Good morning from an iced over So. Central Wisconsin. It’s 27f degrees now heading to 38 this afternoon. But the ice is out there and opening the garage door showed me about 1/4” on the driveway and sidewalk. I put out the ice melt on the center of the driveway and sidewalks. Have to keep the dog walkers safe on the sidewalks. The driveway was for me. No need for us to drive anywhere until we head out for dinner before the musical we will see tonight. It’s a train day

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All!
21F @ 72% dark, no new white. Like it a tad warmer. To be 30F later and above 25F daytime until Monday. Guessers say -2F. We will see.

I guess that I am still in the stone ages for tea - Lipton bags, boiling water and lemon juice. Don't drink that much of it, more of a coffee nut.

Never fight a dinosaur - you will just get Jurasskicked.

Len Turner: Pretty sure you have heard it by now, but still one of my favs: Never ask if the wind is blowing in Wy, only from what direction and how hard. I do remember a time or two dead still with sunshine @ -20F though.

Maria and I were talking the other day and agree: we are getting tired of winter. Our wood pile for the cook stove is dwindling pretty fast. What 3 weeks left of cold? Hmmm, may have to cut up some of those plywood junk pieces used for the Helix along with bringing in the stems and pieces of framework. The pellet stoves keep up pretty good until it gets below 25F, so cook stove get fired up. I did get a hair up and switched the direction on the ceiling fans, now they are sucking up at speed #2 and we got an additional 4+ degree difference overall in the rooms. Still want to swap the cook stove for an air tight, but Maria is balking at it - she likes how it looks. Used to cook on it during the winter as it was kinda fun. Since we got the new gas cook stove, that has stopped - less hassle.

Still banging around with all the stuff I want to do. ADD does get the best of me and I tend to switch tasks right in the middle of things. Now if I could only remember what I was doing before the switch. Guess that it don't matter in the grand scheme of things, just as long as *something* gets done ... right?

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 61°, headed up to 75° later today. Only made 70° yesterday after the clouds finally cleared. Pleasant weather forecast through Saturday, and then winter returns, getting especially crappy next week. At least that's the forecast right now.

I don't drink tea, either hot or iced, so I cannot comment there. I also don't drink coffee, not because of the caffeine, but just because I don't like the taste of either.

Somewhat wasted day yesterday with household duties. I won't even bother going into it. Today will be the weekly grocery trek, maybe. It will be either today or tomorrow, just haven't decided. If I wait until tomorrow, it's more crowded but I get 4X fuel points! Vitamin Shop and drugstore are already on the list of stops. Wife is going to Dallas today for granddaughter's dance recital. I'm not invited because I fell asleep at the last one. She'll overnight there since she would rather not deal with anything resembling rush hour, or any extended nighttime driving.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did train room maintenance. Got out the shop-vac and ear plugs and vacuumed the whole floor. his time of year is especially bad, as my shoes get wet and all sorts of yard debris sticks to them. And it doesn't all come off on the entry mat! Moved a lot of under-layout boxes and set aside several for further exploration. There can be some forgotten treasures in some of them.
Here are the last remaining photos from the TNMRC club layout that I took last month. These are all just random shots taken from the main aisle after entering the place.

Something that I found out about this layout, is that they don't do formal operating sessions on it. The reason that I was given is that they don't have enough members who are interested enough to set the whole thing up. Plenty of members who just want to run trains though. Individuals do come in and run their own mini sessions, either alone or with 1 or 2 others. The club is open 24/7 if you're a member with "key privileges", or if one is already there.

Old 97 - Good to see you back again.
Len - My sister-in-law's husband has the same problem, no Whataburgers in Tennessee either. Closest one to him is Birmingham AL.
Terry - Dodgebus seems to be everywhere.
Jay - Z scale Big Boy? Does it actually run?

Take your pick of birthdays today, depending on your interests. Ronald Reagan, Babe Ruth, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Axl Rose (Gun's and Roses), Natalie Cole or Bob Marley (late-Reggae star).

Everyone have a terrific Thursday.

Good mornin' y'all from a mostly cloudy Cheyenne. It's 30 with wind chill of 17 and winds from the WNW @ 9mph gusting to 13, humidity is at 63%. Forecast for today is a high of 41, low tonight of 22 and no precipitation in the immediate forecast. Snow is predicted for tomorrow evening and night.
With all due respect to our British friends here, tea of choice here is Luzianne iced tea - unsweetened but the way. I remember a very British history prof I had in grad school called iced tea an "American abomination" along with hamburgers. But she did like her Jameson's...
We have a Keurig, mainly for the convenience of it. I have one of those plastic pods that I can load ground coffee into, usually Colombian or Costa Rican. NJ(ret.) not a big coffee drinker; it's usually Dr Pepper for her.
Not much on the agenda for the day. NJ(ret.) has initial visit this afternoon with our new primary care doc. I think my first appointment is next Tuesday. I've got take a return back to Walmart. Bought an Ottlite led desk lamp last week and within a few hours of use developed "flickering led" syndrome.
Did get out to the soon-to-be train room yesterday. Swept, knocked down some cobwebs, flattened and bagged up some empty boxes. Posted an update in "Layouts"
No word from the movers, but got some stuff coming next week to get started on.
Y'all have a good day and take care.

