Update on mom. Hospital didn't see blood clot in the lungs. They think she's retaining too much fluid. Her legs are swollen and have been for a while. They put her on an IV diuretic and kept her overnight. We'll see if they want to keep her beyond that.
I hope all is well with your Mom.
Good morning!
Thanks for the daily photos!

This works for me:
I get Hall's or Ludens sugar-free cough drops. Don't know if they have them over there, but I'm sure there are equivalents.

Then, I put one into my cheek at bedtime. Just let it sit there.

It calms the cough, and -- believe it or not -- lasts all night.
The secret is just letting it sit there in between your cheek and lower jaw.
Thanks, J. Albert. We have similar here. I have also been taking 'a spoonful of honey' throughout the day.
Today I feel a lot better. The cough has eased somewhat.

Good morning from Florida but at the airport. 8:05 flight to Austin and the son will pick us up. He is maybe 5 miles away but not on any flight path. He said though he does seem to be on one of the helicopter paths to the airport.

I tried to get a flight to Wisconsin but nothing that wasn’t 2 or 3 stops getting into Madison. The knee got pretty swollen yesterday but icing most of the evening and overnight seems to have helped. My thoughts are to be heading home to get my knee checked after a couple days here if I don’t feel any improvement. We are heading to Austin to visit and check out a few golf resorts for next year. Next up was Vegas at the brother’s house and a few days of golf. The golf for sure is out!

time to board

Have a safe flight and don’t over due it with the knee.

Good morning. Happy Hump Day. 26°, and sunny...with a Coastal Flood Warning...Going to 47°, again, the only difference is the arrival of some clouds this afternoon, to remind us we are in Jersey. Hockey resumed last night, the Caps lost to the Habs, 5 -2. The Devils beat the Avalanche 5-3. and Edmonton's near record winning streak ended last night, in Las Vegas.

The Coastal Flood warning is due to higher astronomical tides due to Friday's new Moon. They have a name for it, (like everything else), "King Tide". Even with good weather, the NWS finds a way to "worry" us. I've been here 38 years, and tides are always higher, resulting in minor flooding around inlets, when there is a Full Moon, and / or a New Moon. Now, it's a crisis. Also I live in the Western Part of the County, (Inland), There is no coast here, just a few lakes, and non tidal streams. Yet they insist on adding the Warning to our forecast...I guess NWS forecasters no longer look at maps, or can't read them.....Just a thought.

Just like here.
"Severe weather warning. It is raining." they announce.
I know. I looked out of the window. Oh! It has stopped raining now. That 'severe weather warning' was a little drizzle of fifteen minutes.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 47°, but with a robust south wind later today we should see 68°; mid 70's tomorrow. Maybe rain over the weekend.

Busy day for me yesterday. After the dishwasher and some other minor but time consuming kitchen chores, I replaced 2 light switch wall plates and 7 outlet wall plates throughout the living room. The old ivory ones looked dingy and a triple switch light switch cover had cracked. The new white ones look better with the current paint scheme. 5 of the 7 outlet covers required moving furniture; sadly they will not be seen! It was also a perfect day for burn trash, a trip out to the dumpster and some time spent working with the compost pile.
After lunch, I was able to plant the remaining 130 onion sets in the garden. That makes 220 yellow and 56 white onion plants in total. I have room for 50-60 red (purple) ones, but they were not available when I went last Thursday. I'll check again tomorrow. Despite the ground everywhere else being saturated, the garden was moist but workable from all of the organic material, (shredded leaves, grass clippings, shredded wood chips and compost) that I added last fall. Too soon for the earthworms to be near the surface yet, but they'll be returning to the surface when the ground warms up a bit more, 55° F and above. Right now mine is at 48° at 2" and 53° at 7", per the closest monitoring station to me, 7 miles away.

This is however the perfect temperature for cool season crops like Onions, Lettuce, Spinach and Peas, most of which I will plant within the next ten days.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I ran trains for a change. That is after I vacuumed the floor of all the winter debris that sticks to wet shoes. That's not a problem for most, but a visit to the train shed requires a walk of 150' through the yard. The mat inside the door only catches about 70%. It's a rural issue not an urban one!
Here are a few random shots of trains on the layout until I get full throttle into current projects.

This is the end!

