Welp... just found the MRR drama... Lionel on A Modeler's Life is doing his usual schtick, but adding some comments bashing Lucy B, the social media manager at the NMRA. Seems to be a repeating pattern with him.

I tried to listen to their podcast several times. Guests drove me to listen, people like Ron from Ron's Trains and things, etc. On their own, Lionel just came across as a bully who thought bullying was funny. I never tried to find any other MRR podcasts after that, because their schtick wore real thin real fast. I like something in my ears to listen to when I hobby, so it was not a good fit for me.

Anyway, MiniFigs is donating a portion of their sales of the Lucy B "MiniMe" figures to the Women in Model Railroading fund. That made me go take a look, and I ended up spending $50 (inc shipping) on figures like Tony K, Gerry L, Ron of RT&T, and, of course, Lucy.

They ended up losing Rapido Trains as a sponsor due to this.

Yep kind of sad that a “biggie” turns out to be such a jerk. I started listening to AML because the main guy was doing good things for cancer research with his yearly walk. But the podcast just was a tough thing to listen to. About 6 years ago one modeler I know announced he was going back on AML. A very good modeler, a true gentleman, smart well voiced and connected to the development of one of the best new products in model railroading. The podcast people but especially the star of the show were completely unprofessional in their questions to him, their conduct and never once in 45 minutes let him give a full response. That was my last show.

Then the Section Section podcast notified their audience about the bullying to Lucy Dormont. I then read Lucy’s Facebook page and I had to join in

#standwithLucy

Lionel’s apology letter was totally insincere and IMO puts him on par with American politicans. Bullying must be stopped and like wild fires only you can prevent it!

Glad I’m not the only one who purchased at Mini prints today.

Flo? If you're in the middle of settling in, don't mind me.
I'll be by the window having late night Chinese from "Bruce Wong's."
There's extra if you want to come out and snack.
Eggrolls don't come in a family pack. 🤣🤣
We have six.
Anyways, the Broake & Howe is sending a rickety wooden boxcar down to the WN&K.
I'm hoping to catch sight of it.
Loaded with miscellaneous items.
Everything from locomotive parts, mechanic tooling, office supplies, M.O.W. manual equipment and God knows what else.
Shop scuttlebutt has it this isn't a charity run.
Broake & Howe bean counters put together their version of a rolling garage sale. 😁
The railroad is being pinched, and cash is king.
It's a one-way trip for the boxcar too.
Package deal. It's so nonroad worthy that it was decided for "Moonlight" delivery.
WN&K is going to sink it in the dirt as storage.
Rehab the trucks and press into M.O.W. service.
B&H RR crew was instructed to uncouple as soon as it rolls onto WN&K trackage.
Pushing it in under a speed restriction.
Should come by during the "Witching Hour."
Why are you only wearing one slipper?

Good morning! It's 28°F in Tipton.

Good morning all. It is raining with more rain to come.
I have been up since silly o'clock making breakfast for daughter and grandchildren before they go to basketball.
Time to relax now and let Flo make me a full English, please.

Some laundry to do later. I like to keep on top of it and not 'pile up'. Dawn say leave it until there is 'a good load' (3 or 4 loads she means.)
No. I do what there is now.

Well Howdy there internet peeps and those standing with Lucy.

It's Troy again

Listening to the Second Section Podcast now. Thanks for the Tip, Tom (looks like the dish on the A Modeler's Life fiasco is the "What Model Railroaders are Afraid to Talk About" episode??? I'm not in far enough to be sure.

Weather-wise we got a glaze of ice during the afternoon/evening yesterday, followed by a dusting of snow. Probably won't be going anywhere this morning. Probably not all day.

Wife decided to take up jigsaw puzzles, and had a few on hand from cleaning her mother's place out when we moved her to the Senior Apartment across the street. Since then, she's made two trip to Goodwill (charity resale shop). I suspect some of these are going back to Goodwill on the next run.

She had a chuckle. Puzzles for $1. And when she got to the checkout with a cookbook and two puzzles, the clerk had to point out "You know the book is FOUR dollars, right????"

