Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 47°, but with a robust south wind later today we should see 68°; mid 70's tomorrow. Maybe rain over the weekend.
Busy day for me yesterday. After the dishwasher and some other minor but time consuming kitchen chores, I replaced 2 light switch wall plates and 7 outlet wall plates throughout the living room. The old ivory ones looked dingy and a triple switch light switch cover had cracked. The new white ones look better with the current paint scheme. 5 of the 7 outlet covers required moving furniture; sadly they will not be seen! It was also a perfect day for burn trash, a trip out to the dumpster and some time spent working with the compost pile.
After lunch, I was able to plant the remaining 130 onion sets in the garden. That makes 220 yellow and 56 white onion plants in total. I have room for 50-60 red (purple) ones, but they were not available when I went last Thursday. I'll check again tomorrow. Despite the ground everywhere else being saturated, the garden was moist but workable from all of the organic material, (shredded leaves, grass clippings, shredded wood chips and compost) that I added last fall. Too soon for the earthworms to be near the surface yet, but they'll be returning to the surface when the ground warms up a bit more, 55° F and above. Right now mine is at 48° at 2" and 53° at 7", per the closest monitoring station to me, 7 miles away.

This is however the perfect temperature for cool season crops like Onions, Lettuce, Spinach and Peas, most of which I will plant within the next ten days.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I ran trains for a change. That is after I vacuumed the floor of all the winter debris that sticks to wet shoes. That's not a problem for most, but a visit to the train shed requires a walk of 150' through the yard. The mat inside the door only catches about 70%. It's a rural issue not an urban one!

Here are a few random shots of trains on the layout until I get full throttle into current projects.

Tom O - Best wishes on your knee. Re Golf: Who decided on these winter excursions that don't seem too popular with the group? I didn't think that it was you as you didn't get onboard early enough last year to contract them.
Terry - Thanks for the lead.
Joe - I understand what you are saying regarding falls at our age. Right now the train shed has four extra wide steps to get in. Even though I have no current difficulty with them, I am concerned enough about the future that I will be adding a handrail this summer.
I really like what you are doing with the Scott Paper building. One of my complaints about model railroading is that there are not enough "industry-sized" structures available from manufacturers. I have kitbashed a few myself, mostly backdrop structures like yours.
Troy - Good to read that you survived the close call in the car. I've been driving for almost 60 years, but within the last 10 years I have witnessed a marked decrease in drivers paying attention and the overall lack of common driving courtesy/etiquette. I blame it on cell phones from what I am mostly seeing. The difference between Indiana and Texas is that drivers here don't flip the bird as often because they might get shot at. Not necessarily directly, but a well-placed hole in the fender or door.
Just wait until you get a bit older and the o-dark-thirty potty runs start coming every 2-3 hours!
Best wishes for Mom.
60 years ago today, the Beatles landed in America for the first time.
Everyone have a good hump day.
