Good Morning All!
39F at 79% and pretty clear. Made 50F+ yesterday and should be same today.

Two high-timers were walking in the woods eating mushrooms.
Pretty soon one looks at the other and said
"Having fun Gus"?

So for the other burning question of the day for all of you DP drinkers.
What does the 10 2 4 thing mean?

Later

As already mentioned. --The mysterious “10 2 4” slogan of Dr Pepper has a special meaning. It is a reference to the hours the drink was originally available for purchase. From 10am to 2pm and 4pm to 5pm, customers could buy the delicious beverage.

Good morning from a cool So. Central Wisconsin where it is clear but 13f degrees. The overnight low was 10. The high for the day is 37.

Last night’s hockey game on campus did not end well. Ohio State is ranked #1 for a reason, they are good. The Badger women ranked #2 played well in the 1st period outshooting the opponents 20-4 but they couldn’t score. The Badgers scored in the second period making it 1-0 but the Buckeyes really dominated the period. Third period it was all Buckeyes and they scored 2 absolutely beautiful (and maybe lucky goals) down 1-2 the Badgers gave up an empty net goal to end the game. Looking forward to what will be the final regular season game tonight. If you get the Big Ten Network, game time is at 8 Central. They are by far the 2 best teams in the country and play a fast and very phyiscal women’s game.

The grandson has 3 home hockey games today and I will miss at least game #1 at 9:15. His last regular season game is tomorrow about 30 miles away but Terry is thinking we will be going and getting lunch after with the granddaughter.

Not sure how but I’d like to get the last of the reefers clear coated today. With 36 left to do that’s about 2 hours of time that Inreallyndont see a time slot for. I know tough life when that the toughest decision of the day

enjoy the day

The Dr Pepper numbers! I always understood it to be the time to drink to refresh the sugars in the body

here is what I found online,

The Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas, walks visitors through the fascinating history and tradition of the original Dr Pepper brand, including the obscure numbers 10, 2, and 4 on the glass bottles. Turns out, Dr Pepper's first slogan was indeed, "Drink a bite to eat at 10, 2, and 4!" Does it make total sense to us now? Not really, but at the time, it won an ad campaign request put out by the brand after research in the 1920s showed that folks generally suffer from a sugar low around 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Hence the need for a sugary, bubbly beverage like Dr Pepper to get you going again.

Good Morning All. Perfectly clear and 49° on this fine Saturday morning. Lovely weather for a few days and then our Spring roller coaster weather kicks back in on Wednesday.

That 91° on Monday is a bit high and will definitely get the sap flowing in the trees in the neighborhood. The NWS has been a bit more accurate this month than any time in the last few months.

Nieces wedding is tonight, so I tried on my suit yesterday. I only wear it 1 or 2 times every 10 years. Fit fine and then my wife informs me that no suit, I need to find a sports jacket and pants to wear instead. Well, I don't wear them often either and after searching the closet I found everything and it also fit. Jacket is a little tight, but as long as I don't try to button it, I'll be OK. I don't plan on wearing a tie though. My overall wardrobe tends to be on the very relaxed end; sweatshirts, jeans, tee shirts, tennis shoes and shorts!

Speaking of digging stuff out, I had to dig out the weedeater again yesterday for some major trimming. Of course I ran out of cutting line after just 10 minutes. My back-up reel was empty too, so I reloaded both of them.
Gardening-wise, I planted a few pots of Squash seed for indoor starting that should be ready to transplant to the garden in early April. That's it other than watering the recent transplanted veggies.

I spent a frustrating hour yesterday searching for a couple of items that I have lost in the computer. I know that I didn't delete them, but I just can't locate where Win10 stored them. Search hasn't helped yet.

No real plans for today other than tying up any loose ends in case we decide to spend the night in Dallas tonight.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I started adding the headstones to the cemetery. I have about 2 dozen in place with another 3 dozen or so to go. I also started the process of making a number of smaller rectangles to use as filler among the numerous "monument" types.
Today's photos are a few of the cardstock structures that are on the layout in various places. Not all pictures are of them in their actual resting places. They make some interesting structures and I use them mostly in the backgrounds, except for Mick's Food Market.

