One person says if you have Windows 11 just turn off the Notifications because it's endless unless you do this. What every you do be very careful about giving out your credit card number.
The McAfee scam is not removed by changing notifications settings. My Laptop came with a "free" year of "McAfee" protection, which wasn't renewed when they wanted a fee. However, McAfee was still embedded in the Windows Registry, which allows McAfee to use popups to market their product....(Same with Norton - Life Lock)....To eliminate their spam, you need to remove all references to McAfee in the Windows Registry.

I do not know what it was/is like across the pond regarding girls and boys. When I was a young boy I was around cousins who were girls and grew up amongst them and their friends who were girls.
These days there seems to be very few girls around. Boys galore wherever we see.

Oh well. Such is life.

Good morning from my little part of Wisconsin. Only 15 miles from the Mad City train show and I didn’t go. I see Alan (espeefan) did go per his Passenger car thread.

I did attend an op session Friday night with 4 guys showing a layout at the show. Many of my FB friends from Wisconsin and quite a few from the Minneapolis area came down. But many of the local guys I hang with, only 1 went. and He went because he is an N scaler and runs his trains (no home layout) on the modular club he belongs to.

Went 55 minutes south of home and watched the grandson’s team play a great game. Their goalie, well she was outstanding and when needed made some great saves. The grandson and his line played very well and the team had a nice well deserved victory. There are 3 games left in his Fall/Winter season. He moves to his triple AAA team with practices starting March 6,7 and 8. I spoke to him Saturday morning and wished him well in the weekend tournament and he was excited for the games. He seems to have an added spark to playing since he made the AAA team. One of his linemates and a defense person also made it. So he will know very well 2 team and school mates plus he knows 4 others from other area teams he has played with in Summer leagues before. He was worried about the new environment and maybe not knowing any other players. That’s resolved. His best buddy made the team but decided he was going to play another year of baseball instead this Summer. Neither of them are planning to play any organized soccer as there were too many conflicts

My plan today is simple. I received 2 unexpected client commissions Saturday. The STX reefer cars have started to arrive

I will be working on them today, bending my Tuesday rule and will work a couple hours tomorrow. Should be able to finish them Wednesday. In between working on these cars over the next 3 days I will be working on the layout. BUT, Terry is home. So any planning on my part is subject to her changing it!

Examples of the prototypes above are from Railcarphotos.com and the author is shown in the frame of each picture. The pictures will be used for inspiration. The cars were built in 2001 and these pictures range from 2012 to 2020.

My own 8 cars and many commission cars per the email I received from STX and tracking on the UPS website say later this week.

enjoy the day

Boris the notifications were flashing every 5 seconds on my screen until I turned off notifications in setting. It keep on going even after I paid for a new subscription. I'm thinking about getting rid of McAfee the next time the payment is due. They tried to blackmail me into paying.

Good Morning!
Looks like the east is living in a snowbank these days, and the west is going tropical. We're sitting at 18F this beautiful, star and satellite lite morning. I can still see the Big Dipper.

Yesterday, I worked on the 3rdClass depot.
I carefully cut the windows into those narrow bay-window sides. Those sides pieces are quite small and weak, so I felt it important to get some Stucco-Patch onto them right away. The stuff hardens like rock, but has a plastic feel.

My Stucco-Patch can is over a year old, and it seemed a little too dry to work with. It's too grainy for me. So, I'll try a 2nd coat today with some water mixed in. I'm looking for a consistency where I can just use my thumb to press it on.
Need to remind myself to get the window orientation right, come the time to glue in.

Some of you might remember, that I've used this experimental siding/balsa strengthening technique before, when I scratch-built my 2-car garage:

My whole purpose for using balsa and Stucco-Patch, is to keep things cheap. Kits or buying wood siding seems to cost a-lot of money. As it is, I've got a crate of 3/32 balsa sheet left over from R/C days, sandpaper, and cardboard waste; so I figure I've got the stuff to make model buildings. The Stucco-Patch is a-bit pricey, and the Tichy windows cost. But, I think this is about as cheap as I can make it.

Swal - I feel quite sad over the space you are living in these days. Good luck to you! I hope you find the strength to get through it all.
Mara - Thank you for the Budd 1501 vid.
Kriegsblok - Love those rock viaduct photos. Don't see those around here; only oiled timber trestles.
Jaz - I chuckled at you're one post. I tried to read and make sense of it in one breath. You're typing is wonderful.
David - We have lots of girls around here. I even find female nature loving environmentalists in the depths of the forest.
Old97 - Why do you love bacon?

