Morning all,

Currently 28° and cloudy, high of 23° later. Possible pop up snow during the day with the main snow event after the sun sets and into tomorrow. It appears that the storm will be quicker moving, so we're now in the 1-3" snowfall range, but the worst is supposed to hit during the morning commute time tomorrow.

Not much going on yet...everyone have a good day!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 39°, maybe swooping up to 44° later on. They have taken the rain out of the forecast for the next 2 days, which was originally in the forecast as late as yesterday. Yesterday's precipitation total was less that a quarter inch.

Crappy day outdoors yesterday, so I continued to file and update all of my photos in the computer. At least I will know where to look, even though I may never see a bunch of them again.
Looking at pretty much the same today, since it isn't going to dry up today without the sun.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with the assembly of the P2K covered hopper. Continued with the underbody. RANT: Why do some kits have you assemble parts that could have just as easily been molded on??? Is it to make you think that it is a higher level of craftsman kit??? The following is an example.
These are the hopper "shaker brackets". Tiny parts that required a lot of trimming.

Could look just as good if molded on.
After I had mounted those two minute hoses, I was ready to install the B-end bolster and platform.
IMG_0333.JPG

The two top holes in the manifold (barely visible here) are for the pipes from the air tank, installed later.
The train line was next.

The hardest part of the train line was cutting it from the sprue and trimming all of the injection overflow thingies; I don't remember what they are actually called. On this part, there are 19 sprue connectors and 11 mold things. Some more parts.

Final assembly of the underside.

Time consuming but it looks good. Of course no one will ever see it because all of my trains tend to stay upright.

Jay - Nice looking station so far. Looking forward to how you finish it off, especially in N scale.
Patrick - What a relief it must be to know that the finger will be fine.
Todd - It's too bad that you have to use softwood for your stove. Lower BTU's and lots more creosote.

Everyone have a great Tuesday and stay warm and dry.

This was in Wolsztyn, Poland. It's called "Steam Fest" ("Parowozjada"), and it generally takes time over a week in late April, or early May. As usuall, there were a few guest steam locomotives from neighbor countries; the leading was a beautiful Czech "Albatross", which recently became available from Märklin in their H0 gauge lineup. There was another Czech loco further down, also an Austrian and a German at the end. I highly recommend a trip there, as you can also ride normally scheduled trains from Wolsztyn to Poznań, or Leszno pulled by steam.

Good morning, all! Very overcast and rain just miles away. The rain is to set in all day. Yesterday we lost power. We were eating breakfast, when the lights went out. Looking at the light company app we were among 18 households without power. About 30 minutes into the blackout I saw a worker with a pole looking in our backyard. I went out and opened the locked gate. He proceeded to throw the breaker on the transformer, nada. He said it need to be replaced. He said they have piece of equipment that they can use. Looking at the app again and we are 1 of 3 without power. An hour later a pickup truck and 2 huge trucks pull up. After they look over the job, the foreman says it will be easier if they take down the fence. I asked about the piece of equipment mentioned by the first guy. Foreman says this will be faster, and they will mat in for a smaller truck. So, they removed the fence, matted in the yard, backed what looked to be a 1 ton bucket truck in, swapped the transformer, removed the mats and re-installed the fence, all in about 45 minutes. It must have been a light day for them as at one point there were 4 of those big pole setting trucks, 2 with trailers, 2 of the smaller bucket trucks and 2 pickups parked alongside the house.

Sadly, no train were run yesterday. So, a throw down pic,

Good (late) afternoon. Flo. I see the Pusser's rum is nearly empty. I'll have what is left. Hope you have more in stock?

It has been a day without water has immediate maintenance has been carried out. Now everything is back to normal and cups of tea can be made.

Grandson is making dinner.

Good mornin' y'all. Its overcast and 2f here in Cheyenne this am. Winds are S @ 14, gusting to 16 creating a wind chill of -18. Looking for a high today of 12 and low tonight of -4. Winter weather advisory in effect until late tomorrow. About 1-2" on the ground now with 1-2" more forecast.

Slept in this morning... well sort of. Up about 3am, couldn't go back to sleep so watched Weather Channel and read some news until about 5, then back in bed. Apparently reading some news put me back to sleep. Looks like everybody who lives in winter weather country is getting just that. Y'all be careful out there.
Still trying to round up new doctors. Seems like nowadays every part of your body needs a separate doc. Our new primary care doc is Nigerian. He's about 6'7", really nice. Said he played some basketball and soccer in his youth but his feet were always in the way. He also assured us he was not a prince wanting our bank account info. Funny guy, but very professional with his doctoring.

Siever's benchwork bundle arrived yesterday. Probably be a while before I get to it. Still waiting for our stuff from the movers.

So, Flo if you would please bring me one of those big a** cinnamon rolls and grande Colombian supremo coffee!
Y'all have good day and take care.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with big feet (and big shoes). And those who still know their maths tables

It's troy again... freshly back from running errands. Since I showered this morning, I've been on the go. First groceries at Meijer. (Big box regional similar to WalMart). Back home, put that away. Figure I'll hit Menards (big box like home depot) and see if they have any ice-melt left. I'm scraping the bottom of the bag. One bag normally does a season. But.... Should have purchased one last week when I saw them.

asked the wife if she needed anything. YES! button batteries for her old Texas Instruments calculator she had in College. That thing is 40 years old and still works. Not a scientific one. Just a regular one with an LCD display.

OK... I'll look.

Menards two of the five things on my list, and only one of her batteries... Needs two I discovered when I got home.

Ate my leftovers for lunch, then headed out to Target (Like Walmart, but the clientele is classier, and probably bathed in the last day.) They had one of the things on my list (Dove Dark chocolates with almonds) but no Ice Melt, and no 76A button batteries.

Across the parking lot is Lowes. Nothing on the list. hardly any button batteries at all.

OK, I'll stop at Meijer again. Batteries are up in the front of the store.

Welp... there were an entire peg of them on the rack. At least a dozen. While I was waiting to check out, wife texted that the first fresh battery made her calculator work again. Doesn't matter. I'll buy the second one.

So her calculator is happy now with two fresh batteries.

I have my chocolates. And the snow might just have to have sit on the path for the delivery drivers after tomorrow. I'm only going to melt the path to get to the garage and ration what little of the snow melt I have left.

Maybe they wanted to be sure they had everything they needed.

Ya never know when you're gonna have to do combat switching.
Snow is coming down pretty good now. A few inches in the past couple hours.
Sittin here just watchin Reels on Facebook and I start smelling something like hot wires. I do a walk around in the house and nothing obvious and the smell goes away.
A bit later the smell is there again. I check some more and go to the heating unit in the basement. The copper coil line to the outside unit is almost too hot to the touch and the air handler squirrel cage isn't running. Hmmmmm, I went outside to check the outdoor unit. It's kinda iced over a bit and buzzing. OK, it's deicing itself. I went and hit the breakers on the indoor unit and let things set for about half hour and set some fans up to cool the heat exchanger off. Turned the breakers back on and all is good now.

Trouble with the lift gate. When I took down my second deck the lift gate became misaligned. It was attached to the upper deck by one support, and I guess that was enough to throw it out of alignment. I tried to fix it but that didn't work so today I replace the track and added a pin on one side to keep in place. I just have to pull out the pin and replace it once I'm inside the layout.
Swal
