Hello happy members!
Has anyone ever built the famous Woodland Scenics Grand Valley Layout? I found the track plan very interesting. Many thanks in advance for all your answers.

Swal- Looks like it's really starting to come together. I take my photos on my phone. First, I re-size the photos then email them to myself. I open the email enclosures on my laptop then move the photos to my laptop photo files.
Curt I like the idea of emailing the photos to myself. That's easy enough to do. I may also try the Texas Hobo method, but I can do yours's right now without downloading anything.

I'm intrigued. I haven't started a layout yet, just have a handful of trains and a million miles of track. I dodn't want to start until I have a good plan. I like this one. I should get a book.

Chad- Considering the size of the project I was just curious if you had a construction background.

Not yet!

I like to do things with my hand but I wanted to hire out or hire more help than I've been able to due to the market so I've had to do a bit more than planned. It's been an eye opener.

I have hire a guy and his son, starting today, for 10 days each, 8 hours a day (total -- however it gets divided up is fine) to start. He is a contractor who has 30 years experience doing ICF homes. I actually had met him at the installer class two years ago and had later asked if he could help me with the ICF structure, but he wanted, at the time, to contract and run the whole job, which I didn't want to do.

Fast forward to now -- I asked the ICF distributor if he could recommend someone to help me do our next concrete pour on the main level. He gave me this guy's number, which sounded familiar but I didn't remember. I called and asked and he was open to helping and also said that he could help with other stuff and I asked about help finishing the ICF. He said he could offer that and other stuff al a carte. He came by and looked stuff over and we spoke yesterday and gave me a price I can stomach for short term projects and so he is starting today. It seems that business is down with the interest rate hikes and also it being winter and so some of their projects are on hold (up in the mountains etc where there is 10 ft of snow). That seems to be why he is more amenable to a la carte work.

Remember you paid into Social Security, it’s your money, it is not an Entitlement.

This is not true, legally. The social security tax is a tax and you have no claim to anything. It is not an annuity or investment account or anything you have an interest in. It is a tax and goes into the treasury. The government has promised you an entitlement to bribe you to support the tax.

Got up,, made the coffee, skipped the creamer, but added a bit of monk fruit sweetener

Sipping away, I ask, does monk fruit sweetener break a fast? Eg casue an insulin spike? Well,,, maybe…

As Willie said, it does not. There are several non sugare sweeteners that have no or very low effect on blood sugar. Monk Fruit, Allulose, Erythritol, etc. I use them all!

Balloon, Balloon - so much "flap"
I want to know why they did not capture it?
They could have placed a few smaller holes in it and then captured it as it descended.
At one time the Weather Service had a WW2 B-17 equipped with an apparatus for doing just that.
Also there may have been a C-130 equipped the same way can't remember?

There was ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulton_surface-to-air_recovery_system

Perhaps the payload was too heavy?

Willie, and others thinking of asking:

Dude is 28mm scale (28mm ground to eyes when standing), or 1:56... that's close to O scale if I remember correctly.

Here he is next to an N-scale (US version) 40 ft car for comparison.

My other figures are in the 13-14mm range. So right around TT scale.

We have to get to 10mm scale to find something close to N-Scale 1:160

Quite an interesting article. Not sure that i would want to be the test subject.

Hey the ice cream was good. I don’t get ice cream very often as like lots of things it messes with the Blood Glucose numbers. I also was unaware she was snapping the picture.

26 hours later we have about 7” of white stuff and it is still coming down. I will start the clean up after the snow plows go through
Ice cream Keto style no sugar spikes.

600ml double cream check for the lower natural sugars, be careful of whipping cream sugar can be added
whip in blender
75g sugar replacement I use erithrytol (especially as it is ZERO calories) I understand monkfruit is better and in the US
3 egg yolks - you can use whole eggs, be careful to check the egg is fresh as it is raw..I can detail if required
1 teaspoon vanilla essence you can get keto but so little you can likely use the normal stuuff
hand mix these three then add to whipped cream and re whip until yellow is mixed

if you have a cheap ice cream maker transfer and follow instructions
otherwise night before pop a stainless steel bowl in the feezer, one stainless steel bowl ina bigger bowl with water in it that freezes is better
add the icecream mix and let the icecream mix cool,
then stir the mix in the bowl, pop back in freezer
then for as often as you have the patience if every 5 or 10 or 15 mins go mix it,until too cold to mix or until you get bored.
once part frozen if you have a silicon muffin maker transfer the icecream before too frozen
this makes individual portions, as the icecream is harder to serve than normal shop bought,
once really cold…not necessarily frozen solid..
eat and enjoy.

cream..count calories
zero calorie Sweetner oh yeah
egg yolks say 75 cal each
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence even if sugaredshould be ok,if allergies but the keto
you can mash mix strawberries or other fruit at the end,
you can buy montezuma sugar free chocolate drops and add those, and/ or chopped nuts
for those with no dietary issues baileys can be added.

when I use just yolks I mix the white with sweetner and low slow or air dry mini meringues, and fill with whipped cream…ohyummy

Afternoon All,

Last night after we went to bed one of our skunks got into the pantry had a party and we had quite the mess to cleanup. After cleanup I attached the hand grabs on one end. What a pain. I think I dropped about every grab before getting them done. After lunch, I chauffeured MOH to Wally World. We got about 1" of rain last night and I think it's supposed to do it again tonight.

Chet- Nice club photos.

Hughie- Nice layout shot.

Troy- The best thing that I know of to lose weight is exercise and portion control.

Willie- I also prefer straight back chairs.

Swal- The tile looks great.

Smudge- Great haul.

I hope everyone has a good night.
