As to reversing the fans - long stick, broom handle - something solid that don't bend much for that. You get to practice your aim on that tiny switch that is 8 feet away; fun fun. Maria gets mad at me when I reverse the fans in the house as dust bunnies abound. I forget to 'swiffer' them off beforehand - my bad.
The other answer for the fan is to replace the fan with one of the new ones with coreless motor and digital control. You can set speed and direction right from the remote.

Early evening all,

Crazy day off. I spent an hour online getting some services running at the office, Got the groceries for the week and additional stock up stuff. 12 packs of soda at Kroger on sale for a decent price. Stocked up on bottled water and got the freezer reorganized. Found I had 20 pounds more hamburger in the freezer than I remembered having. Took nearly 50 pounds of aluminum cans to be recycled. Aluminum prices are up. Can't flatten them as the recyclers want them uncrushed to verify that they aren't padded with extra weight.

Hoping for some train time this weekend. The grandson wants to work on his layout, so we'll see what transpires.

This comes under I couldn't help myself:

Tangent PC X58 in March 1976 repaint.jpg

From the latest Tangent release....

The office is not completely set up. My own non-work computer is not yet there and I need to get one more table top and legs from IKEA as the remaining space is longer than the ones I have. My printers and stuff aren’t set up.

But the work computer is up and running. The chair is a temp chair until I get my own non-work computer and office chair brought up.

No idea who the Davan Vallley are/were if they even actually existed but it is a nicely done model.
No, that road never existed. The previous owner did a respectable decal job, though. Just a guess, it looks like it was supposed to be a Canadien road, based on the logo.

Hmmm... Wintery mix hitting around lunch time. So, no travel to the train show. I don't want to drive US 33 from Ft Wayne to Elkhart County. That's one twisty road, and not suitable for "wintry mix" driving.

Not sure what today will bring other than that. Need to see what the wife tells me to do. Then I shall plan the day.

Until then, I'm reading the Locomotives Chapter in the Brian Solomon's Conrail book. Already have a list of road names i'm looking for locos from, including some Alco Centuries. Repainting may be required, as suggested earlier.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 63°, headed up to 76° before temperatures rapidly drop with the arrival of the north winds just after noon. Expecting 20mph+ winds for a few hours. Highs in the 40's until Friday, but not quite as windy.

It eventually cleared off and I spent most of yesterday afternoon in the garden. It finally got dry enough to run the tiller. Did the preliminary tilling to 5", mixing in the wood ashes and compost that I have been piling on all winter. I also covered about 1/3 of it with a 2" layer of aged wood chips, courtesy of the power company's tree trimming service in 2022, and some shredded leaves and grass clippings. That will be tilled in today to a depth of 8". The remaining 2/3 of the garden area will be used for warm season veggies that won't be planted until late March. Might get some of that tilled deeper today, but no rush yet. Current target is to plant some lettuce and other hardy greens before the full moon Wednesday. Onions, radishes and carrots maybe next weekend depending on next week's possible rain.

Today's tasks will include removing the wood ashes from the wood-burning heater, which hasn't seen a fire since Tuesday...no embers this go-around; and stacking some wood in a dry place before the cold wet days ahead.

Minimal train shed time yesterday. I am still repairing/replacing some cardstock roofs that were damaged by the leaking roof on the train shed after last May's tornado. Even some with stiffeners warped on me. Some can be flattened out, others are being slowly replaced with styrene. Didn't take a before picture of this one, but I will take one of the after. Slowly but surely I will get them all fixed.
Here are a few additional photos from the TNMRC layout that I took in 2023. Some of these scenes no longer exist; they have been replaced by industries.

Troy - Yes, eggs are the exception in cost, but we were comparing them here in the Coffee Shop last week. And the egg heist of Pete & Gerry’s eggs in Pennsylvania last week didn't help. Too bad about the train show and the weather.
Tom O - Good luck to your wife and her 3 lady friends in the investment world. Some is luck. I purchased 500 shares of Palantir the first week in October for $37.48@. It closed Thursday at $113.22@. That's a lucky gain in just 4 months! That should get me a couple more Scaletrains locos.
Marlin - Good luck on the re-retirement. Your observations on the younger generation of workers is exactly what I saw when I was still working in management.
Hughie - No verdict on stringing wire between the two transmission towers yet. Not sure how it would look just between the two, but I can't extend it to the edge of the layout.
Patrick - Took advantage of the soft drink special at Kroger this week as well, to the tune of 10 packs. Sure made the cart heavy.

Everyone here have a super Saturday.

Willie lot of work growing your own food but like Rober F Kennedy Jr. says too many pesticides used on our food today. It's more expensive but I buy organic everything. I should start a garden, but it would cut too much of my golf time out.
Swal
