Todd- The puppy is adorable!I suspect y'all remember Nina passing. Lizzy had been walking around pretty much with no purpose, looking in all the spots Nina used to haunt. So meet Jake:
10 weeks old and such a puppy. Lizzy hasn't bit him yet and is starting to do the 'play' routine. Good. Cats don't bother him even when he goes and tries to sniff them. Happy animal world again. Ya, we are gonna have land mines around the house for a week or so. Has been following Lizzy around but not through the doggie door yet.
My son's Aussie can open doors--including the fridge door...Both really great with cattle and way too smart. Good thing they didn't have opposable thumbs.
Will he get him a drink, and bring it to him?My son's Aussie can open doors--including the fridge door...
No, but he gets his own food and eats it--whether he's supposed to or not. He's made himself sick a couple of times doing this. They had to put a baby lock on the fridge door to keep him out. Will he get him a drink, and bring it to him?
I've seen videos of dogs that have been trained to do that.
I'm not surprised! Many Australian dogs are descendants of the British Border Collie, the smartest dog in the world. My son's Aussie can open doors--including the fridge door...
Beagles are ranked 141st in intelligence. My old Beagle Tucker can't open doors. I must leave the bathroom door open, or he will scratch at the door and whine. My wife keeps a nice clean and very plush soft rug in front of the vanity for him to rest on as he waits for me.No, but he gets his own food and eats it--whether he's supposed to or not. Of course, that doesn't stop him from opening the bathroom door and joining you when you're on the throne.

I haven't seen one in person, but I bet it would go for big money on eBay!
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That last one reminded me of Mr Rogers Neighborhood,

One of my dobermans jumped my mother in laws fence tried digging under to help theother dog, gave up when hit gravel and wandered off luckily she had a name tag and was reported to the police when I checked, 3 roads away she was shivering under a header and too scared to come out to the woman who not having a dog had put out milk and bread to try and encourage her to come out, she saw me dashed out at speed, the woman was by her sink watching the dog was okay and was happy her mum had tracked her down and happy her call to the police had had results she had also called a dog place but not one I had tried, one exhausted dobermann did not rejump the fence either. Luckily she did not eat the milk and bread not good for hedgehogs either they too prefer tinned dog meat.Beagles are ranked 141st in intelligence. My old Beagle Tucker can't open doors. Beagles are intelligent, but rankings are based on obedience. Beagles are hardheaded, hunters that follow their nose!
When Tucker was young, he was an escape artist. I can't tell you how many times he escaped from our yard. He could escape from a tight harness! I used to call him Houdini. He never went far, just hunting a trail. Beagles are great at learning from experience. He once tracked down a Pitbull that attacked him and nearly killed him. He hasn't left our yard since.