Evidently my wife isn't what they see coming through as clients. She was willing to spend six dollars for three items. Bless their hearts.

Now, if I could just get the wife into the MRR hobby. But the only parts I'm not keen on are the laying track and electrical side. I like the modelling side. I'm not sure what she'd enjoy??

Still trying to figure out if I'm heading to Detroit for the NMRA convention. That's the one over my wedding anniversary. Right now, I'm planning on hitting the show on Sat or Sun (Anniv on Friday).

But that could change if wife says we're taking a long weekend in another direction.

Good morning from Wisconsin. It’s 16f degrees feels like 9 and heading to the low 20’s.

We had some snow yesterday and the apartment complex across the street has a service that does the snow removal if it’s 1”+. Staff clean the sidewalks and driveways to the underground parking if it’s less. They were out cleaning the snow when we returned from the UW campus and Women’s Hockey. They were using robots to clean the sidewalks. Kind of shocked me as I never thought of a robot clearing snow. So I walked across the street and checked them out. Came home and went online. This is the brand the apartment is using. It cleaned well but it’s not for a home owner without really deep pockets. Only! Yep only, $4999 each. It’s a good ad if you have time to watch the video
IMG_9780.png

I tried to copy the link to post here but it would not let me. I checked this out Saturday afternoon, guess what ads I have in my YouTube Tube feed this morning! For those not afraid of Facebook, Yarbo has a page you can look at there!

On campus today at noon for the weekend finish with the Minnesota Gophers. #1 Badgers vs #3 was a blowout Saturday with Wisconsin Women winning 8-2 and it wasn’t that close. I expect a much better game from Minnesota this afternoon.

The grandson up in snowy North Central Wisconsin playing in a tournament won 5-3 in the morning and lost in the evening 3-5 with the grandson scoring once and 2 assists. A team they had beaten 4 times this season. The daughter texted 2 additions to the other team were a good 6” taller than our big guy and had never been seen on this team before. The 2 scored all 5 goals against us. I’m sure someone on the grandson team went to the tournament committee to complain

I have a somewhat local (40 miles) client I mainly weather his intermodal equipment for. I have a few clients in LA that are a handful of miles apart and have never met before. The local guy texted me from Las Vegas that he met one of the LA guys at a Blackjack table at the Wynn in the afternoon. It’s a small world!

I don’t really care about the Super Bowl today. After returning from hockey I hope for some bench time as I have started working on a grove (21 trees to start) of weeping or trembling Aspen. I tried yesterday but the spirit was gone

I have the itch and extra money in my PayPal account. Not a good combo for me. I will be heading to my favorite online hobby buying spots in a few minutes

Enjoy the day

Morning all,

Getting ready to head out to the local minor emergency center. Wife afraid I did more damage as it really hasn't completely stopped bleeding. doesn't hurt unless I touch the immediate area. A little swelling and bruising in the knuckle below. They open at 8:00.

27° and cloudy, going for 40°. Snow expected overnight into tomorrow, minor accumulations expect through tomorrow. Big push Monday night and through Tuesday. Total snowfall expected through Wednesday of 5-7". Blaaahhhh

Superbowl: Who cares. I'll be doing other things. My team isn't in and I hate the Thiefs.

TomO: Neat snow machine. Beats going out to do it myself and a lot warmer.

Probably the biggest question is, was the drill damaged in the incident?

Good luck at the Doc-in-a-Box, hopefully it turns out to be nothing.

Good mornin' y'all. It's 16 and clear here on the Southside of Cheyenne - almost Colorado but not quite, Wind chill is at 7 with winds from the NW @ 7 gusting to 11. Humidity is at 47%, high for today 35, low tonight 12 and no precipitation in the immediate forecast. Got a couple of light snow showers yesterday but nothing significant; all gone this morning. Gonna get colder later in the week; several sub-zero nights in the 10 day forecast.
Good to see some of you folks (southern for youse guys) getting some train work done. Some nice looking layouts here and in some of the other sections of the forums.
Super Bowl.. Super Chiefs 3.0 I'd guess. Be surprised if it turns out any other way... Not a big NFL fan
I am:
MLB fan - Astros & Dodgers
NASCAR - Logano, Larson, Elliot, K. Busch - Daytona 500 coming up
F1 - What's Hamilton going to do @ Ferrari - is Verstappen going to get back on track - and then there's m' boy Lando

TomO: I guess you could call that a Snoomba...
Patrick: Take care of that finger. NJ(ret.) sez puncture wounds can be a problem if not properly treated. (Sorry Patrick. Edited -sometimes I don't see so good in the mornings...)
Y'all have a good day and take care.

