You’re making quick goulash, paprika in a chilli! Still it’s the Hungarian influence, I get it lol.
As usual, you are correct. It is the Hungarian in her.

Her Chili is much different than her Goulash.
Ah no at least two of us agree to goulash Hungarian style, his wife, my husband, my father in law quite specific,
caraways seeds a must!
Once again you are correct, Hungarian Goulash has caraway seeds. But my wife leaves them out for me, I don't like them!
I'll bow out of the goulash discussion. I'll eat it but have no experience or knowledge nor witty comebacks with regards to it.
You don't have to be an expert. I often don't know what I'm talking about. 🤪

You will come up with something witty, you usually do!

Good Morning!

The forecast is nothing but sunshine and relative warmth for the next few days. It might hit 33F today.
Since it's so nice out, I'll probably spend some time out in the forest, with the dog. Sky will like that; she hasn't had a good day down by the creek in quite awhile. I'll just need to be careful of all that darn ice on the trails.

I also plan on giving the model 3rd Class depot some time. I'd like to advance that project to a point where I feel like something is getting done.
The wife is at work today, so I only have Sky to worry about.

Sherrel - I also enjoy those old WW movie clips in B/W. Whenever one comes on, I'm watching it. It's rare, though, on the few TV channels we get.
Bill - Wish I had that 1940's 2-door coupe parked off in the distance in the old underpass photo. I don't know the maker, but, it wouldn't matter who or what it was, if here today.

I want to get the day started, so I'm going to leave you with a couple of repeat SD40-2w photos. I'm not big on the colours, but, I do like the weathering on this engine.

Have a great day, folks!

Afternoon All,

Today it's cold, dark and raining and it's supposed to continue through tomorrow night. Today is Dad's 91st birthday 🎂. In the train room I finished up Wileys Waterproofing. I ended up making a couple minor changes to the kit. It's sitting on the layout in it's general area but it won't be finalized until I build the FOS McCauleys kit. They will sit next to each other on the layout.

Chad- Growing up we ate Dad's version of chili which is a soup. Shudder.

Jaz- Nice shots of the good boys and girls on your layout.

Mikey- That is wonderful news. I am very happy for you.

Toot- I'm very glad you are doing OK after all that surgery.

David- Nice layout shots.

Swal- Unfortunately dumb people are everywhere and multiplying.

Mac- No thank you. The ground is white.

TomO- Glad you had fun at the operating session. That looks like a well-used GP-38.

Willie- Great looking progress.

I hope everyone has a good night.
Nice work!

Yesterday was not a good day! I do not know if it was because of the previous day, or just a holdover from the prior Chemo; however, it was mid afternoon before I felt decent at all!
I tried to watch a hockey game, but I need to read some on the rules of the game - just not fam. with it?

Hope you all have a great day!
I like to watch Hockey, but I prefer to listen on the radio. When I watch it on TV I have no clue what they are doing. 🤪 On the radio they explain stuff. 😁

We need Boris to teach Hockey 101 for us.

I watch baseball on the Tv and listen to the game on the radio. I like the radio announcers better.

Plus your right, you get a better explanation, and some good past baseball stories.

Morning all,

10° warmer than yesterday morning 24° going for 55°. Bedroom paint is complete, just 1 more and a hallway remain. It seems like I've been painting forever, but the inside needed it. Got the girls slightly upset when we said I needed to get the basement done so it's at least matching when it comes for us to no longer be in this house.

I may then do a paint change outside as I have same areas where I need to replace pieces of siding and will need to paint.

OS\2 was superior to WindowsNT. Created by collaboration of IBM and Microsoft. Another stupid thing IBM did when they bailed on the project. The Microsoft's marketing did a hit on it when IBM sold new pc's. You had to specifically select OS\2 at initial boot, and if you were too slow, Windows was installed. 30 years later it's a moot point. IBM lost millions IMO.

I can’t remember getting the last word in. Married 47 and together 52 years I’ve just never learned. Even when I say “fine, u got the last word in” there is always a follow up. That’s usually when it dawns on me to keep my mouth shut.
I always get the last word. I may not be brave enough to say it out loud and its in my head, but I do get the last word! :D

Least thats how I see it!

Good Morning All. Clear and a chilly 24° out there. It will be in the mid-50's today with a rapid warm-up after that, still with 80° in the forecast for Wednesday. I'll welcome the sunshine after 3 cloudy days.

