Morning All,

Posting early today due to Dad's Cat Scan at VA this afternoon. Started out in the train room by assembling the 2-bay window/cupola then attaching the sub-roof and finally the walking area that travels the length of the cabin.

On the subject of money, my parents felt that children had no right to be involved with family finance discussions. Based on that I made plenty of my own mistakes as an adult. MOH and I have worked hard to pay off our debt over the years. I truly believe that credit is legalized slavery because it can take away your future.

Talked to Phil today and he and Deb are doing well.

Thank you for the photo likes.

Chad- Your house is really starting to look like a house.

Chet- More excellent layout photos.

Jaz- Great modeling and very true words.

Todd/Willie- That is great news about saving parts of Chet's layout.

Joe- Thank you. For some reason when you mentioned walking on the beach, I had a flashback to this:

20230214_111306.jpg

I hope everyone has a good night.

Willie: I got to look through Chet's buildings. There were quite a few and I suspect that I did not see all of them. I almost pulled the trigger on a couple along with some pieces and parts - then I remembered that I currently have *many* kit buildings in boxes. So I didn't want to fill more boxes without knowing what I already have.

I knew that I needed more power and a bunch of Boxcars - so I got a 'quantity' deal for those from him - all is not lost: Logan Valley will still be alive! As of right now, I have no plans to change any of the Logan Valley stuff, paint, names or otherwise.

Later
Todd, Were there any GE 70 tonners in the roster of the Logan Valley aquisition? I thought I saw at least 1 in CHETS pictures.

Morning all,

It was a nice day yesterday. I did spend a couple of hours taking more paint off the little switcher I started. Issue I see is that AHM had soo much paint on it, I'm going to lose the grill details when I attempt my paint.

Rainy this morning where it's currently 48° going for a high of about 58°. Supposed to snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning, but it won't last as the ground temps are up.

Good morning ya'll!

Working from home today. Quiet. Doc & Wyatt are keeping me company today while I work on some price increases of steel from Germany. It seems the prices of raw materials that my company uses keep going up. Shipping containers are stupid money at the moment to get the materials here. Oh well.

For all of you bleeding hearts out there. Happy Valentines Day.....if you have a significant other don't mess up today. Make sure you do something of a token of apreciation that Cupid would do.....good luck.

The gal I dated last year about this time, (we dated from Feb thru April) she an I have reconnected. Our separation was due to her father falling ill. He was in the hospital 37 times last year. He got out of the hospital 1 week before Christmas after being in there for 6 weeks. He had a pace maker put in, blood infection and then COVID during that time. He is tough as nails. A retired Marine. He is 83. Anyways he is now on a good schedule and doing well in an assited care living place not far from her. Her 2 girls are in college at USF both in the medical field and doing well. So she now has an empty nest and things have calmed down for her tim have free time to enjoy life a bit. We caught up on our life events from 2022 and both agreed it sucked lol. She wished we could have stayed closer during our rough patches in life but I understood her predictaments etc. So now all is well at the moment. We have spent the last 2 weeks going out and enjoy each others company. Today I will go over to see her as she is preparing a nice dinner for me. We went out Sunday night to a string quartet concert down in Albany at the Kenmore Ballroom. Before that we had a nice Italian dinner. Super Bowl was not a priority with me to see. If we had not had a date I would have watched it with my dad.

So thus far the dating seems to be on a good track for future dates and what not. We enjoy each others company and have a lot of similar interests. Trains? no but she gets it. Fishing? absolutley loves to fish. Travel? yupper all good! and we are both foodies and love to cook. Time will tell.

In March I may be planning a trip out to UK by myself for a week to see my sister and then a quick trip down to Alabama again as well. Texas will not be on my travels this year as my buddy is coming up here in August.

Train room work has been a little non existent due to dating. I did get in there a few short moments last week and ran some trains. This weekend I am booked solid with other activities. I did get my shelves painted for the upper tier I just have to get them put up and in place. I need to finish up another 2 hours of organization.

The next 3 days we are going to see high 40s and low 50s as this is unusual for us here. Almost like spring weather but I know full well we always get smacked with a snow storm at least 2 times between now and mid-March. I welcome the warm weather. I worry though that this spring will bring a lot of infestation of bugs....ticks, skeeters and the like due to a mild winter. We shall see. Spring fishing on the other hand is fast approaching. I will be ready to get out there as we do not have ice or rather very little of it on the major lakes here. Time will tell with what mother nature will have in store for us.

Ya'll have a good day!

Have fun with Cupid.....

