Afternoon all,

Grandson turned 14 today and passed the online portion of the test to get his driver's learner permit.

Boris: Well aware of the Medicare penalty and she does have part A coverage. She can skip part B as long as she has other insurance, but has 60 days to get the part B when I lose my Benefit Plan coverage. The whole thing is still kind of a crazy way of doing things.

On a side note: I must be watching "old people" channels as most of the ads are about calling to see if you can get cash added back to your Social Security.

Bill, your photo reminded me of a hidden diner in the Morris Park locomotive facility in Richmond Hill, NY.

It was called Dashing Dan's Diner and was in the Long Island RR yard at Morris Park.

I was 5 when my folks bought their first home. We were living in an apartment in Woodside prior to moving to Richmond Hill. 1951, many steam locomotives were still being used by the LIRR. Locomotives were serviced or repaired in a huge roundhouse, then brought out to the coal tipple. Do you know how much noise loading a tender full of coal makes? We live 1 block from the tipple. Surprisingly we got used to the sounds from the loco yard, even to sleep through it.
This is the tipple. It no longer exists.

Golly jeez…you guys can type. Leave the forum 3 hourscand 2 more pages got added.

Game one for the grandson they won 7-1 with the kid getting 2 goals. Game 2 he got the second goal in a 2-1 game they won. He had 3 granddads and 2 grandmoms cheering him on. I also think in game 2 half his neighbor hood adults came to cheer. The 4pm game is up in the air but I think I will pass. Terry is unsure but I’m chilled and I do not want to miss the game on campus at 8.

Going to hit the pool for 45 minutes and then a nice hot shower. I may also change the plan and not venture into the train room anymore today

Willie enjoy the wedding

Because I switched over to Roku and paid YouTube Premium the $139.00 to watch everything without ads I watch a lot more documenters. Last night while lying in bed I watched the 1951 Woodbridge Train disaster. Boris would know more about this than I do but it seemed the engineer forgot about the bulletin he read to slow down at Woodbridge NJ because of the temporary track & bridge that was installed for of the construction of NJ Turnpike 1951. They said other than slowing to the proper speed laid out in the bulletin the tender internal wooded baffles to stop the water from splashing around were rodded out and may have caused the tender to derail first. I think it said maybe 80 people were killed in the accident.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day with a walk at 56F and damp from last night's rain. Today I headed to my buddy Tom's house with several other friends, and we all had a great time. Tomorrow, I plan on starting on the new build. Family and friends are going out to a Japanese restaurant tonight.

Hughie- Great layout scene and interesting diner.

Mike- Great photos. I believe MILW was the only RR to use the horizontal ribbing on their cars.

Troy- Nice job on the panther.

Mara- I hope you enjoyed the show.

Bill- Neat diner.

Mac- Neat photo.

Guy- You're making great progress.

Willie- Interesting buildings.

Sherrel- Awesome layout and RR photos

Patrick- Congrats to your grandson.

Swal- I will have to watch that.

I hope everyone has a good night,

Being my wife will no longer be home I decided to clear the house out of items I no longer have any use for.
With that I found and old photo of myself back in the days when I was a member of the Poughkeepsie magic club.
Which Jeff McBride was also a member. I completely forgot all about this photo and why is it so big. 2 X3 ft. I don't have a clue.

Maybe your wife liked it so much she planded to frame it, which means it was done with love, I would keep it,

Good Morning All. Perfectly clear and 49° on this fine Saturday morning. Lovely weather for a few days and then our Spring roller coaster weather kicks back in on Wednesday.

That 91° on Monday is a bit high and will definitely get the sap flowing in the trees in the neighborhood. The NWS has been a bit more accurate this month than any time in the last few months.

Nieces wedding is tonight, so I tried on my suit yesterday. I only wear it 1 or 2 times every 10 years. Fit fine and then my wife informs me that no suit, I need to find a sports jacket and pants to wear instead. Well, I don't wear them often either and after searching the closet I found everything and it also fit. Jacket is a little tight, but as long as I don't try to button it, I'll be OK. I don't plan on wearing a tie though. My overall wardrobe tends to be on the very relaxed end; sweatshirts, jeans, tee shirts, tennis shoes and shorts!

Speaking of digging stuff out, I had to dig out the weedeater again yesterday for some major trimming. Of course I ran out of cutting line after just 10 minutes. My back-up reel was empty too, so I reloaded both of them.
Gardening-wise, I planted a few pots of Squash seed for indoor starting that should be ready to transplant to the garden in early April. That's it other than watering the recent transplanted veggies.

I spent a frustrating hour yesterday searching for a couple of items that I have lost in the computer. I know that I didn't delete them, but I just can't locate where Win10 stored them. Search hasn't helped yet.

No real plans for today other than tying up any loose ends in case we decide to spend the night in Dallas tonight.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I started adding the headstones to the cemetery. I have about 2 dozen in place with another 3 dozen or so to go. I also started the process of making a number of smaller rectangles to use as filler among the numerous "monument" types.
Today's photos are a few of the cardstock structures that are on the layout in various places. Not all pictures are of them in their actual resting places. They make some interesting structures and I use them mostly in the backgrounds, except for Mick's Food Market.

Alan - Best wishes on the follow-up surgery.
Grizzled - So glad to read that your wife is OK.
Louis - Amazon may be easy for you to contact, but around here there is no way to contact them on a phone. I spent 2 1/2 months trying to get them to stop delivering my neighbor's packages here, without success. I finally got a driver who was able to straighten it out, after 6 others pretty much ignored me even though they had to go the extra quarter mile to deliver. There were many others that were delivered when I wasn't home or I was out in the train shed. It wasn't a new neighbor, they just moved a trailer in and added an address to the property. When I did once get someone in customer service, they wanted the account number of my neighbor!
Mac - Amazon drivers out here in the boonies are better than DHS or FedEx drivers. But I have never seen the same Amazon driver twice. FedEx has given up before and gone through the extra expense of going to the Post Office and asking them to deliver. Their expense, not mine.

Everyone have a great day and weekend.
Can you think of a time period and wander just through the year in question, I have been reduced to that in the past

Been to that Model show and guess what?! Traffic jam! Loads of ppl and even younger ones. So no, our hobby will not end (I hope).
2 pictures to see the crowd and the other my harvest of the day, that is primer, 3 little bottles of paint, figures that still need a little paint, and a cute little ford (for only 3 euro's)