Morning again,

Doc in the box doesn't open until 10, despite the sign on the door saying 8. So I came back home and finished the boxcar.

Rolls nicely and the coupler height is good.

After working with the grandson on ballast for his N scale (Nothing glued yet, I think I know what I was doing wrong.
Below is one of my lift bridges:

I have a ballasting tool and attempted to use it. The lift bridge isn't glued, but dry tested. I think I was trying to get the sides of the cork underlay as well as the track. To my eye the lift bridge looks better.

Willie: I have bookmarked your ballasting thread, but haven't looked yet. I will be shortly. Thanks for starting it.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 45°. The NWS got it right and the cold front hit exactly as predicted at noon yesterday. Highs in the 40's for the next 5 days with rain Monday through Wednesday. Temperatures are supposed to remain above freezing until after the rain stops Wednesday night, when the forecast is 21°.

Busy morning yesterday, as I did the final tilling of the early spring section of the garden. I'm good for now, need the area for frost-sensitive stuff done by March 15. My plan is to rake it smooth today and plant some lettuce, spinach and other greens before the predicted rain tomorrow.
Wife is going to another granddaughter dance recital in Dallas this morning and then headed over to our other daughter's for a football watching party where she'll spend the night. I no longer care about professional football and I didn't watch the Super Bowl even when I did, unless my team was in it. I'm totally ambivalent about who wins, as a life-long Cowboy fan, I totally dislike Philly. And the Chiefs of course, are coached by one of the most hated Philly coaches. I still remember the game in the 60's when Philly fans made snowballs with 9v batteries inside and pelted Tom Landry on the sideline. BTW, my SIL who's hosting, grew up a few miles from Philadelphia and is a life-long fan.

My plan for today is to try to do some more organization of my RR photos in the computer and save the new folders to the backup drive. Later it's the train shed.

Speaking of out in the train shed, yesterday I finished up the re-worked roof's on the Farmer's Ag & Grain Supply structure. For the roof over the warehouse area, I shaved off the strip wood that warped, and replaced 2 pieces. Against my usual procedure, I glued this roof down and weighted it overnight.

The part over the offices and display floor, I remade with a piece of .030 styrene. This I covered with spray-on Elmers Glue and then covered it with sifted beach sand.

That got painted black.

I may have to hit it with another layer of Dull Coat. I'm leaving it on the workbench for now, since I will add some figures and maybe some more details to the loading dock area.

The present detailing came from my box of stuff, none was included with this kit.

Swal - Besides the benefit of growing organic food, I also enjoy being in the outdoors and getting some exercise.
Tom O - I am quite surprised that the ceiling in your friend's train room isn't already finished!
Marlin - My gardening season is early due to the heat in July and August. I'm about 2 weeks later than normal this year. Peas, greens, onions and other root crops are generally planted here in early-February. Tomatoes, beans and squash in late-March. The only things that grow through the summer are Okra, Sweet Potatoes and peanuts. I can plant a fall garden in early-September. I have heavy black clay soil, so it needs lots of organic materials worked in as deep as my tiller can go. I have a Troy-Bilt rear-tine tiller and can actually go the 8" deep on the first go-around, but I prefer to do 2 passes as that makes everything easier. Doesn't jump around as much.

Everyone have a Super Sunday. Hope that your team (if you have one) wins.

Len, it takes a bit for me to focus too.
Coffee helps. Whiskey is a kickstart.
Short term anyways. 🤣
Pat, how and what did you do to your hand?
Hang tough.