Hi all,
for those whose loved ones have left us, can I wish them a happy valentines on behalf of the women who otherwise would have celebrated their day with their other halves.
A lot of people go on about spending Xmas alone and I get it, but today must be as bad if not worse when the one you shared much of your life with is no longer here. I made a ribeye steak and a lamb chop for mine, and a Keto doughnut..actually not that doughnut texture but it was the first time trying and the results were actually rather pleasing
so no picture just thought of these and I made 5 at 200 calories each which we scoffed.
doughnut
1 egg
1/2 cup almond flour
1/3 cup coconut flour (less calories per 100g and sweeter)
2 tbsp Sweetner of choice
1 or 2 tbsp of softened butter
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup freshly boiled water (mix the butter in it asap)
…
topping
1 tbsp almond butter (similar to peanut butter this can be substituted)
1 tbsp butter
1-2 tbsp Sweetner of your choice
upto a 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon - optional

mix the water butter Onot egg if water still very warm)
mix the dry ingredients mix with the water butter then add the egg, divide into 5 balls (you can do r or 6, I used a 1/3 cup measure pressed the slightly dry dough spooned out on to parchment paper)
cook 375 deg f or 190 deg c for 15 mins, I use an air fryer with shelves so no spinning

meantime warm the butter, almond butter or peanut, and Sweetner of choice so just soft enough to drizzle over the doughnut
once doughnut cooked I transferred to a plate, drizzle the nutty topping.
each one is about 225-250 calories give or take.
eat with a spoon is likely best
for those with a jam option you can warm jam just enough (beware boiling and scolding) and drizzle that instead, sugar free sugars are available. So if strawberry jam is you thing your on a winner

this is really not doughy, eat over a plate in case it breaks up and lands on floor…..faints
and use finger to catch every last drop…..or your tongue if no one is watching lol.
if any way tried it give me your feedback.
personally as a non gluten wheat eater I give it a 5 star, although describing it as a doughnut is a tad wishful thinking, it does taste really nice though Imo in my opinion.

happy valentines all.

LOGAN VALLEY RR LIVES ON
Good Evening Folks. Eventually I will post some of this stuff in the RPO thread, but for now here it is. Today I received two boxes from Chet's Logan Valley RR, that no longer exists:(. Here are a few pictures of structures that I have anticipated and have saved places for on the layout.
View attachment 162023View attachment 162024View attachment 162025View attachment 162026View attachment 162027View attachment 162028View attachment 162029
There are some minor repairs that will need to be done; I broke the awning off the structure in picture #4. Overall they traveled 1800 miles in excellent shape.
More to come later.
All of your layout is fun to look at but every so often there is a gorgeous little gem, I love the caravan and deck chairs

Good morning gang!

Bright, clear and sunny today, with a high temp near 60°.

Happy Valentines day to one and all. It's a double whammy for me as it is also SWMBO's birthday. Have no fear, I've been on top of this for 2 weeks!

Tom, Willie, good financial advice. I started off that way, buying my 1st house at 28, then 3 kids, then divorce, alimony (means she got all my money) child support and the market in 2007 killing what was left of the 401k. Then a second marriage followed by a second house, then a few years until another divorce. I somehow kept the house and lived off of Ramen and hamburger helper for a bit. Now years later, remarried with the youngest in college (SWMBO's child), we are getting it done. Yes, I may work til 67, heck I might even part time it til 70 but I'm making the best of the situation.
When I 1st read your posts, I felt a bit embarrassed on how things turned out, because I couldn't stick to the program. After I thought about it, I came to realize that after enduring all the knock downs, I still got up and continued to fight. SWMBO is due to retire from the county next year with a full pension (at 57) and wants a 2nd career, we are going to get there, we are just taking a different path.

BBL
Karl. There’s nothing there to be embarrassed about. You cannot control health and Alimony makes saving a completely different ball game

Good evening. Currently, 50° and partly cloudy. Predicted low overnight of 36°. Tomorrow will offer decreasing clouds and a high of 63°. Not bad for February, eh?

Went for another walk today after lunch. With a break in between, we walked a bit over a mile. I'm looking at daily progress.

The Mets first pre season game is February 25. MLB announced today, that they will emphasize enforcement of the "Balk" rule. That on top of the new "Pizza Box" sized bases, new this season... helped me to decide Not to renew my MLB subscription. I'll limit myself to over the air games, and Prime Video for my baseball fix...

Good Evening All!

Some where interested in the Laser Cutter. Got it and laid it all out. Kit as I expected; thought you might be interested.

Since it is on the dinner table, I guess that I HAVE to do something with it. Will breeze the instructions and locate the parts according to the instructions. Then, probably tomorra am I will start the build. Probably will put stuff in Model Railroad Tools - or whatever it is called so you can follow along.