Good morning all!

Currently 30F this morning, heading to a high of 38F. Had some ice last night into this morning. All the area schools
are doing a 2 hour late start. When I went out this morning for my McDonalds coke it was defiantly slick. The side roads
especially. The main streets and highway were just wet. The city and IDOT were out yesterday all morning treating them
in anticipation.

Going to wait to do morning errands till later this morning, Don't have much running, so it may wait till tomorrow. We shall see.

Have a rare free night. No volleyball games or practices. Its good, the girls need a break. The last 5 weeks schedule has been brutal for them and the parents as well.

Still in the train funk, but some ideas are starting to come back, so I hope its not too long till I get back to doing at least something
on the layout. Other than run trains.

Have a safe day everyone!

You can pick them up anywhere and trust me, there is nothing wrong with it. If you are single, that is.
Dawn would say there is something wrong with it. 🤣

Actually it was a Tea Tasting on a cruise ship. (Lovely looking Chinese ladies in charge. ;)😄)

Whatever. In my experience buy good coffee and tea. I some cheap tea bags, look inside and not a tea leaf in site, just sweeping up dust!!!

Flo. Are you using cheap tea bags?

Thems fighting words David! You're lucky she doesn't smack you with a wooden spoon or one of Mel's spatulas! Flo runs a quality operation here!
Quality food and drink prepared by professionals. Now if she could just make enough money to pay the rent we wouldn't have to move every month! 🤣 ;)🤣:D
She knows I shall call in for Afternoon Tea. 😄
In fact it is time I was there.

Edit. Gee the service is slow today. Was it something I said?
Oh that! Flo, I was only joking; Sorreee!

According to my watch it is 29F at 7:50am. End of last week we were back into the 40s and got into the 50s and we hit 60+ twice this week but it started to cool down a little Tuesday afternoon (instead of it being 50 over night and 60 during the day it got down to about 40 over night and yesterday it lightly sprinkled and alternated overcast and sunny and 40s. This past night it got down to upper 20s and is cold again, though not the low 20s or teens we had a few weeks ago. Weather app actually says high todaty of 50 and 58 tomorrow but still 20s over night but then down tgo 40-41 high the next few days and then down as low as 29F hjigh next week before getting back into the 40s. Overall a mild and mostly dry winter.

On the house front, last week I stayed up all night Monday to get ready for the city inspection for the temporary occupancy permit. I had to "fire tape" the garage ceiling and cover some electrical switches that were hanging out (needed to be rewired so that less wire needed to be pushed in as with the smart switches there was not a lot of room)_. I kept finding new things that still needed to be done. I wanted to postpone but my home builder friend who has been managing the backside and also scheduling inspections told me to go through with it and get the list. So I did. The inspector was one who had been here before a few times but he had forgotten the details and thought it was a final final inspection. He had notbeen here in a year. Once I reminded him of the story he knew what was up He wrote a lot of things down that I knew about but aren't for temporary occupancy permit, and some stuff that needed to be done that I knew about and a few things I did not know about as well. He said he would give the list to his boss and let his boss determine the stuff that was needed for the temporary and the other stuff would stay for the eventual final.

I called the guy's boss the next afternoon (Wednesday) and he said he was looking it overand would get back to me on the needed stuff. Friday morning he called me but I missed the call. I tried calling him back a few times but he never answered and it kept saying his voicemail was busy. I also tried texting the number in case it was his cell. I waited and tried again Tuesday and same thing. Finally I texted the original inspector and asked him to have his boss call me. The guy called and said he didn't know what was wrong with his phone but said he had a small list and could he come by the next day (yesterday) and go over everything with me? I said sure and we mnet for about 90-100 minutes yesterday. He came up with a short list of things, mostly easy. Most were expected and one or two were things I was unaware of. I'm going to get them finished off by this weekend and get it re-inspected Monday or Tuesday. We've continued moving stuff into the house (not beds or other "occupancy" things) so we can get moved as quickly as possible. I got the network wiring to the new office active last night and so will be moving my office today. I need it moved so I can get to all the junk behind the desks for moving or throwing away. (My current office is an unfinished basement and a table and a ton of stuff is behind my work desk).