Yesterday, I finally walked up to the neighbor's property at the top of the hill going west, after seeing 3 truckloads of lumber going up there over the past 10 days. Jimmy, age 82, had already signed all of his 20 acres over to his now 50+ year old son about 10 years ago. Marty bought a trailer and moved out there with his son and girlfriend about 3 years ago, and had a slab poured in 2020, but lumber shot up in cost so he stopped there. Now lumber has come down some and he also finally sold his house in the city and commenced to building his "forever home". So I'm getting a new house built nearby without actually gaining any new neighbors. Because of the rise and descent of the hill, I cannot see the actual house from the SFW estate. Marty is building a room w/bath in a wing of the house for Dad, but Jimmy says that he will not leave his current trailer and move in. Seems like a nice house though, with 6" exterior walls to allow for lots of insulation. Looks to be about 2800 ft² with another 1000 ft² garage.
Still haven't seen any sign of activity at the AWOL neighbors house, however after a 10 day absence, the garbage dumpster returned. Their Longhorns seem to be doing OK for now.

I had an extremely lazy day yesterday, sitting in front of the computer for far too long. Other than walking up the road and back, the only other thing that I did was to hoe up an area in the garden to plant Lettuce, Spinach and Broccoli plants in either tomorrow or Tuesday. I need to prepare a bed to plant the Green Peas in as well. For the Lettuce and Spinach, I will plant some plants and also plant some seeds to stagger the harvest.

While I did go out to the train shed yesterday, I only ran trains since that's why I built it. No project work of any kind, although I did do some vacuuming under the layout.
Oftentimes I build structures that I don't have a place for yet on the current layout. I still have about 30% of the overall layout left to scenic, but I resolved to complete some blank areas first. Here are a few of those structures that are sitting on the "ready shelf" waiting for their turn.

I have always anticipated a semi-completion date of mid-2025, but I may move it back a bit.

Patrick - When they did my fiber-optic, they used a machine that just sliced the ground and laid the cable behind it about 14" deep, across 250' of yard from their box to my existing telephone box. Then someone with a rake pushed some of the dirt back in. A different fellow (tech from the local phone co) made the final 40' connection to inside the house. Once it later rained, the path disappeared.
Sherrel - Re: The temporary handicap placard. Here they mark the expiration date on the placard with a Magic Marker that can be removed with acetone (in wife's case fingernail polish remover), and a new one can then be written. It doesn't change the "punched-out" dates, but I never have seen anyone get close enough to check those. I generally don't use it unless absolutely necessary.
Hockey is easy. Skate around with a stick and swat at a little rubber disc. If you hit someone else with your stick, they send you to an isolation box for two minutes.
Mikey - Yes those trees do appear to be Crepe Myrtle trees. in this part of Texas, they seem to be a "go to" tree in cemeteries.
Joe - There is way too much money being spent in politics, both to get elected and after politicians get elected. I think that one primary reason is that most politicians don't know squat about budgeting and have never owned or managed a business.
Todd - There's no such thing as a last word. The conversation might pick back up 15 years later!

Daytona 500 today. Another example of a sport that has been recently "dumbed down".

Everyone have a super Sunday.

WILLIE -
This one is bright reddish orange - no marker, just punched out. Funny thing is this damn State!
A permanent tag is free, but a Temp cost me $6.00?
I will use it as much as I can .... Three of the grocery stores we use - have to walk a hundred yards just to get to the door. WMT parking lot, most of the time. looks like an NFL game is in progress. Pushing a loaded cart really tires me out with an uphill drift. I opt for pickup most of the time.

I keep telling Kate to quit shopping at Ralph's, but she hits it first because it is closest. Last night she came in complaining about paying $7.58 for a one pound box of Graham Crackers.

Did Dawn retrieve her cruise money?

Oh yes. The booking company wanted to hold the money for 45 days so Dawn threatened to go to the media, (newspapers etc.). Two days later the money was refunded.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow is going to be fun. Two granddaughters' are staying here for two nights. I shall be overrun with girly things going on. Dawn joining in off course.

I used to watch Monday Night Football with the sound down. Howard Cossel drove me nuts! I would listen to Hank Stram and Jack Buck on the radio. They were the best National Broadcast team in my opinion. Locally we had Chuck Thompson and Brooks Robinson after he retired from playing, they were the best!

Now with everything streaming the delays between TV and radio drive me crazy. Not to mention good broadcasters are exceedingly rare.

I can't hear very well so I just turn off the closed caption and watch the game. 😁 I know what I'm looking at watching baseball or football. The Washington Capitals have a good radio broadcast team to help me follow the game.
