When I was working, my weight ran around 155 to 158. Now sitting on my arse all day in winter has bumped that up by about eight pounds. I suspect five of it will go away starting in Spring and will be back to my regular weight by end of summer before the cycle starts again.

I'm just glad it doesn't show and my pants still fit.
I have a body fat/composition check done every year as part of my physical. I was at 14.5% last year and as long as I stay between 15%-20% my Dr. doesn't worry about my weight.

My Dr is part of the MDViP concierge medicine program. I have his personal cell phone and email. I can get same day appointments usually within an hour or two of calling and the annual physical tests include hearing, grip strength, EKG, every possible blood test, body composition, etc. I've been with him for over 20 years, we're the same age (birthdays are 1 day apart), and it's going to suck when he retires this year. I've been spoiled with excellent preventative medical care.

This is what they use for the body composition test.

There used to be a replacement door for my old camera to make it digital, but I dont think they still sell it.
There probably is as I’ve found one for my T70 (actually it’s a roll of “film” with sensor so would probably work with your EOS). The problem is the cost is such that you could buy a new consumer body almost or even definitely. At least the on I saw.

When I bought my Sony a6300 I also bought an adapter that allowed me to use my existing Canon lenses that fit my D20 from around 2005. They worked fine but eventually I just bought a couple Sony lenses (besides the free one).

Fasting: No way I could go 6 days, probably would not make it a whole day. I would be laid out on the floor passed out from lack of nourishment. I have lost a ton of body mass and now I am stick people. Still have a little of that belly fat left, so more activity spring/summer should get that down or gone. On top of that, started a high protein diet to see if I can build that body mass back up. Sure would like to get back to 220/230 with no fat. Now, where did that weight bench go?

This the fat that will put you in the grave.

Visceral fat

ctclibby Visceral fat surrounds your stomach, liver and intestines behind the abdominal wall. When visceral fat levels are high, it puts added pressure on these organs and contributes to chronic inflammation in the body. This inflammation can trigger a cycle of metabolic issues, increasing the risk of conditions like Type 2 diabetes. Visceral fat is also strongly linked to high cholesterol, heart disease and stroke. I have a lot of golf friends you have this and they have multiple health issues. Swal

Wow, speaking of a T70 brings back memories! I had a T70 right after high school, and after my Mom passed I inherited her AE1 and passed the T70 on to my son. Then digital cameras hit the scene. From an Olympus 4mp point & shoot, to a Canon 8mp point & shoot,to my favorite Fuji 14mp Finepix S4500 things sure have changed! I still have the AE1 and several lenses, but I can't see a reason to go back to film.

You actually could. It's not that hard after the first few days.

It's not pure fasting. People drink clear liquids, take olive oil shots, and drink lots of water, and sometimes things like apple slices or other light snack. However, I'm not recommending it. I just mention this as it's easier than you think once you get past your body's habit of eating on a schedule.

What's better for you, even if you're not fat, is the "intermittent fasting" or having a longer break between the evening meal and the morning meal. Eat supper at 5pm and don't eat again until 9am. Or whatever fits your schedule. Studies show that your body is able to better digest and clean up afterwards when you give it that time daily.

Well howdy there internet peeps

It's Troy again. Fortunately, despite a congressional hearing yesterday, I am still not named in the Epstein files.

No catholic nuns in my background. But I did have a John Bircher, Mr. Hoogenboom, as my Govt teacher. He said he was 5 foot-18 in, and wore a size 13 shoe. Graded on a 95% status, but sat and read the test questions aloud and asked us to verbally give the correct answer. Only then did he pass out the test papers. I don't how how anyone got less than an A in his class.

But, his religious studies section of a public school class was more religious than it should have been. My mother was going to complain, and I begged her not to. I was willing to put up with his proselytizing if he kept doing the test read out before passing out the papers.

In other news, got back from getting my ears lowered, a run to the bank to cash a reimbursement check for our medical flex spending, and a stop at the grocery for some Oatmeal Raisin cookies, and more ibuprofen. I'll be sooooo glad when this piriformis is behaving again.

I finished up the writing of a story for the gaming blog this morning. I used ChatGPT assistance in editing it, and I let it expand/revise parts of what I wrote. With proper guidance it did well with the assist.

Wife has to take her mother in for Mac Degeneration shots in about an hour. Of course the wife is getting hit hard at work with stuff to do, right before we go on vacation. Enough so she said she wants good Italian food tonight!

I know when to not argue!

Dinner is usually between 1700-1800 here, and I don't eat until noon the next day. Only if I have work to do like cutting grass or other activity will I have anything for breakfast, and that is just toast with butter and jam.

I found the T70 recently (I had had it at the old house but it got packed when we moved). I hadn't used it in several decades but my daughter just took a film camera class at her high school. They shot black and white film and learned how to develop it and so it was good I had it as she was able to use it in that class...

I bought it when I was called to be a missionary in Germany back in 1985 (I started that work by entering the training center Jan 2 1986). I took a ton of color slides, most of which got lost. I was sending them to my parents as unmounted slides (one of the options you could get when taking it in to be developed -- I chose unmounted as Air Mail back then was expensive and I could send them much cheaper. My parents dutifully didn't even look at them and put them in a box for when I got back. And they got lost. I still have some from the training center and my last couple months. Plus I have slides from the few years after I was done like when I went back to Germany and a European rail tour with Eurail Pass in 1990... Still makes me sad thinking of all the lost pictures from my time in Germany 86-87.

To make matters worse, towards the end I saved the film rolls and brought them back to develop them when I got back. One of the rolls got lost in the mail when I sent it in to one of those "mail order photo" places...

I tried I.F. for a month and it didn't do squat, but did keep me hungry. I eat normal....like a "King" in the morning, like a "Prince" at lunch, and like a "Pauper" at dinner. None of these studies take in the basic concept of Calories In/Calories Out.

If your a high processed, high carb, eating slug you will probably have weight and medical issues.

Genetics and physical activity, again, play a big part.

Thanks to Bob, I got my account back. If you use a hotmail email you can’t get password resets.

It’s another sunny day here. Cold doing pretrips but the sunrise was pretty. In the afternoon we are riding around in the bus and the kids have their windows open.

I was hoping to go skiing on the long weekend but reward/risk analysis (SWMBO) says stay home. It doesn’t bode well for summer.

Body Composition is most of my life at work, I work for a DXA scanner manufacturer. I noted in my intro thread that I was going to be in Indy for two weeks, I'll be setting up, maintaining and de-installing the three DXA scanners that will scan all the candidates invited to the Draft Combine. My other job during the scanning is to get a scale weight on each athlete. Been going since 2018.

Funniest thing about the Combine is that I'm not a football fan, I have a hockey last name. LOL

Good afternoon all, made the mistake of sleeping in the bed last night and man, it is really bad again today.
Anyway, on the subject of forums that are good to visit, I have walked away from many forums that are overrun with arrogant and obnoxious writers. I am glad to have found this one, where even when we have disagreements of opinions, they author's stay polite. Thank you.

It's starting to come back to me now. The one problem I was having was not being able to stop down the lens after a firmware update I did on the camera earlier after I returned from the doctor. I figured that out and a few other settings I had forgotten about. I set the style as nuetral, but I'm not certain I like this. I also don't like the 'vivid' setting and I'm needing something between these two. More photos required.

But the big one was being able to control the aperture for depth-of-field. The last shot is stopped down to f/29 and is on a tripod with a timed delay of the shutter. The shutter speed was about a second so I could not hand-hold the camera and have anything turn out that wasn't blurred.

The first two have different times and settings. But, the difference between the first photo and last is very obvious to me.