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Yeah, the purple bag of Caramel Delights is empty now... Should have remembered that they make my insides move a bit. Been gassy enough to wake both me and the cat. So I came down to the basement and let the wife sleep in peace.

OH, and she found one very pierced girl at a jewellry kiosk that showed her to get "Flat Back" earrings, and from Amazon was the cheapest deal.

Fifteen dollars later, once we got home, and her new earrings are on the way.

OK, me and the cat are going to attempt to sleep.

Got to remember that even though those boxes of cookies are smaller every year, I'm not getting any smaller. I better put the Fat Mints into the freezer and save them for later.
Caramels are made out of condensed milk, and that's the only good thing about that milk!;)

Good Morning All. Clear and 34°, back into the 60's today, then 70's for a while. While the high yesterday was only 54°, there was no wind and bright sunshine, thus making it tee shirt weather most of the day. More wind from the south expected today, but that's what will make it warm up rapidly. Beautiful weather in store for the next ten days, I expect trees to start budding out in about a week or so.

I had an aggressive day in the garden yesterday, preparing the bed for Green Peas, and the row for Spinach & Lettuce. I'll plant today. Today I will also start the specialized mix of heirloom Tomatoes in individual pots for eventual transfer to the garden around the first of April. There's 30 seeds in the packet of 6 varieties, black, red, purple, yellow, green and a streaked variety. I'll purchase plants in about 3-4 weeks for my red ones for preserving. Meanwhile all of my onions and radishes seemed to have made it through the 24° temperature Saturday night. I expected them to based on my past experience. Tomorrow, the Broccoli plants will be planted. All of this stuff will survive a light freeze if needed. I am taking some chances with the Lettuce though, but once established, the tops might die but the plants will come back.

As is usual for Sunday's, I only spent a short time out in the train shed yesterday. I touched up some light areas in both the ground cover and gravel parking area at the cemetery scene. While the glue dried, I did some maintenance on a pair of locomotives that were a little balky when I ran them the other day. While I think that ultimately it was that they had sat stationary for quite some time, I did clean the wheels and the brass bushings/axles. They ran much better after that and a couple of laps.
Today, let's revisit some of the structures that I got from Chet's Logan Valley layout. All of these needed some repairs done (I think that I documented them here), as they didn't completely survive being removed from his layout and the 1000+ mile trip to me.

The last two, The Dusty Saddle Saloon and Augie's Ag Supply have already found a home on my layout

Todd - It seems that all model railroad projects go slower than we want them to go, helix's are probably no exception.
David - One of the reasons that I love the pictures of your layout is that I enjoy seeing the quaint (to me) small railcars that were used on UK railways in your time frame.
Louis - Your Mom's Goulash recipe is quite similar to mine, except I just use chopped tomatoes from the garden with the ground beef and macaroni. For variety, I'll sometimes top it with Cheddar cheese and bread crumbs.
Sherrel - Re: handicap placard. I had to use it many times when Arlene had all of her knee replacement surgery, but mostly now, there are non-handicap places just as close to the door; as well as many vacant handicapped places. The exception is at the two Walmarts. They have many handicap spots all up close, but there is never a vacant one anyway. I actually think that it is a sad commentary that so many handicapped persons cannot afford to go elsewhere. The temp placard is $5 here.
Mike - My family lived in New Orleans for about 1 1/2 years from 1959-1961, and we lived just three blocks from the Luzianne plant. We were overwhelmed by the aroma coming out of it the whole time that we lived there. It wasn't a bad aroma, but it was constant.

Songwriter/singer Smokey Robinson is 84 today. He and the Miracles were all over the airways in the 60's.

Everyone have a great President's Day.

McLeod I have to make a brick wall and I'm pretty sure I read something about making a mold around the wooden part. Pour some thick plaster, stir well and let it rest to harden. When its not yet completely hardened you can carve the bricks. Paint and waether the project.
Problem is we have magazines but not a way to find something (index). I will try and find something.
Looks good what you are doing. Have you printed the windows and doors yourself?

Morning all! A pleasant 21 degrees here in the frozen tundra. Going all the way to the 40's today and we'll even see some 50's this week. Wisconsin's roller coaster weather! I have the day off. It's unusual for a private company to give holidays only the Feds normally get, but hey, not complaining. I'll take it. An extra day to fool around on the work bench!
We don't have the day off though before our company was acquired we did get President's Day off. Wife has it off. She is an RN at the hospital but her department is scheduled outpatient only so they close on the holiday. Those who work get holiday pay and the hours accrued as PTO.