Alan - Best wishes on the follow-up surgery.
Grizzled - So glad to read that your wife is OK.
Louis - Amazon may be easy for you to contact, but around here there is no way to contact them on a phone. I spent 2 1/2 months trying to get them to stop delivering my neighbor's packages here, without success. I finally got a driver who was able to straighten it out, after 6 others pretty much ignored me even though they had to go the extra quarter mile to deliver. There were many others that were delivered when I wasn't home or I was out in the train shed. It wasn't a new neighbor, they just moved a trailer in and added an address to the property. When I did once get someone in customer service, they wanted the account number of my neighbor!
Mac - Amazon drivers out here in the boonies are better than DHS or FedEx drivers. But I have never seen the same Amazon driver twice. FedEx has given up before and gone through the extra expense of going to the Post Office and asking them to deliver. Their expense, not mine.

Everyone have a great day and weekend.

Morning all,

Currently 40° and sunny. high of 66° later. Been working on laundry this morning.

Yesterday started the spring lawn work. Had to trim the apple tree due to black mold getting started and found my good sprayer needed work, so I got the part and will be fixing the sprayer shortly. I sprayed the beginning round of weed killer on the early dandelions and henbit. I also got the hollyhocks cut back along with the tall phlox. The tall phlox is already starting to come back.

Got to get the limbs out to the limb yard and get the trees sprayed before ethe start blooming.

Alan: Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Willie: When we started looking at Medicare and all the options, it occurred to me that by looking, some of the plans don't cover what basic Medicare would cover by default. Fortunately she can stay on my insurance from work.

Being my wife will no longer be home I decided to clear the house out of items I no longer have any use for.
With that I found and old photo of myself back in the days when I was a member of the Poughkeepsie magic club.
Which Jeff McBride was also a member. I completely forgot all about this photo and why is it so big. 2 X3 ft. I don't have a clue.

Be careful... Santa saw you being naughty in that pic, and he's about to lay a smackdown on your head

Sherrel - I'm hoping the good news far out-runs the bad news you mentioned. I'm certainly sending you best wishes and prayers.
Thanks, GUY -- I keep forgetting to bring the "Folder" upstairs with me- there are a few medical terms that I need from it. Will "getitdone" today.

I have the MACPRO in the shop for a screen replace!. I decided that I better not "F" with it. My knowledge of "MAC" is limited by the on/off switch! I am reminded of Kate's Uncle Johnny who moved a quarter mile from us when he was 86 YO; and had bought a DELL (his first) with all the bells and whistles. At least three times a week, he would call me and ask if I could get him out of a jam - or ask how to do something.
Ln the meantime - for those who have not watched - is a model experience that I LOVE!

I'll be back for brunch, Francine, just a cup to go at present.
Supposed to be up to 75 again today;it has really been beautiful here lately!

I'd like to say that it is the only reason I stay here!

Morning folks

A mild 43F with some wind in the forecast for this afternoon. Wind is usually something we see little of at our place.

I don't seem to get anything done anymore, lack of sleep and maybe depression. My wife mentioned the wheelchair this morning at breakfast. That was a first. It is going to require some rearrangement in the house but think I have a viable plan for it.

Grizzled - A really good walk in the forest is often a great relief for depression. Wildlife and trees can speak to you in more meaningful ways than people.
Back in the day, I'd go squirrel hunting.
After a bit of scouting, I'd sit on a fallen tree.
Within 20 minutes, the silence would be deafening and literally washes over you.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to walk in the woods.

I've been on Medicare since 2013, and have stuck with the traditional Medicare. My supplement is a railroad plan, that covers not only the 20%, but the annual Medicare deductible, and the Hospital deductible. No co-pays, no deductibles. None of the restrictions / limitations and extra charges that Part C (managed care) Plans have. We also have the Medicare Part D, (Drug), Plan, separately. Our plan has no co-insurance or deductibles, and the monthly premium is lower than the previous plan I had that has deductibles, and higher premiums.

One word of caution. There is a Medicare Penalty, if a person doesn't sign on to a plan...either Traditional Medicare, or Managed Care... once they turn 65. That aspect is worth looking into, when planning or selecting options. Don't know how or if that would apply in your circumstances, but Medicare can advise.

Good afternoon ALL!!!
Flo, could I please get the "Boxcar Reuben"?
Number 29 on the lunch specials.
Comes with the perfect Reuben sandwich, served with steak fries and double pickle spears.
Presented as a boxed lunch, with train themed wax paper.
Steak fries are overpacked for your enjoyment.
Would like my beverage to be a large Dr. Pepper.
Add a shot of Southern Comfort for a dollar?

Thanks for reminding me that I need to walk in the woods.

It is the colours in nature I love. The fifty shades of green in the grasses and trees. The browns and yellows one sees. Look closely there is white; not a lot, but there. Then as if not to be left out, red.
Yes a walk in the fields or woods brings a sense of calm to life.

Seeing what you see and not what you thought you saw. Magic.