Tom O - Best wishes on your knee. Re Golf: Who decided on these winter excursions that don't seem too popular with the group? I didn't think that it was you as you didn't get onboard early enough last year to contract them.
Terry - Thanks for the lead.
Joe - I understand what you are saying regarding falls at our age. Right now the train shed has four extra wide steps to get in. Even though I have no current difficulty with them, I am concerned enough about the future that I will be adding a handrail this summer.
I really like what you are doing with the Scott Paper building. One of my complaints about model railroading is that there are not enough "industry-sized" structures available from manufacturers. I have kitbashed a few myself, mostly backdrop structures like yours.
Troy - Good to read that you survived the close call in the car. I've been driving for almost 60 years, but within the last 10 years I have witnessed a marked decrease in drivers paying attention and the overall lack of common driving courtesy/etiquette. I blame it on cell phones from what I am mostly seeing. The difference between Indiana and Texas is that drivers here don't flip the bird as often because they might get shot at. Not necessarily directly, but a well-placed hole in the fender or door.
Just wait until you get a bit older and the o-dark-thirty potty runs start coming every 2-3 hours!
Best wishes for Mom.

60 years ago today, the Beatles landed in America for the first time.

Everyone have a good hump day.

I'm still above water - LOL. Mostly cloudy this morning with some sunshine poking through ... winds are calm and the streets are still wet from very light sprinkles throughout the night.
Boy did it pour yesterday afternoon - about 3 inches worth in a couple hours -- bringing us to 13.5 inches for the season (double the usual amount). Probably in about two months we will be saying, "Boy, I wish it would rain"
At least the solar panels should be clean again?

FLO - Bring on the scrambled with bacon and hash browns this morning, please!
A plate of biscuits and gravy on the side with a large diet DP .. PATY!

Thanks for being here Bill!
Good morning All!!!!!
I woke up early to start late.
Flo, not sure what I want.
Could you please surprise me?
I will take a cup of coffee though.
Dawned on me what's different with you.
Your sneakers are a bit thicker in the soles.
Gives more height, which adds to your wiggle. o_O :p
That's known as poetry in motion. :)
What? Yes ma'am. I will be taking my breakfast in the corner.......

Morning all,

Went home yesterday afternoon with a weird migraine and thought I was over it enough to go to work, until I apparently blew through a stoplight, according to the cop who pulled me over a mile from the house. The flashing strobe lights set it off again, so I'm back home. Slept for another 3 hours. Still feeling weird though.

Please tell me he let you off with a stern warning!

Dawn and I were talking about railway journeys we used to do before health issues put a stop to.
"Remember the overnight train from Calais to the south of France," said Dawn, "The discotheque and small dance floor that was on it?"
"Oh yes! And trying to get the children to return to the sleeping compartment?" said I.
We both laughed now. Not then though. We knew the 'bother' of waking and getting to the Diner in the morning.

"It's not my favourite journey we took," I added.

We had been married just over a year. The journey to Wick is my favourite. Catching the morning train in Newcastle to Edinburgh. Crossing the border into Scotland and Dawn resting her back against my shoulder and chest as she watched the passing scenery.

Edinburgh we had an early lunch in a bar in Rose Street. Dawn loves Edinburgh. A favourite place of hers before we married. No sightseeing though; a train to catch. The train to Inverness was at the platform. I was getting used to Dawn resting her back against me. No, they are the wrong words. I was loving it. The Forth Bridge, Ladybank Junction, Perth behind us. Into the Highlands and down to Inverness.

Dawn's parents had moved to Southern Scotland, so we booked into the Station Hotel for the night. An evening stroll down to the river. Remembering our first meeting. The castle high on the left the River Ness on our right. We came to the little waterfall where I proposed. We kissed.

The following morning we caught the train to Wick. We made sure we were in the Wick portion of the train as it splits at Georgemas Junction. One portion of the train goes to Wick, the other to Thurso. The scenery is better sitting on the right. Dawn settled in her favourite position (as far as I was concerned). I kissed her forehead; well not really, more in her hair. She looked up at me and pouted her lips into a kiss and snuggled in closer.

Yes. My favourite journey with Dawn

The watch says 36F. Its snowing and has been. Looks like an inch or so of wet snow.

My mom is coming to help paint so I'm off in 20 minutes to have her help me an hour or so.

Luckily this winter has been miled and not so wet as last winter, where it dumped on us al winter, well into the spring.
