Hi all, I am currently am in search of where I can find a very rare HO Scale engine,View attachment 163000
This is a Kato Iowa Pacific (San Luis and Rio Grande) Sd90/43mac. I have never seen one in person or on eBay and the only photos of them I have seen are this product photo and probably 2 others. I was just wondering, does anybody own one or know where I could get my hands on such a gem? I like it for the Illinois Central paint scheme :)
Have you contacted Kato directly? I remember that one being a special, made to order unit.

Should be ok, have to scratch build a stand for the equipment first. I started the the LNER signal box while I was waiting for the lamps for the tank depot which arrived this morning.

Although I'm doing very little today as I fell off the stepladder this morning while fixing a roller blind, so I'm a little on the sore side, maybe tomorrow.
Stay off any thing that rises 8” above the floor.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 38° here. Won't get above 50° for the next two days. Rain which was not in the forecast two hours ago, is now in, maybe because there seems to be some showing up on the radar all around. Small cells that may not even be hitting the ground.

Well the trip to Memphis has been postponed for two weeks as two of my cousins (late Aunt's children) cannot get there this weekend and the church is booked for the next one. Found out yesterday morning so we had time to cancel the reservations and re-book. What a hassle, although being honors members we didn't have to pay a cancellation fee.

Grocery store trek went as planned yesterday, nothing eventful. Prices stable and I am beginning to know where everything is now that they are done with re-arranging the parts of the store that I use. They're not done, but the parts that are remaining are areas that I don't use anyway, like household goods, hygiene items, (both from Dollar General for me), bottled water, energy drinks, pet food, and the promotional aisles. Gasoline citywide has drastically come down to $2.79/gallon, even at the corporate owned Exxon type stations.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I put another Logan Valley structure on the workbench, this one is Augie's Ag Sales. Chet only finished part of this structure because of the viewing angle on his layout didn't require it, and as he has posted before, he hates painting windows.

So I started by finishing off the back and side windows. I was able to match the paint exactly.

Some light touch up is still needed now that I look at all too revealing photos! I also added a foundation and a sidewalk out front.
View attachment 162951
Since I plan to add figures and details like grain sacks, I extended the sidewalk inside to place them on.

I even got as far as painting the sidewalk.

Today is adding some roof details like plumbing vent pipes and an access hatch, along with the interior stuff and figures on the sidewalk.

Troy - Some rather colorful cars that you got. Now to get the layout rebuilt.
Todd -

Try some Cauliflower. It's white with no carbs. We mash it like potatoes, steam it, make casseroles, roast it and eat it raw in several ways.
Tom O - Your Jesus Christ Superstar adventure reminds me of a Doors concert that I attended in 1970 or early '71. Surprised that I can still remember it! The music was rather good, but Jim Morrison was so drunk that he couldn't remember half of the words and kept stumbling to his knees to the point that the roadies had to help him up. He stacked 18 empty beer cans, that he consumed during the performance[?], up on the front of the stage during the show before crashing through them into the orchestra pit for a finale. I did get my money back after waiting in line for 45 minutes. Back then, concert tickets were just $2.50.

Everyone have a great day and an awesome weekend.
Willie: Love Cauliflower. You should have seen my Wife the 1st time she was with me when buying it. I grab a crown, break off a small piece and taste it. If it is NOT sweet, put it down and wait for the next delivery. Time of year does not seem to matter, some are not ripe; hard and sour while others are over ripe; soft and like sponge. Suspect that delivery and warehouse times could cause either of those. Used to pick up from Fresh Express in Salinas before they moved to Yuma. That was their niche - live load of veggie's right out of the field into the truck. Not refrigerated until the trailer doors were closed. At that time most went to Wal*Mart stores points East. I talked with one of the inspectors about veggie life of which she said you have 2 weeks refrigerated before stuff starts breaking down and turning into mush. They picked at the height of freshness. Taylor Farms did that as well as most of the other veggie producers in the area. Cabbage is the same as Cauli - not sweet, don't buy. Cantaloupe is the fun one. Check the green dot ( where root has been separated ). If it is bright green, fruit is hard and should not have been picked. If dull green or grayish, you got mush. Push on it, if it bounces back fairly fast - good choice. Canteloupe does not get fresher after picking, it just starts breaking down which most *think* that it is fresh(er) because it is softer. You have probably tasted the 'woodiness' of a cant - started breaking down a week or more before. And for you that have a 'veggie' drawer in your refer - check the temp. Most of the newer ones can be modified slightly. You want 41F exactly.

Good job on Chet's buildings. I would think that he loves seeing the Logan Valley stuff alive and kicking. I kind of expect to see a smaller layout in his 2nd bedroom. Think that there is room for two 8' x 24" shelves in L shape. Nothing like his previous, but at least something he can putter with. I know he misses the puttering part. Time will tell.

Later

Good morning. Cloudy and 25°, with a"slight" possibility of snow showers during the day.

Morning from (cough, cough) sunny CA where it is 41 degrees, cold, windy and rainey here -- snow everywhere else. I hear that the interstates were closed both directions going North with lots pf slipping and sliding. No one out here knows how to drive in "WET"!
This has been a cool, wet winter there, almost like the one we are having in Jersey, except its a bit colder here. Yesterday, our temperature topped out at 50°, today, it won't go over 32°, tomorrow, 50°. Like a roller coaster, eh?

Take care, if you have to go out. Sounds like bumper cars out there.
