comedy juggler, and a couple of comedians. Wife HATES sax, and other brass. Something about the highs hit hear ears that cause her to wince. She's developing an aversion to piano and harp jazz as well. heavy strings like chamber orchestra and classical are where she's going for most of her listening to mask my snoring.

They've got good lounge musicians, but there are no lounges large enough to hold the "I wanna listen" crowd. The musicians rotate through the lounges, and the one in the grand atrium, with seating on deck 6, as well as bar seating around the "well" on deck 7 are PACKED each night. The smaller lounge have a very exuberant sound tech. I've measured the ambient noise in that lounge and it runs 75-76db.

Here's the duo doing some latin and salsa hits.

That should be down around 87 to peaks at 95. They've got it right at the hearing damage threshold. And being in a big tin can, it does distort. Moreso at that volume.

We did get off in Puerta Plata in the Dominican Republic yesterday. The little fort WAS open.

That tug looked suspicious. I wanted to yell out "CLEAR FRONT! Load Powder!" But they had signs up to prohibit the touching of cannonballs.

Pirates seem to be a theme around here.

Our tour guide, Victor did talk baseball. Says his 18 year old son is being actively scouted by the majors. With a 94mph fastball (if true), it's no wonder. The kid is getting private coaching from one of the DR ballplayers players caught up in a steroid scandall post injury. Can't remember the name. Victor had nice things to say about all the DR ball players, except one. A Mr. Sosa. But he called him by his birth name, not Sosa. Evidently Baseball is in the blood down here.

We're in St. Thomas USVI today. Perhaps TomO will wave at the cruise ships as he flies over us.

OK, I'm out of coffee. Time to go out on deck and get some writing in.

PS: I'm on the pretty ship, not the stark white one.
