Good Morning All!
21F @ 72% dark, no new white. Like it a tad warmer. To be 30F later and above 25F daytime until Monday. Guessers say -2F. We will see.

I did get a hair up and switched the direction on the ceiling fans, now they are sucking up at speed #2 and we got an additional 4+ degree difference overall in the rooms.

Todd,
We use a humidifier in the front room and it does help, we put the heater on hold at 67 degrees and we turn it off at 6pm. The humidifier does help and keeps the main floor comfortable. All our "toys and hobbies" are down here in the basement and it finished the basement with fiberglass stuffing and the roof is weather proofed and I put carpet on the floors, so it stays nice down here all year long. We have over head fans in each room upstairs; but we have 10-foot ceilings and Joan won't let me go up on a ladder anymore, so I forgot all about the reversing switch....so no Christmas lights on the eaves and no reversing switch on the fans...It truly sucks getting old

I haven't been doing anything on the layout now for several weeks. I had a Dr. appointment today and I told him about not having any desire to do anything, and he said I am probably under a lot of stress and more than likely I am under depression. I worry all the time about Joan and her open heart surgery, my son came and visited last month from California, he was drunk the time that he was here; and he wanted to get me irritated (which he was successful at). At the end he wanted to pick a fight and started calling me John, and that pissed me off, he made Joan cry and I told them to get the hell out of my house. My hearing is almost non existent in my left ear. I'm going to give Joan the power of attorney over me, cause I can't remember any new things (I remember 50 years ago like it was yesterday). I think it is best to give her POA, she handles everything now anyway. Dr. said winter time blues aren't helping; so hopefully I will be back to normal soon, and return to working on the railroad

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with cold air

It's Troy again

Slept in this morning, even though I was up early. By 6 am I was machine-gunning yawns, even with coffee. So the cat and I leaned the recliner back and caught another 1.5 hours of sleep. By the time I did my morning stretches and inversion table, it was almost 9 am.

After shower I farted around on the internet. By noon I had lunch (chili without pasta!) and was working on this bad girl for the second army in my gaming hobby.

The pieces are a bit wonky in lining up correctly. And three "Awww, close enough..." mistakes on my part made the breastplate and backplat on the armor not close up tight. So, putty time to fill in the gap.

The ArchAngel in her glory!

The story is that is army is on a fictional world, but is loosely based on our Medieval Crusader factions. This is what happens when you get too many priests praying for miracles to smite thine enemies!

An archangel descends and gets mad that thine enemies have broken the pretty churches. She forms a corporeal body out of stone, wood, and cloth from the church! Standing about 8 inches high (normal human is 1.5 in in this scale), she's not the biggest thing on the battlefield. There are Giants, and Dinosaurs, and dragons, too.

Once the putty is dry tomorrow, I'll give her a clean up pass with the files. Then on to painting.

Wife says we're going out to the wings place tonight. We just had chicken yesterday, so she'll get the tenderloin, and I'll get a BBQ burger with bacon and cheddar.

Don't make a habit of doing that. But I understand sometimes we must do whatever it takes.

Thanks for the update, I hope the stress is not getting to be too much.

Keep in mind it won't be long, and you will be watching some of those Kato trains running.
Yeah at my age I don't stay up all nighty much any more. After the guy left in the mid afternoon I went home and took a nap, got up and ate and inbterfaced with the family a bit (a few hours) and went to bed. I did have a morning nap the next day too for an hour. I recovered, but much more slowly than I normally do.

I got the network in the house upgraded and the wire ethernet connections to my office running so today, when not helping with other packing etc, I've been moving my current day job office up.

I changed my logo. I use it everywhere else. When I won the over 65 golf club championship, I asked them to include the lightning bolt on the display board and they said, no lightning bolt. This forum is much more understanding of personal identity issues.

Good morning gang and thank God it’s Friday!
34° and windy this morning temp is only supposed to reach 42 today.
Swal you do you. I change my avatar frequently and everybody seems to know who I am.
Karl I made up some T shirts years ago with The Amazing Swal logo on them and they were a big hit with the girls in town. I was thinking about having a bunch of them made up but never got around to doing it.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those of you with Super Hero identities

It's Troy (without lightning bolts) again.

Wife and I were hoping to head to Middlebury IN tomorrow to see the Train Show (she was going to the quilting and craft shops). BUT it looks like weather is going to happen. So we are staying home.

I just put in another order at Amazon

I'm officially out of space in the last batch of Magazine storage boxes. Eventually, I'd like rolling racks or short bookcases under the layout to store them. Right now I'm only subscribed to RRMC in print, but I pick up the odd N-Scale RR mag in print from the LHS. I may start Model Railroader back up once I see how the new format shakes out. But, the Trains.com monthly online gets me a pdf copy each month. That's good enough for now.

The 1,2,3 blocks are something I know I should have for modelling.

And the Obrilo is like Mio water flavor, but without the red dye. The mellon tastes kind of like a jolly rancher candy, but about half the sweetness.

Not sure what today will bring other than laundry and a run to the grocery.

John: Just remember getting old is also getting wiser. Humidity in our place is usually 20 - 30%. Any dryer that than and you start getting shocks touching stuff. We do not have any carpet so that is not the cause. I have 12ft peaked ceilings in the train cave and getting on a ladder is not something I like to do. So, Maria found these:

Had a younger friend climb the ladder and install. Ya, needed extensions but those can be found at ACE .. whatever. I thought them cute. As to reversing the fans - long stick, broom handle - something solid that don't bend much for that. You get to practice your aim on that tiny switch that is 8 feet away; fun fun. Maria gets mad at me when I reverse the fans in the house as dust bunnies abound. I forget to 'swiffer' them off beforehand - my bad.

Tough time for the birds that live in a big bush in my back yard. I went to Tractor Supply and bought some bird seed and one of those suet bird packs. The birds prefer the seed to the suet though. Tractor Supply had about 200 of these suet 10 packs. I don't see them selling them all or even maybe 20. I'm glad I only bought one individual packet. The small birds seem to like the seed on the ground more so than in any type of feeder.

John, I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. I was at a loss for words. All I can say is I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.

We will keep both you and Joan in our prayers.

When it comes to our children I have no clue. We are having difficulties with both our daughters. I can't explain why, neither do we know how to fix it. We have always done our best, but... Maybe we spoiled them too much and sheltered them from reality. Now they are adults, mommy and daddy can't fix everything. They must deal with the consequences of their own choices. Mommy and daddy are easy targets to vent their frustration because our love is unconditional.

I am glad that you came to the coffee shop to vent. I have always done that because I know I can count on my train buddies to listen when I need to get things off my chest.

Hopefully, you will return to your railroad soon. In the meantime, we are always here.
